Lest We Forget.....

We`re all here to join the cause
and wear our poppies with pride
respecting all the forces
honoured to stand by their side

remembering all the fallen
from the battles that have been
through the war torn countries
these brave people have seen

we should be very honoured
respect those that have heard the call
be grateful they took the risk
and freed us one and all!!

for all the men and women
who fought for us and sadly fell
we honour them and give thanks
to every armed forces personnel

We will remember them ........

Little Lacy Leaf

The ground is covered with debris
after the leaves have fallen down
for late autumn has descended
each mighty tree have lost their crown

Foliage found thickly on the around
as the seasons, they can not stay
slowly losing their bright colours
constantly changing every day

Decaying, disintegrating
taking on a new appearance
rotting, composting back to soil
before winter does the clearance

Small patches of lace can be seen
among all the leaves on the ground
so beautiful and delicate
a little treasure that`s been found

The Little Rocket

Snug in a box
stored under the stairs
waiting for the moment
I can join all the flares

when the day arrives
we`re brought into the light
to be opened and checked
all ready for the night

the bonfire is burning
such a crackling sound
the sparklers are lit
as people gather around

now that the box is open
feel a little unsteady
for we`re set up in place
as the show is now ready

lots of bangs and colours
as the sky is lit up so bright
one by one we are send up
fireworks on Bonfire night.

It`s that time of year again, when fireworks are ignited and the sky is full of bright flashes of light.
Great bangs and whizzing flares along with laughter can be heard.

Night creeps in through a key hole
and takes me by surprise
street lights illuminate outside
while my bed now beckons from the dark
as I slowly climb the stairs to slumber....!

A goodly Christmas
is dawning on this earth
how merry and sweet are it`s pleasures
a season of gladness
and great merriment
memories created as treasures.

5th of November..!

Guy Fawkes Night
is a long held tradition
bonfires and fireworks
jostle for a position

Odd bits of wood
broken up and piled high
rockets and sparklers
ready to light up the sky

everyone watching
all the colourful trails
from flares to Catherine wheels
pinned on walls with nails

all wrapped up snug
against the bitter weather
toasting hot chestnuts
around the bonfire

I am me......!

I am just me
please leave me be
I`m a person and I`m real
don`t tell me how I feel

do I know hurt when you punch
there`s just me, you`re a bunch
the world`s so unfair
to busy to really care

I get pushed aside
thus burying my pride
for society`s not able
to accept me as stable

I don`t fit the bill
so I`m given another pill
keeping me quiet
and there`ll be not riot !

but I won`t stay remain
the way they want, that`s plain
standing up for my rights
for I have a goal in my sights

I am me so take heed
steaming through with speed
proud to stand up tall
accept me as I am......that is all !

Autumn to Winter

Autumn`s golden hues
red and orange and yellow
trees alight with bright colours
carpets of leaves covering the ground
being splashed around by
wellington booted children
clad in scarves, hat and mitts,
puffing clouds of steam
as they race around the park.

the trees are looking bare
now they`ve lost their summer coats
but here and there a holly tree
defiant in its green
squirrels red and grey alike
stocking up their larders
to see the winter through.

darker now the evenings
and colder all around
people hurrying to get home
to warm their weary bones

the grass is crunchier underfoot
Jack frost has danced around
he leaves the park all muffled
impressions of black and white.
Winter has crept in
through the gap in Autumns door
and caught us all unaware
until it shouts...BOO !!!!!!

Warmth of the Fire

Sat there hunched in the cold of night
trying to keep warm by the fire
arms stretched towards the dancing flames
bright coloured points flashing higher

reds, oranges, yellows and white
flames dance as he starts to thaw through
the glow is reflected in his face
warmth begins to flow from head to toe

he continues to watch this fire
each flame shimmers in the light
like many veiled belly dancers
swaying into the fiery night

extremities tingling in to life
flickering flames warming him now
chattering teeth silenced from the cold
as deep within him, he starts to feel a glow.

My rights...!

Where did I go wrong ?
I know I must of
but others say not
my life is a mess
I just can`t go on !

housekeeper to the lot
councillor, banker too
or what ever they demand
cook, driver or adviser
it doesn`t matter to them !

I am my own person
but to look at me
you wouldn`t believe it
I wait to be told
what it wanted of me

they say the have a right
to a life of their own
that`s true...but don`t I too ?
don`t I also have needs
feelings and emotions ?

so I ask once more
where did I go wrong
this life I lead is not fair
we all have rights as people
and that includes me too !

Why not give it a go, you never know, it may help you !

Halloween Witch

With her stripey stockings
and a black pointed hat
travelling on a broom stick
accompanied by the cat

flying cross the landscape
causing mayhem everywhere
mumbling spells as she goes
creating sparks in the air

as the witches gather
on this Halloween night
parking up their broom sticks
it`s really quite a sight

in a clearing in the wood
                                                             many witches can be seen
                                                             casting their spooky spells
                                                             celebrating Halloween !

Woodland Peace

Strolling through a quiet woodland

dappled sun light filtering through
spreading soft glows upon the ground
revealing a swaying carpet of blue

muffled in the silence of this place

stillness fluttering through the sun shine
alone in this peacefulness
knowing that all of this is mine

the sun catches a wing in flight
a sound is heard but nothing seen
then eerie silence closes in
this wonderful woodland of green

where ever we are at this moment
may we find pure tranquillity
seeking peace with nature all around
so we can live in harmony

Walking through peaceful woodlands stills an aching spirit.

Sweet Dreams

After a hard day playing
it`s time for you to sleep
off to where you can dream
all comfy on the sofa
curled up snug and warm
thinking of tasty cream

you look so soft and fluffy
in the refection of the moon
whiskers caught in its light
purrfect as you sleep
sweet dreams little one
slumber on through the night

On Poppy Day
we take a moment
to think of all the ones
who lost their lives in war
so we may have our peace
 we wear our red poppies
with pride for all to
see and know
we will

Pumpkins and Kittens

Furry bundles and smiley faces
hidden amongst autumn colours
bright eyed and pricked ears
such a pair of merry brothers

reds, oranges through to browns
Sweet pumpkins cut by hand
while kittens play hide and seek together
this mischief making little band !

Chivalrous knights

This gallery of nobles

dressed in their finery
seated around the king
regal colours and ivory

knights dressed in armour
attendants ever ready
this tournament is set
atmosphere so heady

to win the great reward
young men to prove their worth
facing the king`s champion
this is their right since birth

the sounds of thunderous hooves
and mighty horses racing past
followed by clash of lances
their reactions need to be fast

defeated, the losers leave
the triumphant knights celebrate
with honours bestowed by the king
new champion they nominate

loud cheers of excited crowds
after the joust has been won
so let the feast commence
this kingdom will have some fun!

Hello Autumn

October rumblings
autumn`s now on its way
the warmth has left the sun
cold blue skies here to stay

weather`s unpredictable

but that's how I like it
maybe we`ll have snow soon
it strengthens the spirit!

bright colours on the trees

they`re changing their attire
orange, reds and yellows
summer can now retire

it`s like another world

low lying misty mornings
everything is shrouded
sending winter warnings

October`s a great month

marks a change in the year
for earth start to sleep
as winter will be here..

My turn !

Act your age, they say
why should I?  No way!!

I just wanna be me
live my life, be free

I have done all that
now I`ve hung up me hat

kids have now moved on
so it`s time for fun

I was there when needed
my advice was heeded

they have all done good
which is as they should

so now it`s my time
so I`ll end this rhyme !

Just a little poem about having fun now the kids have grown up.

China and Pearls

In the silence of this moment
memories treasured
time moves on slowly
with each hour of the day
sounds of sweet melody
in shade from the pear tree
whilst all dress up in pearls
for our afternoon tea
tunes running through my head
of a bygone era
as we danced through the tulips
on a long summer`s day
the clink of the china
along with twittering birds
these were the heady times
that will never be forgotten....!

Though you are a man
physically speaking
there is still a child inside
emotionally screaming
tearing you apart from within

Independence needed
maybe not an option
leads to frustration
in all walks of life
ripping at your very soul

Capability questionable
wanting to live your own life
that first leap of faith
real or imaginary
cutting the umbilical cord

We all go through this
at least once in our lives
leaving the safety of home
choosing our own pathway
standing on your own two feet!

Crushed Trust

gentle tears roll down my cheeks
emotions stirred in a painful way
crushed ambitions lay on the floor
there is nothing more for me to say

these situations are out of control
trust has been broken beyond repair
there`s no shoulder for me to cry on
no one to show me that they care

I`m hurt by all this goings on.....for
where there was joy and contentment
has now been torn apart.....and for what
now there is only sorrow and resentment

with red eyes and blurred vision
maybe it`s best to let the tears flow
and pray that tomorrow will bring hope
just wish this would hurry up and go !

    National Badger Day

This elegant gentleman of the countryside
so smartly dressed in his black suit
scurrying along his trusted hidden paths
rummaging for delicious worms and fruit

with such distinctive stripes seen upon his face
he`s quite a character to have around
as he sets off for his nocturnal rambles
snuffling along making a funny sound

with his nose twitching at every new scent
that he comes to find around the sett
this nightly hunter disappears through the brambles
he`s a wonderful creature we can`t forget
