City Skyline

Mirrored reflections

reaching up to the sky

tall straight structures

layered up on high

These angled giants

seen in many ways

wrapped all around

through the nights and days

swelling up before me

concrete architecture

all eyes staring out

from each living structure

reflected at angles

deceptive to the eye

windows that stare out

all against the sky

noises bouncing off

filling the air with sound

even slanting across

they all touch the ground

Skyscrapers stand proud

looking down on me

crowding all about

makes for a great city..!

Mister Robin

The muffled silence of this winter garden

sparkling with ice on the branches of trees

the festive season is here once again

wildlife still thrives even through this freeze

for snow has settled on every surface

paw prints make patterns in the deep crisp snow

there amongst the branches he sits watching

Mister Robin`s bright red waist coat for show

looking smart as he`s dressed in his finest

his chest puffed out with pride for all to see

singing his song as he views the garden

from way up high in his snow covered tree

with black beady eyes darting all around

there`s nothing he`ll miss from his world on high

from the fat house cat to the grey pigeon

he`s waiting for his supper, he`s so sly !

love that the festive season has started

for white powered snow is found everywhere

Mister Robin is perched on my apple tree

looking like a very smart millionaire!

Christmas count down has started !!

Christmas Cheer!                  

It`s the festive time of year again
excitement should be growing
yet the high street s closed right now
so internet is where we`re all going

waiting for postie with our packages
finding sticky tape, and wrapping paper...
as cards are written and gifts hidden
all this secrecy is such a caper

bright decorations around the house

the tree creates a fab atmosphere
having virtual conversations this year

for we`re going to celebrate right here!

Cat amongst the Presents

Christmas is fun for us all and very amusing to our pets.  I have two mischievous cats.  it`s so funny to watch them chase after all the ribbons and torn wrapping paper, until they tire themselves out and curl up asleep among the mess, purring contentedly.

Cat amongst the presents...

I see a little nose peeping through

all the wrapped presents under the tree

pointed ears twitching through the bows

as your loud purrs are heard happily

it`s so funny to watch you pounce

amongst all the torn wrappings

your tail swishing as you jump around

the Christmas decorations and trappings

tail in the air and your head on the ground

bottom wiggling as you`re ready to pounce

then there`s a flurry of fur darting by

as a bright coloured gift goes bounce

it`s lovely to see all the fun you`ve had

dashing and scurrying all around

but now you have tired yourself out

looking through, there`s only a purring sound

Pancakes on the balcony

Eager to help others

Theatre is in the blood

staring a new decade

with an enormous bang!

flashes of lights welcome the year

as through the back door

 Covonavirus appears

fear and uncertainty

fill our whole lives now

with restrictions and two lockdowns

no mixing or holidays

til we`ve seen this disaster through

so follow all the rules

and we`ll beat this virus

wash hands, wear masks and social distance

so lets stick to every rule

in the end we`ll beat this damn beast!

People of the Forest
Young ones smile at their mothers
Generally solitary creatures
Males develop large jipeks
Able to use tools to assist them
Each night they build nests to sleep
Utilising all around them
Swinging from tree to tree

You are Strong!

always remember that no matter what

you are stronger than you think you are

deep in your soul there`s the will to survive

just remember you`re a bright shining star

hold your head up high with a big smile

know that you can overcome anything

and with great support by your side

you will be able to conquer everything

remember you are an amazing person

though you feel low with the life you lead

you will sparkle, laugh and smile again

for deep down you have the ability to succeed!

Silence

Silence is golden

or so they say

but I see silence

in a silver way

silence is peaceful

shining bright

refreshingly good

sparkling with light

muffling the sounds

all around

so you`re left in peace

harmony is found

floating on air

wondering

whether this will last

I`m still pondering.

White feathers

To find a little white feather

in some particular place

I know that my guardian Angel

is holding me in their embrace

for when your down and lonely

your Angel will always be there

sending down a little white feather

as a sign that they really do care

so always keep these feathers safe

and when ever you`re in need of love

your guardian Angel will send hugs

a sign all the way from heaven above !

Master Penguin. 🐧

This jolly little feathered friend

dressed up in black and white

with wings that won't let him fly

waddling through snow, quite a sight

Agile in these icy waters

seeking out his abundant food

as he dives amongst his group

like a playful kid in a happy mood

Huddled together through bad weather

protecting the next generation

snowy storms may rage about him

as he shows great dedication

This intrepid little penguin

smartly dressed in his fine attire

surviving in this snow bound landscape

with his great heart so full of fire!

The Mad Hatter`s tea party

with cakes and icecream

lots of games and laughter

causing quite a scream

door mouse is hiding

amongst many tea pots

while March Hare's looking smart 

and The Hatter's chatting lots

with fancy hats and presents

we`re here to have some fun

sharing tasty pots of tea

around the table in the sun

 Penguins

These cheeky little feathery chappies

in smart black jackets they waddle

among the boulders on the shore edge

before gathering together in a huddle

Penguins are amazing creatures

who love to toboggan down a slope

slithering down on their stomachs 

than back again, they don't need a rope!

they're so comical and friendly

diving down and splashing around 

confidently swimming through water

masters of the ocean, they've been crowned.

flapping their wings while waddling along

watch these handsome penguins go

amazing flightless aquatic birds 

come by and visit them and say hello!

Tender Elephants

Majestic motherly mammals
meandering along the trail
linked together like a chain
from their long trunks to slender tail

a mother and her young baby
are protected by the whole herd
tender touches coax the young one
throaty sounds of happiness are heard

emotional and tender creatures
caring for each family member
they mourn openly for their loved ones
elephants will always remember

I love being given challenges and a friend set a the task of writing about elephants and how they show emotions in three verses.  This is what I came up with.

Apocalypse


He is coming
this mutant
the one who spreads fear
his dark blue armour
immortality
power and evil

fear his coming
to reek havoc
for five thousand years
he`s traveled the world
anticipating
his sheer battle cry

this mighty beast
afraid of no man
will take on any creature
be prepared for fierce fighting
invincibility
he will never lose

Apocalypse
rejected at birth
so revenge is all he knows
super human abilities
gigantic proportions
the world to conquer

World Kindness Day

the gentle caring for a troubled world

where all appears to be in pain

we have to look to a better future

full of smiles and laughter again

to stretch out a helping hand today

and show kindness to a stranger

a little bit of generosity 

can guide someone out of danger

in these tough times, it`s great to smile

show a caring heart to someone

and celebrate World  kindness Day

65 Years

Precious moments remembered

as your love can not be measured

though sadly you`re no longer here

memories of you both are treasured

hand in hand or a snatched secret kiss

the love you shared was magical

so glad to call you mum and dad

and making family life wonderful

I find myself remembering you both

on this your very special day

just know that you`re held in my heart

Happy sixty fifth wedding anniversary!

Rudolph

there goes Rudolph the red nosed reindeer

leading Santa`s sleigh through the sky

carrying gifts for boys and girls

hear the gentle footsteps

landing on the roof

gifts from Santa

delivered

they fly
