My Little Angel

sweet little cherub
it's time to sleep
for darkness is here
and the moon shines bright
so snuggle up close
and shut your eyes
for I`ll protect you
til the sun comes up
so sleep well tonight
my sweet little angel!

The Beach

Golden grains of sands

feels hot under my feet

sticking to my toes

in this summer heat

gentle ebbing waters

flowing to and fro

movement of the tides

change from high to low

tidal pools appearing

exposing life to see

but only for a short time

close by to the quay

sunshine beating down

shadows banished away

creating memories

of a wonderful day.

Fourth of July

The stars and stripes unite our great nation

the constitution that gives us our rights

fourth of July is a day for the people

so let`s celebrate deep into the night

the feel of freedom as the sky lights up

bright flares flashing through the blackness

great whooshes and bangs all around

then we are plunged back into deep darkness

beer flowing and steak and salad for all

music blaring out of speakers nearby

while we stand watching the fireworks over head

feel so glad we were able to come by

there in the background is the roaring fire

the gorgeous smell of meat cooking away

people`s laughter and chatter can be heard

as we celebrate this Independence Day

Happy Independence Day to all my friends and their families in the states!

Virtual Conversation...

Hearing only one side of the chat
as you sit hunched up on your chair
fingers flicking on your handset
with your eyes glued to the screen
a crash, a flash then a yell
as the enemy shoots you down
shoot them, shoot them !!.
you shout down the mic
as your team mate helps you
a muffled sound is heard through your headset
wow, it`s like another language !
while you fight your battle
with explosions illuminating the screen
there`s excitement in your voice
as your team is winning
going in for the final kill !!
you scream out your victory
then sit back in your chair
with a smug smile on your face
now leaning forward again
to start your next battle
while chatting to your mates
in this one sided conversation !

Sat here working on my laptop while my son is playing on his xbox. I find it funny listening to this one sided conversation as he battles with his mates to win the game. The screen shows explosions and gun fire and he chats on. It`s wonderful to watch.

Death of an Angel

Dark winter bleakness

bitter cold through her bones

she lies there half dead

full of sorrow as she moans

her blood seeping slowly

all life draining away

no one to hear her cries

on that cold fateful day

death swept over this place

and took all that was good

leaving her heart frozen

in that foreboding wood

this broken winged angel

all her powers now gone

she`s left there to wither

just like a broken swan

I had this picture in my mind, a dying woman, with broken wings

draped over her body on a cold bleak night in the woods.

This is the result. Hope you like it.

That Heavenly Moment.....

rich aromas of chocolate

with soft creamy froth

steamy hot and smooth

heaven in a mug

relaxing all my senses

soothing away the day

crisp crunch of biscuit

bitter against this sweetness

that angelic moment

I'm in heavenly bliss!

Steve

I cant believe that I was lucky

to have a husband just like you

walk hand in hand along our road

to love and laugh our whole life through

with all of life`s little hardships

your great support has made me strong

and to see the world through your eyes

together we have journeyed long

knowing that you were made for me

I couldn't love you any more
but sadly now you're with the angels

you`ll always be the man I adore

so on this day I celebrate

the anniversary of that day

you may not stand beside me now

I`ll always love you in every way
