Letting go....
there comes a time in our lives
when we realise we have to move on
we`re not needed like we were before
it`s not cool for a mum to be fun!
everyone goes through this stage
as our children begin to fly the nest
we have to learn to let them go
it is good for all, and we can then rest
however, its still one of the hardest things
that we will ever have to go through
for we've given them the best start
now it`s our time for peace, it`s true!
so hold your head up high and smile
be proud of all that we've obtained
we can finally kick back and relax
knowing they`re loved and fully trained!!

In a secluded part of the wood
through a shaft of bright light
sat on her toadstool, a sweet fairy
full of sparkle, a wondrous sight
with delicate paper thin wings
illuminated by the sun
a mischievous glint in her eye
contemplating so much fun
for this little woodland fairy
sprinkles fairy dust all around
brightening up every dark corner
leaving sweet footprints on the ground.

Liquid State!
With the stage coming alive
as the venue begins to roar
feeding this electric atmosphere
now the volume starts to soar
feel the beat hit your chest
through an explosion of light
vocals, drums, guitar and bass
creating a memorable night!
penetrating lyrics heard
vibrating through the floor
above strings of sheer passion
jubilant followers want more
headbanging, arms swaying
everybody`s rocking their feet
Liquid State, you`re amazing
performing to their heavy beat
headbanging, arms swaying
everybody`s rocking their feet
Liquid State, you`re amazing
performing to their heavy beat

Defender Cat
Intruder alert
there`s something not right
for sat in the midst
a very strange sight
an orb full of liquid
reflection so visible
this alien world
innocent or terrible
our warrior stand
so proud and so tall
already to pounce
and defend us all
what lies within
this watery sphere
will our protector
strike without fear
stood on his hind legs
paws stretched out to splat
should he now attack
this defender cat!

Daffodils and Tulips
Daffodils and tulips
standing proud on my table
bright yellows and purples
flowering tall and stable
sun catching on the petals
almost transparent in the light
sweet scent filling the room
Oh, such an awesome sight
each morning these flowers
greet me with a loving smile
fills my day with such joy
making everything worthwhile
Spring flowers in my room
so everything is glorious.
bringing the outdoors in here
fill my heart with happiness
My favourite season is spring, where everything is waking up
happiness is found in the soul.

Bereavement
We will all go through a bereavement at some point in our lives and this will effect us in many different ways. Some of us will cope better than others, it`s all down to our character.
As it was a bereavement that started off my writing journey, I know how much poetry can help in these times of deep emotion. The loss of a loved one or best friend can really knock us over. Major events around the world or wars or even the loss of our job can effect us too. It`s how we cope with this, that will help us to rebuild ourselves and move on.
We are like pressure cookers, building up steam, if the pressure is not released... there`s an explosion. Emotion is the same for us at these sad times. We also need to release some pressure. Writing down how we feel as a wonderful way to let off some of the pressure.
It doesn`t have to rhyme, or make sense to others, whats important is, that it help you, the writer. You could paint a picture of a special memory, in words that help you to remember. This helps you to keep them close to you in your heart.
You could write about how the loss has really effected you, your feelings, sadness and how you felt about them and maybe how you see the world without them or what they did for you.
Over time your words will find a pattern, a rhythm that`s unique to you. Let it flow freely across the page and you will be amazed at how you feel when writing. The pressure has been released.
Finally one thing to remember, these are your words and your words alone. You can keep them as private as you want. You do not have to share them at all. I did, as I wanted to give something back for all the help I received after losing my husband and soulmate Steve.
Give writing a go....
Lissie
Father
To my dearest Father
who`s loving and caring
guiding me through life
with gentle persuasion
yet a firm determination
always full of support
kindness and wisdom
on this, your special day
be filled with love and joy
creating wonderful memories
to hold onto in your heart
Happy Father`s Day!

Floating Moon
seen from across the waters
reflected upon its surface
this bright celestial orb
floating onward with purpose
dark mottled markings seen
through the silhouetted branches
stars shimmering in the night sky
all bidding for their chances
onward through the night it flows
lighting up its pathway
mirrored from above and below
travelling on until break of day

White Orb
white orb seen in the blue sky
floating high in bright sun light
shrouded in a haze of mystery
will the sphere stay for the night?
each crater detailed clearly
amongst dark shadows visible
such a world apart from ours
it`s power`s so incredible
reflective light caught by the sun
on blue skies this moon reclines
silently seen in the day time
but majestic by night it shines
