Ho, Ho, Ho

As snow lay on the ground
foot prints scattered everywhere
while throngs of shoppers
search for some Christmas fare

bright lights and cheery music
excitement for the festivities
children`s laughter could be heard
as they pursued fun activities

loud Ho Ho Ho`s were then heard
followed by a jolly man in red
for Father Christmas has arrived
with many gifts upon his sled.

once enthroned in his grotto
handing out gifts to everyone
as he calls children to his side
until his work is almost done

then with a farewell Ho Ho Ho !
Father Christmas rides away
leaving happy children in his wake
wishing all a great Christmas Day !

Charley

Will you come and play with me
run about and have some fun!
or take me for a long walk
through the woodlands in the sun

there`s so much to see and do
checking out all the sights and smells
sharing quality time together
don`t ever want to break these spells

I`m a happy go lucky lass
who also loves loads of cuddles
and playful rolls in the garden
followed by evening snuggles

together we make a great team
exploring the world, you and me
and at the end of a long day
we'll share the sofa happily !

Buster

Boisterous young pup
Up to mischief all the time
Seeks out snacks to devour
Trekking through the garden
Everyone`s best friend
Rowdy yet loves his snuggles

Mister Snowman

Mister Snowman standing so proud

By the fire

Listen to the crackle of the fire
as the flames dance in the hearth
many bright colours shimmering
filling the room with a warm glow
stretched out toasting her fur
one relaxed cat sleeping contently

a hot frothy chocolate drink
steaming on the table beside me
filling the room with a wonderful aroma
helping me to unwind on the sofa
allowing the cat and myself to enjoy
a perfect autumn evening

A Wintry Night

All is quiet on this wintry night
snow gently covering everywhere
turning all the landscape white
there`s great excitement in the air

sky scattered with millions of stars
lanterns lighting our travels home
twinkling amongst the snowflakes
welcoming all from where they roam

all snuggled cosy by a roaring fire
as snow slowly blankets the ground
sipping a mug of frothy hot chocolate
peace, warmth and comfort is found

Nine Swans A- Swimming

where turbulant waters fill the loch
under grey clouds on an autumn day
nine swans battling among the waves
tall, white and elegant in every way

a line of nine swans go swimming by
bobbing amongst the blustery weather
between distant hills bathed in sunshine
to lowland covered in gorse and heather

majestic creatures gliding gracefully
while paddling under water seamlessly
where have you come from my pretties
silently drifting by in a line so peacefully

Christmas countdown has begun

Christmas Cheer!

It`s that time of year again
the excitement is growing
everyone has their secrets
there`s no sign of it slowing

shopping bags and packages
sticky tape, and wrapping paper...
cards written and presents done
all this fun is such a caper

decorations all in place
just love the atmosphere
raise you glass everyone
for Christmas time is here!

I have always admired big cats but my all time favourite is the Snow Leopard. They are amazing creatures. surviving in harsh terrains.  Beautiful and elegant cats full of determination to bring up their family.

Disappearing Snow Leopard

A desolate snow covered landscape
where strong winds blast the rock face
and with very little vegetation
what could survive in this cold place ?

such a harsh environment
steep imposing cliffs meet the ground
where habitats give good camouflage
rare snow leopards maybe found

in lush thick white, and yellow fur
marked by ringed spots of black on brown
watching all with such light green eyes
planning to bring their next prey down

snow leopards have beautiful long tails
paws adapted to walk on deep snow
able to ambush unsuspecting prey
chasing them down before the fatal blow

mostly active between dawn and dusk
this big silent cat that can`t roar
solitary by nature, `til breeding
their survival we must ensure

sadly these majestic creatures
are becoming such a rare sight
through loss of their range and hunting
this means they are losing their fight

London

London is the smallest city on England
O
ver 300 different languages are spoken
No 10 Downing Street is 300 years old
Down below the city streets, 20 rivers flow
Oldest underground railway in the world
Norway,
has gifted a Christmas tree since 1947

Sweet Dreams

Slipping into slumber
Where imagination flows
Even though the night is short
Each dream takes you on a journey
Through many distant lands

Drifting into new adventures
Reaching for the stars and moon
Experiencing many passions
All in one night time until
Morning will come around
So til then, enjoy your dreams !

Daft side of Christmas

running around like headless chickens
when buying gifts for one and all
outdoing the neighbour`s lights
filling the larder with food
putting up the tree
eat turkey roast
drinking wine
knackered
sleep

A Christmas Gift

The best Christmas gift is easy to see
it`s not wrapped up with a big row
or placed under a bright tree
this gift costs no money
its special you see
love and a smile
just from me
Christmas
love
💕

Vestry Christmas

snow lays deep outside the wooden door
a little fire tries to warm up the room
while wind whistles through the cracks
a tiny mouse hides in the gloom

single candle perched on the windowsill
dimly lights a large bible on the table
while the old priest studies the texts
this winter will be cold and miserable

in a corner hangs a threadbare stocking
just in case Father Christmas comes to visit
the little mouse moves towards the fireside
pausing for a moment by the little trivet

near the fire, he slowly starts to warm up
silence broken by a foot step and keys
he finds a little festive gift from Santa
Merry Christmas and thanks for the cheese!

Bonfire Night

Fireworks lighting up the night sky, creating colourful patterns for all to see.

Enjoy your evening and stay safe 🎆

               Little Rocket

Snug in a box
stored under the stairs
waiting for the moment
I can join all the flares

when the day arrives
we`re brought into the light
to be opened and checked
all ready for the night

the bonfire is burning
such a crackling sound
the sparklers are lit
as people gather around

now that the box is open
feel a little unsteady
as we`re set up in place
for the show is now ready

lots of bangs and colours
as the sky is lit up so bright
one by one we are sent up
fireworks on Bonfire night.

 A Poppy for a Soldier

From the first world war to the latest one
millions of men, women and children have died
but millions more have been left to suffer
these are the ones, help has been denied

fields full of bright red poppies standing tall
where once men stood and fought the war
many have no rest place for kin to grieve
others have been left to suffer for sure

 each Remembrance Day is important
we should all wear our Poppies with pride
for many people lost their lives for us
as they fought together side by side

now it`s our turn to give something back
to help an injured soldier in times of  need
encourage,  support and care for each one
be there in their hour of pain, guaranteed

every red poppy is significant
each one represents a soldier that fell
this year wear your poppy with respect
as we honour our service personnel.

Poppy Day is not too far away,  here`s a little verse I wrote nearly 10 years ago.

  Poppy Day

   I wear a little Poppy
as red as it can be
   to show that I remember
   those brave soldiers
who gave their lives for me.
