Chocolate Trophies

Chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs
filling the store shelves and our heads
brightly coloured and so inviting
these excitingly awesome spreads

there`s different surprises to behold
eyes open wide with a promise of fun
what will be inside these sweet eggs
kids can`t wait for the day to come

and on the morning they rush down stairs
to find their trophies of the day
with cardboard boxes all discarded
it`s chocolate heaven all the way.!

Day 4

prompt

Try writing Triolets.  A triolet is an eight-lined poem.  All lines are in iambic tetramenter  (for a total of 8 syllables per line) and the 1st, 4th and 7th lines are identical, as are the 2nd and 8th lines.  This means that the poem begins and ends with the same couplet.  Beyond this, there is a tight rhyme scheme (helped along by the repetition of lines)  ABaAabAB.

The Forge Hammer

In this old tradition, the forge
hammer on anvil, such heat and sweat
touches everything with passion
in this old tradition. The forge
full of mystery and amazement
not just  name but a business
in this old tradition, The Forge
Hammer, on anvil such heat and sweat!

Day 2

Today`s prompt asks you to begin by picking 5-10 words from a list. next, write out a question for each word chosen.  Write an answer to each question and use those answers to write a poem.

Cowbirds through Fog

lyrical crescendo of musical passion
squeezed feet first through narrow gaps
thick fog can form imaginary shapes in the mind
yes lots of different colours
mystical creatures, half bovine, half eagle
floating up to space free from pollution
with at least twenty four acorns
as gods demand another drink at the bar!

Day 3

Find a shortish poem that you like, and rewrite each line, replacing  many words as you can) with words that mean the opposite.

Happy writing!

She spent a life
building walls
then sat lonely
in her lonely
wondering
why
nothing grew

by Atticus

He gave a day
knocking down roofs
now stood here
out of happiness
disinterested
in consequence
everything decayed

NaPoWriMo  Day 1

Welcome to another month of fun!

Prompt

They say you can`t judge a book by it`s cover, but they never said can`t try to write a poem based on a book cover!  Chose a book cover and write your poem lol

Feet!

planting us firmly on the ground
ten toes, two heels and two souls
steadying us as we walk around
enabling us to follow our goals

tiptoeing quietly up the stairs
or stamping over noisy gravel
maybe playing touch under chairs
helping to power enable us to travel

feet are amazing, tender but strong
whether wrapped in boots or just bare
we take them for granted all day long
all I can say is, I`m glad they`re there!

World Autism Awareness Day

Thought I would share my experience of autism through two of my children.

Autism.

Autism is not something to be feared
it`s a state of mind that has no limits
persons parked diagonally in their parking space
they see the world in a wonderful way
that we can never truly understand
they're very loving and full of grace.

Unique people with so much to give
that society rejects through misconceptions
it takes a little sense to find some common ground
the simple side of life, we can all learn from
they`re individuals that are fun to be with
intelligent, inquisitive, they always astound.

Trusting and sometimes easily led
body language is hard for them to follow
they just want to be like all the rest
life seems to have served them an unfair lot
that we know they don`t deserve to have
yet as a friend,  they are truly blessed.

Inspirational in every way
their love for life should motivate us
and we must strive to work well together
don`t ever let this harsh world put them down
problems can be resolved through talking
humanity must accept one another.

Spontaneous, loving, fun to be with
they don`t hold grudges or hate anyone
accepting them with joy,  as they're so bright
eye contact appears to be hard for them
but they seem to get around that with our help
we are all special in our own right.

Misunderstood, they battle on in life
it`s not hard to be polite and caring
they have a right to a decent existence
treat them with the respect they deserve
they are not monsters to be afraid of
go say "Hello",  don`t keep your distance !

Pulsating Beat

there`s anticipation in the air
drums, mic, guitars and bass
all that`s wanted is the band
come on! let crank up the pace

then as the lights start to flash
to the shouts from the crowd
thumping beat of the music
feeling the pulse good and loud

for as they strut their stuff
racing all about the stage
while hyping up the audience
with their energetic rage

screaming out the lyrics
head banging to the beat
for the band`s in their zone
playing in this pulsating heat
