To love you....

To walk hand in hand
across warm golden sand
never again to be a apart

To feel your touch so tender
as into your arms I surrender
and know you hold my heart

To always know you`re there
a love for us to share
forever my sweetheart!

Anniversary

Remembering our special day
the vows we made together
sharing all our memories
we`ll  hold in our hearts for ever

to always know that we were right
our unbeatable bond is so strong
as we build our lives side by side
we have found where we belong

as we celebrate our special day
give a cheer for married life
we`ll raise a glass of champagne
as we continue as husband and wife

Touching a Soul

When you touch someone
with a loving spirit
they touch your soul
with their deep heart
for there is nothing better
on this earth
than a giving person
who knows your worth
as we live each day
may we make a difference
and touch a soul
each and every day
bringing smiles and laughter
to many a needy soul

Love, peace and happiness !

Spring Tranquility

Yellow trumpets blowing in the breeze
red cups pointing upwards to the sky
with tall grasses swaying in-between
standing so proud, no need to be shy

speckled sun light filters through the trees
leaving dappled patterns on the ground
the air`s filled with the scent of flowers
nature`s harmony is all around

this world of forest green and flowers
that mesmerize you in every way
such tranquility and peacefulness
a great place to sit, relax and stay

It has been such a wonderful day, spring has arrived and the sun is out and there`s warm in the air.  Flowers every where.  I just feel like sitting down and relaxing out in this sun.

Day 28  National Poetry Writing Month 2021

prompt - write a poem that poses a series of questions. The questions could be a mix of serious, humorous, interruptive  or conversational.

Happy Writing!

Questions

Life is full of questions
"where did we come from?"
and "why do cats purr?"
we ask many questions
each and everyday
that they become a blur.

being inquisitive
isn`t a bad thing
don`t ask- won`t find out
"what`s with all dogs
wagging their tails madly?"
not good to live with doubt.

questions, questions everywhere
will an answer be found
"where, when, how, why?
questions every day
curiosity is how we learn
stand up, ask, don`t be shy!

Day 29 National Poetry Writing Month 2021

Prompt -  today the challenge in to write a "Through the window"  poem.  This a poem about what you can see through a window. this could be in to ant room, a childhood place, a spaceship or anywhere.  What do you see?

Happy writing!

Through the window

hearing the crackle of the fire
in it`s large stone hearth
slowly warming up the cottage
alone on this cold earth

distant howl of a wolf is heard
in this forgotten land
a lonely figure sits on his own
with his faithful mutt to hand

kettle steams beside the fire
as he stretches our to pour
the hot brew to have with bread
as the wind shakes the door

pale dim light from a candle
illuminates a few old charts
quill and ink placed nearby
not much else to do in these parts

rattling panes stir the dog
as fierce gusts of wind hit hard
further into the darkness
put each of them on their guard

branches brush across the window
and the flames flicker madly
eyes darting around the dark room
he looks down at his dog gladly

watching them from my safe spot
this scene really touches my heart
a man with his mutt sat is darkness
companions that will never be apart

~d(-_-)b~

silence feels like isolation
locked away in solitude
trapping my mind in darkness

my veins throbbing wildly
hearing the pulse in my ears
plunging my soul into madness

it only takes a little beat
to get my senses tinkling
slowly dispersing the emptiness

music is the beat of my life
blasting away the cob webs
and shaking up the stillness

let the music rip through me
bringing my soul back to life
electrifying my happiness

Best Friends...

You are far more than a pet
for you`re a family friend
there by my side when needed
we`ll be together to the end

you help me throughout my life
showing amazing devotion
reading my moods as I go
understand my emotion

one special companion
guiding me along life`s way
you are my eyes in this world
so glad you joined me on that day

although I may not tell you this
I appreciate all that you do
feeling so lucky every day
to have a friend just like you !

Day 27 National Poetry Writing Month 2021

Prompt - write a poem inspired by an entry from The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows.

Nighthawk

laying my head on my soft pillow
snuggled up cosy in my big bed
drifting off to the land of dreams
when the nighthawk enters my head

pecking at the back of my mind
my sleep is suddenly abandoned.
what about that uncompleted task?
he can be really underhanded

oh my, that second slice of cake
creating a huge nagging guilt
nighthawk just won`t let is pass,
without some sleep I`m going to wilt

in the morning he circles over head
while biding his time during my day
then finally I get ready to sleep
that`s when nighthawk comes out to play

The Other Road not taken!

Remembering two roads in the yellow wood
where I had stopped to think and rest
which to take, I had contemplated
and I chose the one I thought the best

thinking back to that decision
I wonder if I had chosen right
could`ve been a mystery destination,
somewhere wild or a relaxing sight

since I`ll never return to that yellow wood
sadly the other road will never know me
in my minds eye, I try to visualise
The Other Road not Taken and to let it be!

Springtime is here and my garden hums

with sounds from an army of bees

darting from each pink blossom flower

collecting pollen for their families

Day 22 National Poetry Writing Month 2021

Prompt - write a poem that invokes a specific object as a symbol of a particular time, era or place.

Nature`s Fridge

Holidays in Wales, great times were had by all
idyllic landscape around an old wooden hall
early each morning a trip to the little stream
to fetch the milk, butter and maybe some cream
for the stream was our fridge, keeping everything cool
it was quite a quirky system that we loved as a rule
taking turns to  visit the quaint part of nature
water flowing slowly past, is an unusual feature
not so pleasant to traipse outside for a treat
on a cold dark night, through wind or sleet!
the fridge in the stream created fab memories
to tell my kids about my childhood stories

Happy Earth Day!

Mother Earth sees All

Her eye is all seeing
you can not hide
she watches over you
through all the seasons
from the winter snows
to the summer flowers
Mother Earth sees all

For she nurtures nature
as best she can
it saddens her to see
how you damage the land
and pollute the oceans
not always obvious, but
Mother Earth sees all

Trees for our benefit
the earth is good
with clear running water
there`s everything you need
but taken for granted
you destroy all that`s pure
Mother Earth sees all

With blue skies over head
sun on our backs
Mother Earth treats us well
an arc of protection
she offers all to you
so love one another
Mother Earth loves all

Garden in Spring

Blue skies dotted with fluffy white clouds
as the heat beats down,  summer yearns
a siren sounds in the distance
melting away, as peace returns
pink blossom on the apple tree now
red tulips swaying in the sun light
everything is starting to come alive
butterflies dart around, what a sight.
yawning,  my cat stretches out it`s legs
dozing in the warm afternoon sun
her attention taken, as a bee flies by
jumping around, she pounces, what fun!
as the sun slowly starts to dip down
the shadows lengthen across the ground
fresh cut grass scent drifts through the air
a haven of tranquility is found.

Cat Snoozed ..

when the day was warm

cat snoozed in the sunshine

when the clouds formed

cat snoozed on her blanket

when her bowl was empty

cat snoozed by the fire

when the moon shone

cat snoozed soundly in her bed

when the angel came

cat snoozed by his feet

when her time came

cat snoozed on her heavenly cloud!

Mr Bumble Bee

Loud buzzing  announces
there are bumble bees about
hopping from flower to flower
collecting the pollen while out

His big fat striped body
held high on stubby wings
buzzing around everywhere
following directions from one that sings

love to hear him as he goes
its a sign that summers here
pollinating the fruit trees
I salute him with a cheer!

Love the sound of the bumble bees....
its summertime again..!!
