Since my husband was given his wings, I have written a Christmas poem, this is my poem for this year.

Merry Christmas Steve

Wish I could call you on my mobile
and tell you how much you're missed
for you hold a piece of my heart
as you fly high with the angels
all through this year's Christmas
I find I miss you more and more

it`s the little things we did together
that I know I`ll always remember
cheeky laughter and lovely smile
the way you brighten up a room
with you thirst for all knowledge
and your love and joy for nature

so this Christmas is no different
there`s an empty chair at our table
no gifts from you under the tree
but we have many great memories
to hold onto this festive season
maybe I`ll try a text for next year

Merry Christmas Steve

Christmas is fun for us and very amusing to our pets.  I remember my two mischievous cats chasing after all the ribbons and wrapping paper, until they tire themselves out and curl up asleep among the mess, purring contentedly.

Cat amongst the Presents

I see a little nose peeping through
all the wrapped presents under the tree
pointed ears twitching through the bows
as your loud purrs are heard happily

it`s so funny to watch you pounce
amongst all the torn wrappings
your tail swishing as you jump around
the Christmas decorations and trappings

tail in the air and your head on the ground
bottom wiggling as you`re ready to pounce
then there`s a flurry of fur darting by
as a bright coloured gift goes bounce

it`s lovely to see all the fun you`ve had
dashing and scurrying all around
but now you have tired yourself out
looking through, there`s only a purring sound

 Power of Nature!

By the shores of Lake Ontario
in the depth of a severely cold winter
frozen winds redecorate the houses
forming ice sculptures that glitter

as the fierce winds whip up the waves
covering this world in a layer of icing
encasing the surrounding buildings
like plaster, nature is sculpturing

trees that take on an eerie existence
branches shrouded in dirty veils
distorted shapes through the storm
thrown around in these strong gales

when everything ceases, there`s silence
and stillness engulfs the whole area
nature`s destruction has stopped
further wintry storms would be scarier

      It`s Snowing Outside

Settled by the roaring fire
glowing embers from within
crackling as the logs burn
feeling the warmth on my skin

snuggled up on the couch
as the daylight slowly dies
cosy under luxurious furs
while flames mesmerise my eyes

outside the snow is falling
covering the world in white
feel safe and warm by the fire
as the day slips into night

Wise Owl Hunting

Watching, wondering
the wise old owl looks
ever vigilant
its talons, curled hooks

listening tentatively
for mice down below
as she sits so still
silent as the snow

her plumage blends in
with nature around
patience is the game
as she makes no sound

how long she will wait
longer than I would
her eyes miss nothing
for this owl`s so good

I watch her for hours
now chilled to the bone
so I`ll take my leave
let her hunt alone

Snow

landscape carpeted in soft white snow
muffled in silence all around
gentle crunch heard underfoot
kids in scarves, mitts and hats
snowmen standing tall
happy children
snowball fun
winter
snow

Merry Christmas !

With the tree all decorated
all the presents wrapped up too
cards festooned around the room,
ready to spend Christmas with you

stockings hang on the mantelpiece
while a roaring log fire warms
watching the snow falling outside
as the landscape slowly transforms

what will Santa bring this year
to all the good girls and boys
they will have to wait until morn
for their gifts of sweets and toys

so taking this moment to relax
before the festive season starts
wanted to wish a Merry Christmas
from the bottom of our hearts

Our pets are a huge part of our family life and give affection freely.  They help our mental health, unconditional love and are also great company.

Why not celebrate our love with a poet name poem with a photo to show how much we appreciate them.

Here are a couple of pet name poems I wrote for some of my beautiful cats.

Bubbles and Squeak

such an honour to have known this pair
great feline sisters,  full of love
full of boundless energy
bright eyed and bushy tailed
enjoyed their cuddles
great sun seekers
loud purring
soft fur
cats

A Wintry Night

All is quiet on this wintry night
snow gently covering everywhere
turning all the landscape white
there`s great excitement in the air

sky scattered with millions of stars
lanterns lighting our travels home
twinkling amongst the snowflakes
welcoming all from where they roam

all snuggled cosy by a roaring fire
as snow slowly blankets the ground
sipping a mug of frothy hot chocolate
peace, warmth and comfort is found

Let it Snow

On a cold and wintry evening
tiny snowflakes float gently down
silently covering the countryside
blanketing all around the town

roads and paths begin to disappear
trees and buildings change their shape
as the snow creates new sculptures
  fashioning an eerie landscape

the festive season is upon us
by the door a lantern shine bright
such a joyful image to behold
welcoming all who travel tonight

Christmas Baubles

Nesting in my Christmas tree
amongst all the shiny needles
caught up in the twinkling lights
brightly colored baubles hang
reflecting our world upside down
on these smooth curved orbs
along with stars and ribbons
as they decorate our tree..!
gold, red, green and blue
each one has a story to tell
some hold precious memories
or received from distant places
and perched upon the top
an angel watches from on high
white robes and golden wings
angelic guardian of us all

Snowflakes and Secrets

Cold wintry morning
land is carpeted in white
soft individual flakes
flutter down out of sight

each snowflake is different
formed from high up in the clouds
full of beauty in minuteness
yet the earth, it enshrouds

flakes flitter free from on high
silent secrets hidden out of sight
locked in each tiny crystal
snowflakes and secrets, magical sight!

Winter Fairy

a blanket of white covers the land
muffling each and every sound
for winter has come a calling
the Ice Fairy has been crowned

Mother Nature wraps her in white
creatures keep watch over her
winter has visited this garden
all is at peace so no need to stir!

Love creating shaped poems,  this one is all about a country cottage. Inspired by the keyring I knit and sell.

Hi
country cottage in the woods
thick thatched roof hanging low
over small windows that look out
on the garden full of bright colours
roses, wisteria to foxglove and phlox
small windows shelters by thatch
wide open letting all the scent in
winding  pathleading to the door
fairytale colours to compliment the
countryside found around the home. A small stone wall surrounds this cottage

Autumn to Winter

Autumns golden hues
red and orange and yellow
trees alight with bright colours
carpets of leaves covering the ground
being splashed around by
wellington booted children
clad in scarves, hat and mitts,
puffing clouds of steam
as they race around the park.

The trees are looking bare
now they`ve lost their summer coats
but here and there a holly tree
defiant in its green
squirrels red and grey alike
stocking up their larders
to see the winter through.

Darker now the evenings
and colder all around
people hurrying to get home
to warm their weary bones

The grass is crunchier underfoot
Jack frost has danced around
he leaves the park all muffled
impressions of black and white.
winter has crept in
through the gap in Autumns door
and caught us all unaware
until it shouts BOO!

Stones of Remembrance

Large smooth rounded stones , foundations to build a life
each stone balanced by faith as memories are held together

bright sunray, light up each stone, capturing precious moments
safely stored for evermore by adding new stones to the stack

defying gravity as the stack grows holding magical times at heart
continuing to add new thoughts, a life time of love kept together.

Home Coming!

winds howl and snow blankets all the land
dark sky`s lit by millions of stars

Cheshire Cat

Mysterious mythical cat
with his uniquely strange ways
you may even have noticed
I`m not all here myself, he says

quite an unusual character
sat high up in his own tree
can you stand on your head?
we`re all mad here, you see!

purple and pink stripped fur
 big grin that`s mischievous
a cheeky twinkle in his eyes
all normality, he`s oblivious

imagination is only a weapon
in the war against reality
this Cheshire Cat would say
while he grins up in his tree!

no time to fret in wonderland
just smile, or you`ll explode
for you see, we`re all mad here
just travel along your chosen road

♬🎜It`s World Nursery Rhyme Week  ⭐

As we`re celebrating nursery rhymes this week, i thought I would share my poem about nursery rhyme land, from jack and Jill to Goldilocks, there`s plenty of characters to meet.

Nursery Rhyme Land

There`s a hole in my bucket
I knew it wasn't there before
on my way with Jack up the hill
to fetch some water, t`was our chore!

Miss Muffet was going to join us
but she was scared off by the spider
will miss eating her curds and whey...
she`s gone to the pub for cider

so we met up with the three pigs
as the wolf had destroyed their homes
walked to market for a new bucket
then had tea with our friends the Gnomes

Humpty Dumpty was feeling ill
he had fallen into a swoon
so we sent Puss In Boots to see
and he gave him a dish and spoon

Goldilocks was feeling lonely
the bears were away in Hong Kong
so later that night we all met up
and had a great big sing a long!
