Evening Reflections

Reflections of the day
play tricks on our mind
as the sun begins to set
you can start to unwind

the events of the day
can now draw to an end
you can hold them so dear
like a wonderful friend

when all is said and done
we still need our rest
so it`s time now to chill
the evenings are the best

watching the sun go down
pull up a chair and join me
we`ll put the world to rights
and let`s share a good story

Never alone.......

I walk along this road alone
Just my foot prints in the snow
Huddled up, trying to keep warm
The world`s on my shoulders
Sadness and despair in my heart
Why did you desert me now
When I so needed you most?
No sound, just silence all about
My heart beats in my ears
As I stagger along this cold path
Why will you not walk with me
When I need your support so much?
As I trudge along, I get my answer......
"You are never alone, as I`m with you
The single set of foot prints are mine
When you are down and in need of help
I am there to carry you on my shoulders
Until you are able to cope again"
With a warm glow in my heart
I whisper so quietly
"Thank you my Lord and Friend"

For all those who feel they have to cope on their own.....there is always someone there to help.

The old man of the Forest

From huge spreading roots of this mighty tree
to the rubbery bark stretching up towards the sun
from the ground level to the very tips of its branches
this magnificent tree stands proud for everyone

taking its life force straight from Mother Earth
the awesome tree has stood for hundreds of years
supporting such a diversity of life
living out their lives until death appears

rising up high to the top of the canopy
spreading its laden branches for all to see
forming a corridor across the forest
allowing animals to travel in safety

this wonderful old man of the forest
stands tall for everyone to aspire to
home for so many insects and animals
it`s grown up to be loved by me and you!

I was reading  a National Geographical magazine and a photo of a Rain Forest tree made me think,
We can not afford to lose these wonderful trees,  This poem  tries to describe it.

A Brave New Start

Standing up here on the edge
Looking down on humanity
Feeling such sadness welling up
All I see is insanity

This old world with all its pit falls
Sucking the life blood out of me
Draining me of all my will power
I just can`t stay here, I must flee

Over the oceans, I will fly
To the far flung ends of the earth
Where I`d feel safe to start again
So full of hope, I`d know my worth

A brave new world for me to see
Leaving all the rot far away.
Free from all the sad pain and hurt
Standing tall, I know this is my day!

There comes a time in most people`s lives, when you feel that enough is enough, you just need to charge things, start a fresh.  This a poem about that situation.

Windows to your soul

Your eyes are the windows to your soul
They show your beauty to the world
Smiles light up your aura from within
How can you feel down for very long
When your whole body is alive with love?
Come, skip along to the beat, my friend
Let your heart race with all this pleasure
The sun is smiling on you today
Bringing out each freckle on your face
Where the sun has touched you with a kiss
Your presence brightens up all around
A trail of sparkling stars follow you
As you drift in and out of our lives
So please remember to keep them open
For your eyes are the windows to your soul!

A poem written for my daughter

Frogs eyes...

Two big eyes just visible
Breaking the surface with ease
Blinking in the bright sun shine
Just floating, if you please

A sudden noise and down they drop
Back into the depths of the pond
A ripple on the water
Tells us how they did respond

As the water settles again
You`re left there to ponder on
For where there were two eyes,  now
A croak, a splash and then they`re gone

While I was sat in my garden over the weekend, enjoying the sun,
I heard noises and then a splash as a frog darted back under the water.
I sat there and watched for a while and this poem is about what I saw.

The clock ticks by...

Tick tock tick tock goes the clock
Announcing the passing of time
Tock tick tock tick time goes quick
Upon the hour the clock will chime

Time never stops for anyone
Keeps going as the clock ticks by
It records all our life`s events
From when you`re born until you die

The seasons they do come and go
All year round from dusk to dawn
Through winter, spring, summer and fall
As nature`s clock keeps ticking on

The saying, "time stops for no man"  just got me thinking........ thus my poem was born!

My hiding place

Feel safe sat in my little haven
Hidden from everybody`s eyes
Secure in the knowledge
That no one can hurt me in here
It`s so quiet in this spot
Snuggled up in my blanket
Watching people come and go
Knowing I`m hidden from view
It`s fun to observe them
When they think no one`s looking!
I just love to watch people lol !!

 That awful moment

That awful moment, stands still in life
It`s marked with tears running down my face
Shoulders shaking and heart a pounding
Left to stand here in this lonely place

Maybe I should not of turned to you
At least, not in my hour of need
Though I know not, who else to turn to
Your wisdom`s something I shouldn`t heed

You were in it only for your gain
As you had no thoughts of helping me
And everybody thought you cared
You were a devil, now leave me be

As I pick myself up off the ground
I realise that I don`t need you
Brushing myself down and start to smile
I can move on as I know what to do.

This poem is a culmination of a few events that I have gone through over the past months.
I was knocked down, but now I am stronger, I know I can move forward as a better person.

This world we live in is a funny place
Far to complicated for me, you know
Want to see what`s happening in my place ?
Then come along, see it all, watch it flow

There are so many people in my world
They come and go through out my life time
Some for a day, others for much longer
And they don`t always see me in my prime

You can`t choose your family, just your friends
I am lucky with those who I have met
Remembering all from my childhood
To the present day and beyond, I bet

Its a wonderful, energetic life
With times of sadness and lots of laughter
And all I love and need around me, so
I`m blessed with happiness here after.

There are some many sad items of news around, it got me thinking about all the thinks I am grateful for, and I find that I am lucky, I have a great life.  This poems is a way to saying that.
