Ballet of Light

amid a Gothic scene, alive in this place
such illuminating energy, so full of grace

by tall stone arches, dancing light is seen
such sheer movement, so bright and clean

column of ribbons that swirls and turns
bidding for the freedom that it yearns

lighting up the stone all around
weaving and turning without a sound

a ballet in motion, spinning on points
beautiful display that never disappoints

with such energy, passion and great flair
this mesmerizing dancer, dancing there

 Little Dreamer

Little sleepy head
what do you see
all snuggled up
in my duvet
little nose twitching
as you dream on

gentle purrs are heard
as you move your paw
run free in your world
your eyes shut tight
closed against the night
my sweet dreamer

chasing brown mice
through your dreamland
as you race around
while your body sleeps on
so rest now sleepy kitten
my little dreamer

My Angel

Miss your love and kindness
since the angels came for you
so now I look to the stars
and feel that you are near
watch over me from above
wrap me in your loving wings
walk with my along me journey
hand in hand keep me on track
until we meet up once more
I`ll always miss you!

Fishing

With all your gear, bait, rods and waders
off to the river bank you go
all set up, it`s time to cast
patience is what`s needed
will the fish respond?
watching the float
will they bite?
fishing

Heavenly Moon

This tiny speck of light
shining through the dark so bright
hovering up high in the sky
where angelic angels fly
this mysterious orb that I see
what, I wonder could it be
floating slowly on by .. blinking
smiling down on me and .. winking
it feels good to see it there
sparkling with so much flair
this sweet and heavenly sphere
that fills me with so much cheer
hope to see you again real soon
my heavenly bright shiny moon

On a clear night, it`s great to see the bright shiny orb we call the moon!

beautiful big green eyes
under his feathered hat
soft fur that's so elegant
he's such an eccentric cat !

when there's danger in the air

with great vigour and flare !

 Why I write..

Life is full of many different emotions,  these can be felt in a myriad of ways!

The passion of love, an attraction to our soul mate is a powerful emotion.  To be with the one we want to spent the rest of our life with as they become the centre of our world.

Becoming a parent is an amazing honour, to hold a child for the first time is such a proud moment. Helping them to develop, grow and eventually mature into adulthood. Teaching them the ways of the world, to cope with all the things that people, governments and nature in general is thrown at them.  Being there throughout the good times and a shoulder to cry on throughout the sad times.

Acknowledging achievements as the family grows up and children become independent are things that should be noted and recorded. To honour these achievements is a necessity
not just for them but for us too. memories are formed and held onto for the rest of our lives.

Watching our families move on, fall in love, get married and start families of their own.  Grandchildren to cherish and therefore more memories to collect.

Sadly at some point in life we will experience a death to either a family member or a close friend. This is heart breaking and a very emotional time. The memories that we have become so important and help us to cope with bereavement.

All these emotions mould us into who we are,  they strengthen us and sustain us throughout our lives.  I use these emotions, feeling memories and experiences to help me write. For all these are held in my heart, they flow through words found deep within my soul.
My poetry helps me to not explode, for like a pressure cooker, poems enables me to release the pressure of life by letting my pen flow freely, painting pictures with words from my heart.

I hope I can always be able to write, allowing my emotions to dance across paper and express my passions whether they are from sad, angry to happy and joyful.

This is why I write!

Summer solstice

on this mystical morning
sunrise dawns so bright
the longest day of the year
basking in blessed sunlight

amid these ancient stones
silence felt all around
magical moments held dear
celestial rituals found

enchanting summer solstice
the "sun stands still" they say!
over the tropic of Cancer
at it`s highest point today

druids, pagans and peace lovers
giving thanks to all that`s great
welcome in this summer solstice
as they come together to celebrate

Guardians of Nature

Sweet angels of the earth
fluttering through flowers
while sprinkling fairy dust
bringing happiness to all
wings sparkling in sunlight
as fairies skip and dance
opening up scented buds
in the colourful dawn
then lighting up fire flies
as twilight settles in
looking after all we have
these guardians of nature
the heart and soul of life
sweet and gentle fairies

 Step Father of the Bride

Dear Father, I just wanted to say
an huge thank you on my wedding day
you stood so tall and full of pride
watching as I become the bride

and as you walked me down the aisle
squeezed my hand and made me smile
it`wonderful how much you care
I`m so grateful to know you`re there

you've given me an amazing start in life
as today I said my vows and become a wife
so with a smile, I say a big thank you
for now my dreams have all come true!

Just saying!

Its hard to keep up
when people start to change
loyalties are stretched
emotions feel strange
yet a smile costs nothing
and a greeting is free
 so cut all this anger
come and say Hi to me!

Mirrored Beauty

Beauty that glides across a mirror
graceful and serene as she goes
slowly swimming elegantly
a picture of calmness that shows

Just beneath the waters surface
all is unseen frantic action
with feet like pistons pounding
allowing such graceful motion

Their long slender necks high up high
orange beaks and black eyes so bright
wings folded neatly towards their tail
shimmering white in the evening light

Feathers preened to perfection
this water`s home to great treasures
floating across so serenely
awesome to watch these great creatures

Today, I'm thinking of my father, memories of times spent together.  Long walks, driving to boarding school, his beloved garden and parishes. However the memory that comes to mind is that of his study, a mystical room we were not allowed in.

Happy Father's Day , miss our times together.

Dad`s Study

I loved my fathers study
an intriguing place to be
huge desk stood in the corner
I could hide, no one would see

blotting pad, pens, telephone
upon the desk was quite a mix

on the wall above his desk
hung a beautiful crucifix

from his old Windsor chair
the laid out garden he could spy
while writing his Sunday sermon
when in his room, time would fly

nearby there`s chairs and a table
where visitors come to sit and chat
about a christening or wedding
and many more things like that

along one wall an old bookcase
filled with books of many titles
boring colours, written pages
prayer books and different bibles

father`s study was a special place
where he was the parish priest
we were not really allowed in there
that`s where kindness was released

Stone Guards

Standing like guards
beside our oceans
surveying all
of the tidal motions

scarred by the wind
with sand by their feet
forever vigilant
but happy to greet

these soldiers of time
have stood here for years
watching the world
yet shedding no tears

a testament to life
these stone guardians
who`ll remain on duty
as beach custodians

Red luscious rich fruit
An infusion of sweetness
Soft and squishy to the touch
Pulled off its stalk hanging down
Berries chilled, eaten with cream
Each drupelet explodes in the mouth
Rather not drop for they`ll splatter
Refreshing the taste buds
Yummy summery tasty fruit

Floating Moon

seen from across the waters
reflected upon its surface
this bright celestial orb
floating onward with purpose

dark mottled markings seen
through the silhouetted branches
stars shimmering in the night sky
all bidding for their chances

onward through the night it flows

lighting up its pathway
mirrored from above and below
travelling on until break of day

Hello up there!

Hello up there, little pussy cat
I can see you, what you looking at?
high up on our little flat roof
if I close my eyes, will you go poof?

it`s too nice to stay in your bed
I love the way you cock your head
it`s great to see you outside
peeping down. with eyes so wide

a swish of you tail, off you go
where you explore, I don`t know
my cheeky little tuxedo feline
you are free to explore anytime

Nature`s Storm

The air feels heavy
pressure pushing down
skies dark and foreboding
a storm`s coming to town

there's a silence felt
like a pause in time
shrouding the whole area
muffling the clock chime

as the storm rolls in
day light disappears
thunder rumbles through
playing on inner fears

streaks of electricity
descend from the heavens
loud clashes of thunder
like gods mighty weapons

rain lashes down hard
beating against the windows
we'll ride out this fierce storm
until we spy the rainbows

Secretive Dragon

A bright flash of white enamel
swish from its powerful tail
red hot fire from the nostrils
glimpse of black and green scale

awesome strength it empowers
that you can`t underestimate
as it sits on its growing hoard
of gold it endeavors to accumulate

and then when you least expect it
this creature can easily sniff you out
from deep within its dark stone cave
it can sense you anywhere, never doubt

whether you believe in them or not
I`m certainly sire that they won`t mind
for there will always be room for dragons
they`re hidden in plain sight for you to find!

Colourful Ocean

under the surface of deep blue
ebbing and flowing each way
a kaleidoscope of colours
seed in the bright light of day

many different creatures
swim along the ocean floor
amongst the rocks and coral
not far from the sandy shore

a flash of shimmering fin
spectacular in morning light
even an eye is seen hiding
creating a mystical sight

a hidden underwater world
brimming with colourful creatures
wonders of the marine life
an ocean filled with treasures

Kittens

Kittens looking so cute
Inquisitive and playful
Tumbling off the sofa
Tunnelling under cushions
Energetic and so funny
Nudging in beside me
Snuggled up fast to sleep!

Love Stone Stack

Walking on the beach in summer
I'm thinking of you, my love
since the Angels came and took you
to be with them up above

I look for flat stones in the sand
ones shaped by the ocean
pale pinks and blues are best
smoothed by the water's motion

then looking for a quiet spot
to share our memories
I place one on top another
to the sea`s melodies

each stone representing a year
that we spent together
every summer I make this stack
to hold your love forever

Memories help keep the love alive..!

Mornings

Bright lights shining through my curtains
the whole sky full of vibrant hues
birds chirping with the dawn`s chorus
I`m laying here, just wanting to snooze.

the colours of the sky have changed now
awakening to the full rays of the sun
I am ready for what is thrown at me
hope it`s full of laughter and fun.

my daffodils are flowering in the kitchen
my tulips are blooming in the front yard
the sun beats down upon my shoulders
the garden`s looking just like a postcard

sweet aroma of fresh coffee fills the air
the crunch of toast as I sit and eat
the morning paper rests beside me
my start of the day is now complete.
