 Spring Beauty in a Vase

Daffodils and tulips

standing proud on my table

bright yellows and purples

flowering tall and stable

sun touching velvet petals

catching their texture in the light

sweet aromas filling my kitchen

oh, such an uplifting sight

each morning flowers greet me

as I make my morning coffee

spreading much love and joy

a little present just for me

spring flowers in my kitchen

filling me with happiness

bringing my garden inside

overflowing with cheerfulness

Special Memories

holding onto sweet memories

of all the times we spent together

locking them safe and secure

deep within my heart forever

one day we`ll be together again

A rose can say so much more than I love you!

Eternal Rose

A red rose for you my love

to show how much I care

from a tiny little bud

peeping through the mists of time

growing slowly with each day

as tender love is shown

fed with kindness

as the petals start to open

pure beauty is seen inside

promising much treasure

through the sun light

releasing such a sweet fragrance

the flower opens completely

such an awesome sight

Moon`s Journey

As the sun descends to the depths 

this celestial moon rides the night

rising slowly over the horizon

shining down the earth with delight

world sleeps through this darkness

unaware of the earth`s rotation

this graceful moon glides on above

heading westward to it`s destination

amongst the stars this orb continues

it`s journey across the night sky

beautiful and silent as it goes

influencing nature from on high

Words

Words are always around us

the building blocks to our world

instructions, stories and records 

all this vocabulary unfurled

love, learning, power and joy

communication is the key

expressions of the way we feel

allowing you to talk to me !

words flow freely from deep within
for each letter plays it`s part
filling our world with descriptions
and painting pictures for the heart

happy words, encouraging words

some for every occasion

loving, coaxing or emotional 

words for celebration.

sadly there are hurtful words

that can break a person`s heart

sad words, painful words

that tear many people apart !

 words can be felt, spoken and read
creating pictures for all to see
creating memories to treasure
so choose your words carefully

Ghost Ship

Through the thick mists of time

with her sails all unfurled

she glides majestically on
as if she rules the world

billowing white canvas sails
attached to masts so tall
while southerly winds do blow
this phantom follows her call

cursed to continually travel

with a Jolly Roger flying high

her crew rattling their swords

as the Ghost Ship passes on by!

The symbol of a rose
inflicts much emotion
soft velvety petals
flowing like an ocean !

bright hues of colour
and aromas so sweet
bombarding the senses
like a tantalising treat

so soft and so mystic
yet hidden from sight
sharp thorns that draw blood
in the dark depths of night

hold close to your heart
and treat with great care

Snowdrops

Peeping through the snow

sweet little white bells appear

giving hint of spring!

Morning lie-ins

A shaft of morning sun light

drifts across the duvet covers

creating patterns as it moves

revealing the sleeping lovers

Bleary eyed and so reluctant

to take advantage of the day

hair spread across the pillow

maybe later would be okay

Curled up warm under the covers

as the sun rays move slowly round

snuggled in together they stay

birds singing, the only sound

Far to comfy to make a move

much better to stay and snooze on

another half hour won`t hurt

morning lie ins are much more fun!

Frogs Eyes

Two big eyes just visible

breaking the surface with ease

blinking in the bright sun shine

just floating, if you please!

a sudden noise and down they drop

back into the depths of the pond

a ripple on the water

shows us how they did respond

as the water settles again

you`re left there to ponder on

for where there were two eyes,  now

a croak, a splash and they`re gone

Storm Eowyn

The sky begins to darken

as rain starts to lash down

winds blasting from the west

hitting many a city and town

with roads and bridges closed

and no trains will run today

all school are empty now

not a child seen out to play

make sure that you are safe

this storm will be so fierce

trees and houses will be hit

howling gales that pierce

it`s best to remain indoors

safe from this howling storm

while winds and rain rage on

where we`ll be safe and warm

   Love is..

Love is                     patient

love is kind               and gentle

it does not boast        or hurt anyone

love is not proud or rude love is not self 

seeking or keeps records of wrong doings

it`s tender and caring building memories

 together. Love is not blind, but sees all 

 that is true. Love is an unconditional 

commitment.  Love is a decision,

strong feeling a judgement.

 On a clear night, it`s great to see this bright shiny orb we call the moon!

 

Heavenly Moon

This circle of bright light

shining through the dark at night

way up high in the sky

where angelic angels fly

this orb of fire that I see

glistening down upon me

a warm glow up in the sky

watching us like a caring eyes

this sweet heavenly sphere

that fills my heart with cheer

hope I'll see you again soon

my shiny heaven sent moon

 Lazy Sundays

  Shhh! its Sunday...a day of rest
  chill and relaxation is the best
  hot coffee while reading the paper
  quiet moments that we need to savour
  wafting aromas of a Sunday roast
  then maybe a stroll along the coast
  evenings in front of a roaring fire
  counting the years until we retire
  soft gentle memories remain so clear
  of lazy Sundays that are so dear

I saw a lovely photograph of a lake surrounded with trees and rocks creating a mirror image on the waters surface.  It was beautiful and so peaceful. I just wanted to step in and reflect.  Some where to meditate.

Mysterious Tranquility

standing by the waters edge

watching the clouds reflected

touched by the mystery

just feeling so connected

landscape mirrored on the surface

reflecting every rock and tree

opening your soul`s window

creating tranquility

silence is broken by a screech

and a fluttering of feathers

as an eagle swoops over

disappearing into the heathers

waters cold upon my feet

rippling over my skin

as I stand in the shallows

fighting the urge to step in

this place is full of mystery

mirroring your inner peace

nature at its purest

full of contentment and grace.

Silence, tranquillity

reverence, humility

beauty is everywhere

for us all to share

colours and textures

fragrance and pictures

red, green and yellows

family, fun and meadows

blue, purple and cream

frogs by the stream

children`s activity

ball games and poetry

as we rest in these places

laughter and smiles are sighted

as families are united

I have had to get up early this morning, and found the car all frozen over, fun and games to clear it, before being able to drive off !!

              With gloves and keys in hand               

the car is covered in ice

encased in a layer of white

there`s scraping to be done!

it takes some time to clear

with billowing clouds of breath

the chore is now complete

engine roaring, heater blowing

all strapped in for the ride

the car begins to steam up!

it`s now time to set off

and explore the wintry world

Misty mornings are mystical,  inspiring my day.

The same walk can be so different at the start of each day.

I wrote this poem 11 years ago and yet it still relevant today.

Always be aware and enjoy nature all around us. 

 

 Through Misty Woods

When everything

just gets to me

there's this place

I escape to

along the path

through misty woods

tall trees stand there

disappearing

into the mists

leading to peace

my haven there

through misty woods

shadows abound

mysteries here

somewhere to hide

no one would know

here I can walk

through misty woods

these mossy trees

standing in line

leading me on

along the track

to my escape

through misty woods
