Tree Highways
Paddington Station of the tree world
with branches to all destinations
spreading wide across the woodland
fillings our minds with aspirations
from strong, thick and sturdy branches
to small sidings at the end of the line
they are highways to see new places
that can be explored in the sunshine

I wrote this poem, many years ago, while sat in the lobby of The Gilmore in Memphis.
A friend had talked about rainbows and that it would be a great subject to write a poem on.. it was so cool and peaceful sat there and I enjoyed the chance to write.
Rainbows
Kaleidoscope of many colours
stretching right across the sky
forever painted in our minds
here one moment, then vanished.....why?
red and orange start the pattern
so rich and strong for all to see
wonderful yellow follows next
echoing the sun so perfectly
green and blue, the colours of the earth
orbiting the bright hues of the sun
reminding me of the river of life
showing us that rainbows are fun
indigo and violet follow next
colours of peace and relaxation
complete this wonderful view
filling our hearts with elation
all seven colours hung on display
such a beautiful painting to see
vibrant colours of the rainbow
arched across the sky for you and me.

Medium of Nature
There are many different shades of green
signaling that summer in on her way
bumble bees buzzing among the flowers
sunshine warming up this month of May
wild fowl swimming across the wide lake
looks serene above, paddling like mad below
coots, geese, swans and ducks a plenty
each one putting on an amazing show
excited children enjoying the play area
climbing, sliding, swinging up high happily
spotting the wildlife, feeding the pigeons
sunshine bringing out the whole family

Feathered Samurai
This stunning kestrel watches all
missing nothing with his keen sight
chest puffed out with sheer pride
a coiled spring, all ready for flight
such an awesome bird to behold
he has the strength to over power
then bring down his enemy
this magnificent warrior
dressed so smartly in rustic red
head cap and wings a deep slate blue
dark beady eyes and sharp hooked beak
brings fear to all who come into view
with long sharp menacing talons
as his most striking feature
he`s mastered all that he surveys
this powerful cunning creature
tt`s a wonderful privilege
to watch him glide high in the sky
and to hear his call on the wind
as he dives down on his prey with flair
fly free with the wind dear kestrel
soar high above the countryside
smartly dressed in your fine colours
knowing your there, fills us with pride!

Pets are amazing creatures and always there when we are low, unwell or just need some love. My two cats Bubbles and Squeak just knew when to appear and cheer me up. I wrote this poem a couple of years ago and though is would be good to share again as today they would of been 19 years old this year. They were very much love and sadly missed 💔
Healing Cats
It always amazes me,
how cats just know our moods
come and show us love
whenever we need it most
sad news or illness
they are always nearby
warming up our laps,
nuzzling us and purring
when we really need it most
they have this sixth sense
that homes in on our needs
and there like a shot
healing us with all their love
cats are amazing animals
they are there when it really counts
I adore my cats.....

Dappled sunlight flickers through the branches
specks of dust and leaves floating in the breeze
a blanket of silence fills the forest air
broken only, as a startled deer flees.
the forest floor is carpeted in blue
as I slowly walk along the wooded way
birds and animals active all around me
never seen, but watching me as they play.
a set of wings fly silently passed me
as with elegance, the creature glides on
only the movement of air is left behind
before you know it, the spectacle is gone.
the sudden crack of a twig beneath my foot
sounds so loud amongst the woodland scene
it echoes around the many ancient trees
silence wrapping it up in forest green.
