Hint of Summertime

Patterns surround us

textures all about

colours every where

See so much while out

flowers in the park

cobbles on the ground

people dress up bright

music all around

curtains billowing

washing on the line

smiles on people`s faces

it must be summertime!

 Penguins

These cheeky little feathery chappies

in smart black jackets they waddle

among the boulders on the shore edge

before gathering together in a huddle

Penguins are amazing creatures

who love to toboggan down a slope

slithering down on their stomachs 

than back again, they don't need a rope!

they're so comical and friendly

diving down and splashing around 

confidently swimming through water

masters of the ocean, they've been crowned.

flapping their wings while waddling along

watch these handsome penguins go

amazing flightless aquatic birds 

come by and visit them and say hello!

This poem was inspired from chatting with a friend about the music we listened to in the 80s and all the things that we did at the time. It was great to reminisce  I wrote this original poem in 2013

 Porch Steps 

After the end of a hard days work

sat on the porch in the evening sun

listening to music from bygone times

sipping a beer now the work is done

Blondie, Twisted Sister and even Kiss

Thin Lizzy, Status Quo and much more

awesome music from a great era

you`ll find your foot is tapping the floor

as the music plays you`re filled with joy

with each song you remember a scene

from places you saw, to fashion you wore

and it still all sounds so crisp and clean

sat there on the porch reminiscing

for time has flown by so fast

remembering the good life you had

listening to the music from your past

Playful Ferrets

Watching them zipping in or out

as they bobbing up and down

with a quick flash of a tail 

inquisitive eyes all around

never staying still for very long

racing past you in a moment

then nosing at everything

ferrets full of merriment.

haring all around the garden

chasing others through the grass

then pouncing on all that moves

peering through french window glass

popping up in daft places

exploring all our treasures

with bright eyes and cheerful smiles

these awesome playful creatures

soft of fur and a cheeky grins

hear them chittering all the while

sharp teeth that gnaw happily through toys

these sweet ferrets have their own style,

at the end of a playful day

with sleepy eyes, they curl up tight

inside their soft comfy snugs, as

they fall asleep, we say good night!

Our Holiday!!

Paper thin walls that hide nothing

narrow corridors with no windows

never enough storage or drawers

small beds with tiny flat pillows

all the shoes stored by the doorway

fridge crammed full of all that`s needed

towels and swim things draped everywhere

normal rules need not be heeded

our car`s parked on a patch nearby

the play area`s across the site

a plot of grass outside our door

for our blanket, it fits just right!

no matter what the weather does

we will explore, visit and roam

having a great time on holiday

so for this week, this is our home !!

A Simple Smile

It's a simple thing really

a curve between two points

that lights up your eyes

and loosens up the joints !

capturing the moment

is the order of the day

creating happy vibes

in each and every way !

Afternoon Nap

caught in the afternoon sunlight

enjoying a lazy snooze on the window sill

fur warming in the heat of the summer

a hint of breath, all else is perfectly still

for this feline friend is taking her nap

recharging her batteries after her play

while lapping up all the bright sunshine

ready to cause havoc, later in the day!

this sleepy little pussy cat yawns

stretching the whole length of the window

then settles down to snooze once more

so comfortable on her soft pillow!

World Bee day!   

Giving thanks to our humble bumble bees, that do so much for us in our gardens.

Mr Bumble Bee 

loud buzzing  announces
there are bumble bees about
hopping from flower to flower
collecting the pollen while out

his big fat striped body
held high on stubby wings
buzzing around everywhere
following directions from one that sings

love to hear him, as he goes
its a sign that summers here
pollinating the fruit trees
I salute him with a cheer!
great sounds of the bumble bees

Yay! its summertime again..!!

Memories are important to me, they help to keep Steve in my heart. I remember the little things about him and what we did together. To lose these would be devastating, so I lock them within my heart and draw on them in times of sadness, as they perk me up and keep me going

all my treasures put together

creating heart felt joy

held in my soul forever

there are good memories

of the wonderful things I have done

those special memories

good times, happy times, having fun!

some are sad memories

ones I would rather forget

they are still memories

placed in my soul with no regret

time for new memories

to fill my heart with all that`s great

It`s incredible to think it`s been 15 years since my husband, Steve, was given his wings and set free without any more suffering.   I miss my soulmate and companion in life but I know he watches over me everyday and I am lucky to have my four amazing and talented kids around me too  💗  x

It feels like a lifetime ago

since the angels took you away

gave you a set of white wings

as they set you free that day

it`s remembered little moments

special times we spent together

with each photo, letter, memory

and treasuring each white feather

Nature the a healer

 through good times or bad

Mother Nature heals the soul

from a torn and tattered heart

making broken senses whole

from sounds of birds singing

to watch a heron standing proud

while ducks waddle by the lake

quacking their happiness so loud

buttercups, daisies and blossom

filling the air with gorgeous scent

nature the healer is all around

instilling peace and contentment

Spring Time

Apple blossom 

sweet smelling tulips

frog`s eggs in the pond

all signs that spring is here

bluebells and caterpillars

the gardens come to life

longer days and shorter nights

sitting out in the evening sun

listening to the bird calls

watching the cats play

relaxing in the sunshine

enjoying this spring time!

A little bit of

 colour to show that we

 care brightening up the world

we need  hope to  get us through

sharing virtual  hugs and  smiles

snoozing on a soft bed of grass 

hidden amongst the leaves so tall

for this shady spot is the best

and camouflaged near the wall

as the sun`s rays warm the day

sweet scented aromas fill the air

this little feline  snoozes there

on this the hottest day of the year

snooze on my little feline friend

enjoy the warm afternoon sun

when the shadows get to long

stretch, yawn, your sleep is done!

 Recipe For The Day

Start your day off with a cup of coffee

spoon in some happiness and love

add whipped cream of mystery

shake on chocolate from above

With this you should also have

a bowl of energy and fun

pour on the milk of strength and wit

for now your day has just begun

To really finish of this treat

you`ll need some hot and crunchy toast

spread with some caring harmony

with this you`ll reach the winning post!!

Peckers of wood for a hole to nest

Incredibly super long tongues

Call a group of woodpeckers a Decent

Ingenious feet enable them to cling on

Did you know they have furry noses?

And they don`t get headaches at all

Butterflies are like silent fluttering rainbows, capturing the sunlight and brightening up our world!

Butterflies

Paper wings fluttering on the wind

bright colours flashing through the light

many shimmering tones in the sun

warming up together, before flight

silently assembling in great hoards

drawing strength as one in the day

reds, whites, purples and pale blues

catching attention in a big way.

while flitting from flower to flower

tasting that wonderful nectar there

these majestic creatures feed

using their long tongues with flair

wonderful insects for all to see

filling our lives with great pleasure

bright beautiful butterflies

they are here for us to treasure.
