Today is World Cancer Day.
There are so many people who have been affected or know someone who has been affected by cancer. It's such an awful thing, my heart goes out to everyone of you

I am and I will

I am a survivor

moving forward now

a positive person

I know I`ll make it somehow

I will begin to smile

and hold my head high

supported by love

from my angel in the sky

I am a loving wife

who lost her soulmate

but this isn`t the end

there`s no time to wait

I will steer my family

yet hold on to memories

we are all survivors

telling our own stories

Day 1

February is National Haiku Writing Month

Each day we're given a prompt and let loose to write from the heart.

Today's prompt is  "Hand"

I have been going through old photos again and came across some weeding photos of my parents, and I was struck by their love for each other and the hardship couples went through in those days. The simply things meant so much to them.

This poem comes from these thoughts.

My Sweetheart

Two strong arms to hold me tight
two loving eyes bright with light
one beating heart that pounds for me
one big soul to set me free
two sturdy legs that can support
two happy feet for my transport
one pair of hands to grasp me so
one clear mind where love can grow
two lips that kiss one another
two sweethearts that love each other
one couple for all to see
one love joined in harmony

Urban Sunset

City sky line ablaze with colour

illuminating the dying day

bright oranges and yellow

as the sun moves on it`s way

Helping Paws

What ever is over there behind the wall

want to know who`s making that sound

lend us a paw and let`s see what`s there

give us a lift, hope it`s not the dog pound!

there they were, one holding up the other

the strain was there for all to see

claws dug in the wood with all their might

two little kittens exploring happily

Good Night, 

Sweet Dreams 

Silent drifting moon
reflected in the ocean
ebb and flow of waters
creating gentle motion

so sleep on sweetly
under this starry night
gently rocked by the waves
bathed in wondrous mystic light
