Colours of Bereavement

A quiet moment to ponder
to think things through and see
the kaleidoscope of life
is bearing down on me

the colours that were first seen
after that dreadful day
were all so foreboding
like dark blacks and grey

a shaft of light has started
to peep through stormy skies
black begins to turn to blues
that`s what happens after someone dies

as despair starts to slip away
the colours change again
greens and reds begin to show
does this also happen to men?

anniversaries come and go
the light is getting stronger
colours twist and change again
more brighter tones stay longer

oranges and pinks now show
a smile upon my face
whites and creams are appearing next
and a spring is in my pace
if you could see me now, my love
you`d see a different person
bright colours all around me now
as I know that I can carry on.

Never..

piercing pain felt deep
never deminishes
eating away at my soul
never to feel safe
within your loving arms
never to hear
tender whispers in my ear
never to see you
walk through the front door
call out my name
and give me a mighty hug!

Frosty start....

With gloves and keys in hand
the car is covered in ice
encased in a layer of white
there`s scraping to be done!
it takes some time to clear
with billowing clouds of breath
the chore is now complete
engine roaring, heater blowing
all strapped in for the ride
the car is steaming up!
it`s now time to set off
and explore the wintry world

My little cat is hungry
which makes her really angry
all my cupboards are empty
so it`s off to the shop
there`s no time to stop
until we have food a plenty !

Daughter

to my gorgeous and loving daughter
who fills my heart with happiness
proud of all that you`ve achieved
your beauty shines so bright
may your life be full
with joy and love
smile my dear
daughter

Solitude

Silence of the moment
in the stillness of time
caught in the sunlight
sheer innocence seen

Double Joy....

Welcoming our bundles of joy
two pairs of feet and hands
bright eyes that show pure love
and curls of golden strands

hearing their gurgling sounds
our great joy can not be beat
sharing the love of twins
our family`s now complete

Christmas Cheer!

It`s that time of year again
the excitement is growing
everyone has their secrets
there`s no sign of it slowing

Shopping bags and packages
sticky tape, and wrapping paper...
cards written and presents done
all this fun is such a caper

Decorations all in place
just love the atmosphere
raise you glass everyone
for Christmas time is here!

Christmas count down has started !!

That Festive Feeling!

It`s a Merry Christmas kind of feeling
tree is up and tinsel hangs from the ceiling

presents wrapped in different coloured paper
all stacked up like a towering skyscraper

cards with cheery messages are seen
along with festive decorations in-between

with family favourite on the telly
and wonderful treats at the ready

so as all our family comes together
this is a wonderful time to treasure

Jack Frost...

My window is covered in ice

a white blanket engulfs everything

spiky branches silhouette the moon

as a mist can be seen all around

the howling winds swirl about

temperatures have dipped below zero

glistening spider webs span the plants

tiny foot prints across my path way

Jack Frost has been dancing here

he has left his mark for all to see

Its getting colder now as winter is tapping on my door

I remember stories of Jack Frost when I was a kid.

Christmas Holly

Christmas snow lies over the land
surrounded by reds and greens of the holly
beautiful to see yet sharp in hand
may this festive season be so jolly
