Be Inspired
Orange is a vibrant colour with numerous shades
each evoking different feelings and emotions
coral, pumpkins, tangerines, vermillion
making up part of sunsets across many oceans
peaches, oranges, amber from millions of years ago
garden a blaze with colours, tulips, dahlias and a rose
every changing trees dressed in rich autumn colours
Tigger, Garfield and a bright safety vest that glows
Sainsbury bags, traffic cones, wrapping paper, clownfish
stripey tigers, orangutans, parrots, monarch butterflies,
from Mother Nature, manmade inventions

Icy Heart
bitter love, icy to the touch
breaks with a snap, this heart so cold
resisting comfort at every turn
choosing to remain out of the fold
warmth has departed from this soul
the core is all frozen solid
spreading through this poor creature
left unchecked, will become squalid
ever to roam the wilderness
so bitter and broken hearted
shivering, it`s chilled to the bone
as sadly love has departed
please take pity of this creature
for this could be you one day
show mercy to the ones that need it
kindness can start in such a small way!

Life`s Journey
I am a daughter
new to this world
learning as I grow
finding my way
testing my world
with every step I go
I am a sister
sharing the family
growing up together
companionship
learning through play
holding onto each other
I am a wife
my heart full of love
new life to explore
setting up a new home
building a life together
with the man I adore
I am a mother
with a growing family
loving, nurturing each child
home full of squeals and laughter
lives to mould and shape
responsible caring and mild
I am a widow
full of grief , but striving on
with my family a round me
yet, time is a healer
staying for the family
a new future to see
one day a grandmother
matriarch of them all
life will be awesome
spoiling the grandkids
telling them stories
laughter, joy and fun

Pictures in my Head
sat here with pen in hand
poised to write the next verse
images rolling around my mind
penning these creations can be a curse
I see pain, sunsets and love
visions both cruel and sweet
yet I must select the right one
this urge to write will not be beat
ink flows across my paper
words painting pictures for me
like an image slowly forming
yet it doesn't always set me free
once started I have go on
until the piece in complete
freestyle or verse, prose or haiku
my pen dances over many a sheet
for poetry completes my day
visualizing their imagery
painting pictures with words from the heart
that can be seen so vividly

Smile, it`s Autumn
Autumn, such a fantastic season
filled with many vibrant colours
from orange, brown, red and yellow
with trees dressed up in colourful coats
nights drawing in and colder
sitting by a crackling log fire
warmed by a frothy hot chocolate
Autumn gets us every time it arrives!

Gifted White Feather
As I ambled through the woods
I suddenly felt you beside me
you entwined your arm in mine
your presence was comforting
as we chatted along the path
rounding the final corner
I felt your arm slip away
it was a surreal experience
being able to feel you there
a loving memory to remember
where you left me on the path
I find a little fluffy white feather
thank you my love, for your gift
I know we`ll will meet again!

I love autumn, all the bright colours on thee trees, squirrels burying their store of nuts. Days get shorter and night are longer, bright colours dawns and sunsets too!
Start of Autumn
September rumblingsautumn`s now on its way
warmth slowly leaving the sun
cold blue skies here to stay
cold blue skies here to stay
shorter day and longer night
colourful dawns and sunset hues
weather`s unpredictable
time to find waterproof shoes
bright colours on the trees
they`re changing their attire
orange, reds and yellows
summer can now retire
it`s like another world
low lying misty mornings
everything is shrouded
sending winter warnings
crunchiness under foot
and a bite in the air
wrap up now and stay warm
it`s time to take good care
September's a great month
marks a change in the year
for earth start to sleep
as winter will soon be here..

Life can be so frantic, so it feels good to slow down and enjoy the beauty of nature. Seeing all of Mother Nature has to offer us can be so relaxing, meditative, calming, inspiring and helps us to see everything around us in a new way.
Beauty of Nature
Red poppies in summer breeze
bluebells carpeting the ground
yellow and orange autumn leaves
white snow muffling every sound
cool clear lakes surrounded by trees
bright speckled meadows sway in the air
rough rocky mountains reach for the sky
barrow dunes carrying hope on a prayer
through depths of the mighty oceans
dark, unexplored, far from our reaches
crashing around rugged coastlands
or touching long sandy beaches
so much awesome beauty of nature
sharing great diversity to all
our wondrous planet is so unique
from the mighty to the minuscule

Ode to a Washing Line
To see white billowing sails
flashing across the garden skies
full flight in the steady winds
lows followed by mighty highs
colours bright in the morning sun
all tethered along the line
heavy with a clean crisp smell
now parading and looking fine
sometimes blocking out the sun
changing shape in the winds blowing
patterns fall across the ground
creating shadows ever flowing
sounds of cloth cracking in the wind
with the sudden change of direction
such a joy to see the line full
of clean clothes, such perfection.

Silverback
an awesome gorilla in his prime
stands proud for all his troop to see
muscular arms and a powerful roar
that`s heard throughout the forest
wearing his distinctive silver back
no one will argue, he`s in command
protecting his family from all danger
he`s the master of all he surveys

An intelligent and handsome creature
in shaggy orange fur orange fur coat
roaming free through the rainforests
master of everything in his domain
a solitary character, trying to survive
swinging high through the branches
clever mind, able to adapt to his needs
shaping the tools to help find his food
eyes that hold deep pools of emotions
feeling the power of his surroundings
living in harmony with the land
wrapped within his precious world

Gorilla
this magnificent gorilla in his prime
standing proud for all his troop to see
determined to defend, yet very gentle
the master of his whole family
muscular arms and a powerful roar
that can be heard throughout the land
wearing his distinctive silvered back
no one will argue that he`s in command
travelling through the dense forests by day
he leads around their territory he`s known
family nests in the trees are built each night
he`s too heavy, so sleeps on the ground alone
this silverback is a powerful champion
very adaptable and intelligent
always protecting his troop with his life
for this gorilla is simply magnificent

Remembering those lazy August days with my kids!
Summer holidays
Those lazy August days
hiding from the rain
finding different ways
for the kids to entertain
vivid sticky painted hands
newspaper on the floor
for when disaster lands
they`re always wanting more
building things with Lego
creating new landscapes
not forgetting Primo
brightly coloured shapes
then it`s time for tea
after clearing up the mess
laughing, smiling, full of glee
kids are full of happiness

Monkey Puzzle
long arms with prickled skin
pointing in every directions
a single trunk standing tall
magnificent plant held with affection
each leaf, stiff and sharp to touch
helping with this plant`s protection
pale growth spurts with each year
is something I should mention
standing there, rooted to it`s spot
always capturing much attention
don`t get to close, for it`s quite painful
those spikes can hurt on reflection
Monkey Puzzles are so unique
proud to have one for my selection
though they`re not always pleasant
they're definitely in my collection !

I love walking along the beach and seeing what it has deposited along the tide line. The sounds of the water as it ebbs and flows constantly. Breathing, living and liking the fact that it will always be there.
Watching the sea
Watching the sea, ebb and flow
roaring in, flooding out
almost breathing
repeatedly
never stopping, always moving
roaring in, flowing out
wave after wave
constantly
depositing all its gifts
rushing in, receding back
along the shore line
endlessly
watching the ocean murmur
crashing in, rumbling out
forever moving
unceasingly.

Red Fur
A glimpse of red fur in the night
bright flash of eyes can be seen
then a streak of white tipped tail
just shows where it has been
there`s silence in the suburbs
though they scurry all about
scrambling through the rubbish
searching for food with their snout
only seen in dim street lights
as they're scurrying around
their pups following along
glad they`re not chased by hound
able to blend into the night
foxes are resilient
alert in an urban world
these creatures are brilliant!
