National Poetry Writing Month

Day 1

Today, we`d like to challenge you to spend a few minutes looking at a piece of art that interests you from the New York`s Metropolitan Museum of Art.   Select your piece, study it and then write a poem.

a face ween within a crowd
captured in a moment of time
with fine chiseled feathers
young beauty in his prime

with elegant braided hair
he stands tall for all to see
for serving his Pharaoh well
means everything for his city

finest scents and jewellery
family ambitions planned
with a beautifully kept home
many servants at his command

immaculate in every way
he stands tall with poised lips
power, wisdom and honour held
the future at his finger tips
