Birthdays come but once a year
but a 21st is something to cheer
a give you a toast, a hug and smile
let`s celebrate in great style
enjoy your gifts and don`t forget

Old wrinkles

A withered face
wise with years
protected skin
hiding many tears

with sharp eye
piercing view
watching everything
including you !

It`s a cat`s life!

Curled up sleepy on the sofa
taking no notice of anyone
dreaming of chasing playful mice
after a great day having fun

climbing trees while eyeing up birds
by the pond trying to catch fish
but best of all racing around
a cat completing every wish

stretching out slowly, then yawning
turning round to get more cosy
cat napping is quite an art form
future`s looking very rosy

Through the Jungle

A chain of pachyderm
trunk to tail along the track
stamping through the jungle
they won`t stand for any flack

these wonderful creatures
who are so kind and faithful
should be free to roam the jungle
for they`re majestic and graceful

today`s the day, you made the grade

diploma in hand and smiling face

fulfilling your expectation

Colours of Bereavement

The skies around me darkens
blacks and greys surround me
time stands still as I drown
drowning in my own grief

living in this one moment
the colours change again
that`s what happens when someone dies
the light
the light is changing again
it`s bearing down on me

peeping through the stormy skies
the blacks fade into blues
of the bruises on my heart
will these ever heal in time

living in this one moment
the colours change again
that`s what happens when someone dies
the light
the light is changing again
it`s bearing down on me

green... red... reflect on my eyes
as other colours come into view
brighter tones shine upon my face
shadows of the day fade away

once living in that moment
the colours now consume me
is this what happens when death is gone
the light
the light now blinds my eyes
no longer will I fear you

the white light
shining bright
bearing colours
colours of pain
colours of joy
colours of Bereavement!

These lyrics were developed from my poem Colours of Bereavement  by Jon Bull.

Sweet Dreams

Slipping into slumber
Where imagination flows
Even though the night is short
Each dream takes you on a journey
Through many distant lands

Drifting into new adventures
Reaching for the stars and moon
Experiencing many passions
All in one night time until
Morning will come around
So til then, enjoy your dreams !

Slumber

With the setting of the sun
and the rising of the moon
we take to our slumber and dream
and awaken to the song bird`s tune

Our Angel Sid..!

Special memories build a bridge
when our loved ones have departed
helping us to feel we`re connected
soothes the pain of the down hearted

memories of you span many years
for Sid, you were one of a kind
partner, father and grandparent
our bridge give us peace of mind

Special Memories

A precious memory locked away
kept safe for another day
with this key hung on its chain
will I use it or feel the pain

keep it safely away from harm
is it a curse or is it a charm?
remembering all I've been through
and my special memories of you

Star Light

Spirally across the sky
spinning brightly as it goes
lighting up the night time
where it's going, no one knows

Strands of gold seeking space
testing out the atmosphere
as it moves across the horizon
casting patterns of light so near

Hues of reds and gold we see
spinning and pulsating along
orbiting celestial force
with a fiery tail, so strong

Moving swiftly along its course
streaks of colour across the moon
like candles flickering on by
this star light will be gone too soon

Ink in my pen seems to falter
as if stuttering across the page
images appear to fade slowly
for puzzle is missing a piece
therefore the picture is incomplete

Loneliness

Loneliness can be so hard to bare
a feeling of sheer abandonment
sat silently up here in my room
in an emotional environment

There are people all around me here
yet still I am encased in solitude
like living in a see through bubble
all alone, yet in a multitude

This state of affair`s not good for me
I feel an air of anticipation
needing courage to walk through that door
be happy with participation.

what more can be said,  loneliness is hard to cope with, even when people are about....

Where`s my Internet?

I know we`re really lucky people
having internet, TV and mobiles
but we take it all for granted
when all is working, there are smiles

so when my system goes down
I worry, friends will be neglected
so find myself in such a panic
as I`m unable to be connected

rebooting, searching for my server
trying to get a connection found
I`m trawling through all the cables
not comfortable, sat here on the ground

the screen flickers and comes to life
maybe this time it will work for me
fingers crossed as I Google a site
yippee !  I can browse again happily !!

Our internet went down for a few days, a long with the television too.  Wow  it made such a difference to entertainment. I read a book instead.  How ever it is interesting how much it affects us when we lose it for a while.
