amazing unexpected homes

dry stone walls full of texture

to concrete covered in lichen 

each curve creates a structure

each silk strand is placed with care 

forming a structure of sheer beauty

fragile to the eye  but full of strength

to construct one is a daily duty

utilizing all nooks and crannies

with such a clever dexterity

building beautiful creations

who knew they had this ability

Sweet Dreams

After a hard day playing

it`s time for you to sleep

off to where you can dream

all comfy on the sofa

curled up snug and warm

thinking of tasty cream

you look so soft and fluffy

in the refection of the moon

whiskers caught in its light

purrfect as you sleep

sweet dreams little one

slumber on through the night

Urban Flight

Freedom on a skateboard

to fly through an urban land

ability to go anywhere you want

four wheels balanced to the hand!

jetting across old concrete

and reflected in city glass

the thrill of being speed junkies

the world a blur as you pass

with the breeze in your face

complete balance of man and board

with total control in motion

you feel like an urban lord !

On a smooth flat green ,all dressed in white

balls at the ready, let the game begin

taking turns to roll nearest to the jack

World Bee day!   

Giving thanks to our humble bumble bees, that do so much for us in our gardens.

Mr Bumble Bee 

loud buzzing  announces
there are bumble bees about
hopping from flower to flower
collecting the pollen while out

his big fat striped body
held high on stubby wings
buzzing around everywhere
following directions from one that sings

love to hear him, as he goes
its a sign that summers here
pollinating the fruit trees
I salute him with a cheer!
great sounds of the bumble bees

Nature's Blessings

Quiet solitude of natural beauty

rhythmic sounds of a little brook

bright chirpings of bird song

we should never be afraid to look

ruffling sounds of movement on leaves

buzzing of humble bumblebees 

collecting pollen for their family

heard on a gentle summer breeze

solitude of nature, that wraps

us in her welcoming arms

shielding us from modern sounds

engulfing us is her wondrous charms.

Memory Lane

A flower without it`s garden

a sky without it`s blue

that`s how it fees everyday

when our lives without you

I found a place within my heart

it was called Memory Lane

I ventured there one more time

hoping I could see you once again

some days a poem is hard to write

and sometimes they`re easy to do

but every time I write a verse

it helps me remember you

I`ve seen many smiles turn to sadness

it feels like there`s nothing I can do

only hold your love in my heart

and hold onto great memories of you.

Mental Health Awareness Week

Depression hits people is many ways, so many people have been effected with mental health issues, especially through Covid and now the cost of living and so much more. We can never prepare for, but have to work through to the end.

The Emotional state of Affairs

This emotional tide is so devastating

it takes me through all the highs and lows

such extremes affects my mental balance

inability to react with others, really shows

this world feels so heavy on my shoulders

a crushing sensation weighs upon my soul

what should of been a normal reaction

sends me crashing under the strain as a whole

for depression isn't just a sadness

it`s  a complete emptiness as well

somehow you feel so utterly trapped

locked in a prison, just wanting to yell

spiralling downwards into an abyss

for nothing feels it will ever be right

though I'm told that I should cheer up and smile

I would prefer to hide and stay out of sight

a sinking sensation settles upon me

I feel my back is pushed against the wall

where should I go? there`s no where to run to

who`s there to help me, who do I call?

for all these dark feelings binding me to the floor

tears trickling down my cheek, I feel so doomed

escape seems so futile here within my world

this depression has me, I'm totally consumed

I dream of who you might become

the talents you will acquire

where you go throughout your life

will you get all that you desire

explore, learn and even wealthy

Coronation Day

The scene is set for a spectacular day

sharing such an historical occasion

of the coronation of King Charles

witnessed by a new generation

a day filled with pomp and ceremony

 a golden carriage and pageantry 

Westminster Abbey was the setting

robes, crowns and plenty gallantry 

four thousand armed force parade

culminating with a balcony view

as we start the reign of a new king

London covered in red, white and blue

This day will always be remembered

diversity pf music and voices heard

history has been made upon this day

Thunderous Steam

Steaming through the wintry light

powering along steel tracks

puffing out a trail of smoke

travelling along to the max

Chugging past the countryside

as evening begins to set in

billowing clouds of black smoke

with it`s bright lantern shinin`!

Storming round this mighty curve

and thundering along the rails

feeling the movement under foot

just showing it`s size and scale

This awesome beast of the steam age

reminds us of times gone by

and to see the trains still working

so pleasing to the soul and eye

The sheer power of this steam train

blasting it`s way over this land

long may this relic from the past

show us that travel can be grand..!

The Flying Businessman

Pete the flying businessman

soaring through the skies

paraffin Pete in his Cessna

every journey`s a surprise.

living in Cirencester

giving life a loving call

working hard in Switchgears

instrumentations and all.

Pete has his claim to fame though

he schooled with our PM

learning with D Cameron

wow!, are they buddies, then?

as Pete works hard and fast

his leisure time he needs

polo with its` chukkas

and pool, where he succeeds

paraffin Pete, the flier

who always has a smile

say "Hi " if you meet him

our businessman with style.
