   Christmas Eve

                                                                  

    On Christmas Eve, 

   the reindeer fly

    pulling Santa 

    across the sky

    sprinkled star dust

      to guide the sleigh

     and help them all 

    along their way

shining

so brightly 

on top our tree

with festive season

decorating our home

loving gifts ready to open

colourfully gathered together

already to give on Christmas Day

Little Rocket

It`s that time of year again, when fireworks are ignited and the sky is full of bright flashes of light. Great bangs and whizzing flares along with laughter can be heard.

Little Rocket                   

Snug in a box

stored under the stairs

waiting for the moment

I can join all the flares

when the day arrives

we`re brought into the light

to be opened and checked

all ready for the night

the bonfire is burning

such a crackling sound

the sparklers are lit

as people gather around

now that the box is open

feel a little unsteady

for we`re set up in place

as the show is now ready

lots of bangs and colours

as the sky is lit up so bright

one by one we are send up

fireworks on Bonfire night.

Remembering each life

Engraved on our hearts

Destined for glory

Poppy fields all ablaze

Our Soldiers fought for freedom

Peace was won so valiantly

Proud of each and every one

Year on year, we remember them.

Kitchen Closed

 

Kitchen is closed today

don't want to cook no more

going to have some fun

not do another chore!

outside in the sunshine

with many things to see

I'm going to explore

for I want to be free

maybe I'll go flying

or travel to the west

see what's under water

don't want to sit and rest!

I'm sure you'll understand

me needing time away

tomorrow I'll be back

kitchen is closed today!!

the whispers from your heart

for they will set you free

telling your soul softly

not to be afraid to walk your path....

open your eyes and see the light

that shines brightly from your inner self,

Visible breathe in darkened dawn

Early evenings snug by the fireside

Mittens, scarves, coats and hats

Bitter cold starts and frosty nights

Explosive fireworks around a bonfire

Radiating the joys of autumn!
