It`s that time of year again

the excitement is growing

everyone has their secrets

there`s no sign of it slowing

Shopping bags and packages

sticky tape, and wrapping paper...

cards written and presents done

all this fun is such a caper

Decorations all in place

just love the atmosphere

raise you glass everyone

for Christmas time is here!

Experiencing bereavement changes us, how we cope with that change forges our future, while we hold onto our memories of the past 💖

I met a lovely lady recently who sadly lost an important person in her life. She found she couldn't cope or see a happy future for herself.
I talked about my experience and how I coped and explained that there was a future for her after bereavement.
We chatted about memories, her hopes and wishes and slowly she started to smile again.

We spoke about expressing emotions and I introduced poetry writing to her. Over time she found, like myself, that writing a poem was a healing therapy.

It is wonderful to see people come back to life, have goals, a future and beable to cherish her memories.

Never be afraid to remember those special memories of happy times, they will always be with us and our loved ones stay in our hearts.  

Maybe writing down your feelings in the form of a poem could help you release some of your pressure, sadness and even loss. It does have to rhyme and you don't have to share it either.

If you are or have been through a bereavement, my heart goes out to you.

Talking, writing, painting, music are all good therapies, why not give them ago.

May your memories stay safely in your hear and your smile shines bright and  take care of yourself.

Our Earth

When I think of life, I look to the sky

endlessly changng as it goes by

a bright moon by night

the heart being the sun shining so bright

illuminating smile beaming with light

the life flow of the earth

rising ebb of the oceans, it`s cape

flowing movements ever changing in shape

fed by nature abound

trees and greenery, Mother Earth`s skin

showing her healthy state from within

sharing all her bounty

this, our earth is a vibrant life sphere

keep her healthy, lest she disappear

our Mother Earth, our life!

Hidden Secret

There`s this magical place I love to go
steps of stone spiraling down below
mystical arches to walk on through
my secret place is hidden from view
strolling through its open hallowed halls
with green moss slowly covering the walls
a cool atmosphere to calm the soul
as I relax here, yet stay in control
walking through tunnels, I love the sound
round and round as I descend to the ground
walls decorated with arches and niches
hinting a history of wondrous riches
but deep in this place there`s nothing to fear
of bygone times to be found down here

enjoying the peace of this special space

 Power of Nature!

By the shores of Lake Ontario

in the depth of a severely cold winter

frozen winds redecorate the houses

forming ice sculptures that glitter

as the fierce winds whip up the waves

covering this world in a layer of icing

encasing the surrounding buildings

like plaster, nature is sculpturing 

trees that take on an eerie existence

branches shrouded in dirty veils

distorted shapes through the storm

thrown around in these strong gales

when everything ceases, there`s silence

and stillness engulfs the whole area

nature`s destruction has stopped 

further wintry storms would be scarier

Pink Ballerina

flight of the pink ballerina

caught in the moment of time

pirouetting through the air

certainly, no pantomime 

this graceful Roseate Spoonbill

circling it`s lovely bright wings

performing in the sky arena

sun capturing its colourings

watching this talented dancer

this sky stage is where it's found

showing off beautiful colours

oblivious of all thats around

Night Storm

Flash of light across the dark sky

illuminating garden in a widespread

zig zagging after a clap of thunder

as the storm passed overhead

symphony of sound is heard

electric pulses through the night

feeling the force within the soul

natures fireworks, what a sight!

each strike of lightning is unique 

creating bright patterns to follow

rumblings heard in the distance

as the storm continues to grow

natures battle through the night sky

large droplets of rain hit the ground

an atmosphere that blasts the senses

there`s nothing like it to be found

This state of liquidity

flowing through the music

pulsating the depths

of our very souls

hitting the beat

that unites the heart

to the lyrics of each song

send us to a new level!

transporting us away

words telling a story

leaving us wanting more!

Spiraled Leader

with his long, strong curled horns

handsome, robust and very athletic

for living in such a harsh terrain

these Ibex are certainly very epic

textured with many growth-lines 

showing his stamina and age 

for he has fought lots of battles

fending off rivals with great rage

so confident and sure footed 

climbing all over the rocky terrain

nothing ever fazes this character

ascending again, and again!

Mum`s Taxi is a great occupation and I love it! 

Mum`s Taxi

It`s really quite amazing

how my life can twist and turn

one moment I`m sat at home

then I`m off to drive and learn

collecting friends from the station

drive to Lacock in the sun

or a shopping trip with my friends

nor forgetting the school run

so, remember what the sign says

the one in my car window

"Mum`s Taxi", so I`m the best

I`m here through rain, sun or snow!

Depression

such a feeling of total failure

where every mole hill`s a mountain

with loose rocks ready to hurt!

invisible, alone

trapped in cold darkness

fearful of life

with doors locked

all hope

gone!

This cheeky little chappy

sitting quietly in the corner

away from all the visitors

for here he found it warmer

bright eyes and full of sparkle

and his head held high with pride

he`s just started his journey

with his mother close by his side

long wabbly legs curled under

to be got used to for sure 

his world is a huge mystery

that he will soon explore

this cheeky lovable character

has a lot of growing to do

when you come and visit him

don`t forget to smile and say Hello!

After Depression

I have been told

I suffer from depression

mental health

they say

emotional

unstable

well....

that`s not me I`m sure

just being a mother

can get you down

mental stress

more like it

exhaustion

memory loss

need....

a little attention

when times are hard

a helping hand counts

mental friction

loss of confidence

need a new start

love and hugs

see....

I've now got it sussed

a little help

goes such a long way

mental care

a kind gesture

relaxation

chilling time

so...

Colours of Autumn

Different colours of autumn

signals the changing of seasons

summer is a distant memory

while winter has its own reasons

kids race through leaf festooned paths

as trees slowly lose their colourful coats

many oranges, yellows and scarlet reds

a vision that sadly never lasts

mother nature`s palette of paints

is changing throughout the year

each season`s theme is very different

next year what will you garden wear?

Bold Squirrel 

Flashing his large fluffy tail

while scurrying across the grass

darting in different directions

he`s confident and bold as brass

 parks most quirky character 

creature of distinction, in control

dashing towards the tree line

where he`ll locate his bolt hole

running quickly up a tree bark

with strong needle-like nails

allows him to run in all directions

his agility never fails

cheeky squirrel in his element

showing off to everyone

fast, efficient and intelligent

yet he thrives on having fun!

Stones of Remembrance

Large smooth rounded stones 

a foundation to build a life

each stone balanced by faith

as memories are held together

bright sunrays, light up each stone

capturing precious moments

safely stored forever more 

by adding new stones to the stack

defying gravity as the stack grows

holding magical times at heart

continuing to add new thoughts

a lifetime of love kept together.
