Day 5  NaPoWriMo Challenge
Close your eyes and listen to the world around you. Take in all the sounds, scents and the feel of the air around you.

A still moment

Waking up in the morning
cat paw tapping on my face
feeling the sunlight on my skin
not ready to join the human race

the distant sound of steady snoring
and the breeze stirs the branches
strong call of a frothy coffee
staying here, I`ll take my chances

snug and warm under the blanket
listening to the chirping birds
a still moment before the storm
let me paint pictures with heart felt words

Yarn, Hook and Patience

with hook in hand and yarn steady
each loop helps the pattern grow
beautiful colours coming together
the squares increase with each new row

though daily life is stressful, there`s
time to reflect on this creation
peace and quiet all around me
crocheting is a wondrous sensation

gentle hues of cream, purple and beige
creating such a distinctive design
soft to the touch this blanket forms
for a precious child, a gift so divine

Day 3 of my poetry challenge for this month.
I was at a conference today and our journey along the motorway was horrid in the heavy rain!

Motorway

cold, grey and murky start
definitely "cats and dogs" weather
low dark foreboding clouds
watch over our drive together

t
orrents of rain hits the windshield
visibility almost down to zero
with wipers working at maximum
there`s no time to act like a hero!

dodging the spray and puddles
slower speeds on the motorway
we need to arrive in one piece
and enjoy our conference day

Havoc on the Streets The streets full of evil
dipped darkness around
fisting for a fight
no-ones safe in this district
they look for white bitches
as they're easier to fuck
no-one argues
no-one speaks
they take what they please
there`s a new order in town!

fire in their bellies
a gun in their pockets
if someone crosses their path
bullet to the head will silence them
left in the gutter, their grave
no-one disses the family
step out of line
then, God help them
they rule by sheer fear
don`t get in their way

the papers, police or other gangs
can't touch these monsters
shops and businessmen are not safe
when they roll onto their part of town
extortion and protection payments
not to mention racketeering
they always get
what they want
they fear nothing at all
this new breed of evil!!

greediness is fed
by the power of the gun
alcohol in their guts
fires up their courage
invincibility, order of the Day
they're on the rampage
people to deal with
scores to settle
as they sweep across the city
leaving havoc in their wake!

those who live by the gun
will die by it too
it's the rules of the underworld remember you can`t get away! (c) Lissie Bull 2018 image found on pinterest

Lovers Candles

In the centre of this wooden floor
two tall white candles can be found
standing in their shallow saucers
silently waiting, not making a sound

t
hese candles belonged to some lovers
who have been sadly separated
for what should have been happy times
were now mournful scenes that are hated

w
ith these candles lit, small flames seen
in this bare room, that shone bright
when suddenly the lovers were split
these special candles lost their light.

t
he room had been filled with loud shouts
and a struggle that didn`t succeed
then silence fell upon this bare place
after such a sad and awful deed

e
xtinguishing those lonely candles
was astonishing to watch the smoke
forming the two lovers faces kissing
a lasting image on this floor of oak

I was inspired by a photo of two smoking candles
Within the smoke of each candle two faces were seen kissing.

Day 2 of my NaPoWriMo challenge
This is my cat Bubbles snoozing contently in her bed

Furry friend

My sweet furry friend
so contently sleeping
curled up in a little ball
what secrets are you keeping?

your sleepy curled smile
leads up to tight closed eyes
set against your tiger stripes
instantly awake at any surprise

dream on my fury friend
follow all that your desire
wrapped snugly in your tail
what more could you require

sleep on my fury friend
as you smile so sweetly
with you whiskers twitching
curled up in your bed so neatly!

Day 1 of the NaPoWriMo challenge
Write a poem each day through April.

Today`s poem is inspired by all the beautiful tulips I received for mothering Sunday <3

Sweet Scent

Sweet scent of spring tulips
nature`s sensual flowers
filling my homestead with joy
come bright sunshine or showers

vibrant reds and purples
theses hues of happiness
bringing light into each room
and chases away all bitterness
