Fire of the Forge
winter is nearly here
breathe seen in the air
shivers felt deeply
stand by the forge, if you dare!
watch the flames flicker
feel the warmth heat your core
red hot charcoal sizzling
don`t want to be cold any more!
bright colours of the flames
set against metal so dark
power sweat and creativity
come by the forge, and make your mark!

Dear Mother
This message is sent from my heart
for that's where I hold your memory
missing all the things we did together
with so much love and energy
my prayer is sent on an angel's feather
drifting up to heaven above
wrap your loving wings around me
for I'm missing a mother's love.
my soul is missing a mother`s presence
her wisdom in troubled times and sorrow
yet all her lessons are there to help me cope
until once more we meet again tomorrow!

I Survived …...
I am a daughter, sister, wife and mother
not a servant, skivvy or a punch bag
for I have emotions, feelings and a heart
I`m a human being and not here to brag
for we came together through our passion
wanting to build a better life as a team
but sadly this haven didn`t last long
as behind closed doors I was left to scream
then I learnt to wear my makeup thicker
to hide the bruises that were rained down on me
outside the house, I held my head up high
I was the matriarch of my family
whatever was done to me...I would survive
finding the help needed I would have my day
I would come through all this hell in the end
just had to find the courage to walk away
domestic violence is found behind closed doors
I`m so glad I managed to work out just how
to start to rebuild my life once again
I am at peace with my family now
sadly domestic violence is still here
but with help and support, we can open the door!
I am glad I managed to work out just how
to start to rebuild my life and smile more

Starry Night
Tucked up under a blanket of blue sky
under the lights of a thousand stars
each soul may sleep soundly tonight
dreaming of a paradise that`s ours
twinkling stars lighting up the sky
reassuring us of a peaceful night
quietening the heart and soul
waking refreshed in the morning light

Nursery Rhyme Land
There`s a hole in my bucket
I knew it wasn't there before
On my way with Jack up the hill
To fetch some water, t`was our chore!
Miss Muffet was going to join us
But she was scared off by the spider
Will miss eating her curds and whey...
She`s gone to the pub for cider
So we met up with the three pigs
As the wolf had destroyed their homes
Walked to market for a new bucket
Then had tea with our friends the Gnomes
Humpty Dumpty was feeling ill
He had fallen into a swoon
So we sent Puss In Boots to see
And he gave him a dish and spoon
Goldilocks was feeling lonely
The bears were away in Hong Kong
So later that night we all met up
And had a great big sing a long!
I got a tune stuck in my head, then this poem followed lol!

I was reading some Nursery Rhymes to a friend`s daughter and she loved Little Miss Riding Hood. She asked me to write a version for her. This is the result and I`m pleased to say little Katie loved it !
Little Miss Red...!
got up out of bed
to go and visit her gran
picked up her coat
and a five pound note
runs out of her caravan
through the dark wood
dressed in her red hood
her basket on her arm
feels someone is there
sees a fox, what a scare !
but she`d never come to harm
for in her pocket
found next to her Locket
she carries a small pistol
if he comes too near
he can join big brown bear
sweeping the streets of Bristol !
so off she skips
a smile on her lips
can`t wait to see her Grandmother
she`ll have such fun
playing out in the sun
best place to be through the summer !
