silent orb, half hidden in the night sky
shimmering through a halo of blue hues
arcing across it`s heavenly journey
seen from earth, creating amazing views

slowly continuing along it`s course
tiny tantalising glimpses in the night
cradled amongst a shroud of clouds
seen from below, it`s a majestic sight

(C) Lissie`s Poems 2023

Poetry is a wonderful way to share how you feel, to cheer someone up,. say thank you or even I love you.

I love painting pictures with words from the heart.

This is a commission to cheer up a friend.

Emily

I feel such a lucky person
to have you as my special friend
always there when I felt down
making things better to the end

your friendship is a special gift
that I treasure every day
and I hope you know I value it more than words can ever say

now it`s you that needs support
for this moment, you`re in pain
with all you`ve been through
let me be there and take the strain

l
et us put on a cheerful smile
until you`re on the mend
for helping you is a pleasure
so glad I can call you my friend (C) Lissie Bull 2023

Hopes  and Dreams

My hopes for you
are that you discover
the love of a special partner
joys of true friendship
courage and strength in life
that enable your dreams to come true

Loneliness in the Dark

Dark times create dark poems,  thats why I haven`t been able to share any new poetry for a few days.  It`s something that`s affecting millions of people across the country.  Worries, emotions, stress, sorrow and even bereavement are ever present all around us these days.

I haven`t given up writing, oh no!  Poetry is a huge part of my life and helps me emotionally.  This is a time to not give up, but keep on walking along life road, our journey maybe rough but it will become easy, it we just keep gong.

My family, my little cat and Mother nature help me to keep traveling along my journey, I hope there are people and things that help you along your journey too.

Stay positive, help others and we will succeed.

Lissie x

Loneliness wraps me in her silence
from the darkness she touches me
her coldness chills me to the bone
and sadness fills my heart completely

Red Fur

A glimpse of red fur in the night
bright flash of eyes can be seen
then a streak of white tipped tail
just shows where it has been

there`s silence in the suburbs
though they scurry all about
scrambling through the rubbish
searching for food with their snout

only seen in dim street lights
as they're scurrying around
their pups following along
glad they`re not chased by hound

able to blend into the night
foxes are resilient
alert in an urban world
these creatures are brilliant!

 Spring Beauty in a Vase

Daffodils and tulips
standing proud on my table
bright yellows and purples
flowering tall and stable

sun touching velvet petals
catching their texture in the light
sweet aromas filling my kitchen
oh, such an uplifting sight

each morning flowers greet me
as I make my morning coffee
spreading much love and joy
a little present just for me

spring flowers in my kitchen
filling me with happiness
bringing my garden inside
overflowing with cheerfulness

Bluebells

Pretty bells waving little blue bonnets
carpeting the woodland floor
frills of bright green bordering
filling our hearts with joys of spring

dappled sunlight lifts the spirit
filtering through the trees
spotlighting the mystery of spring
bringing nature alive !

Pools of light

Pools of Light

through the evening shadows
as the sun slowly slips away
street lights start to brighten
at the end of the working day

pools of light, like stepping stones
brighten the city`s walkways
as nightfall slowly covers the town
they set all the streets ablaze

within each circle of lamp light
you`ll find a little world exists
insects, moths and small particles
where many are unable to resist

so in the darkness of the night
many creatures will pass on by
through these little habitats of life
til the down, when we say goodbye

Pussy Cat visits the Zoo

Pussy cat pussy cat
          what did you do
I got on the bus
          to visit the zoo

Pussy cat pussy cat
          what did you there
looked at the animals
           smiled at a bear

Pussy cat pussy cat
            who did you see
long necked giraffes
             and a chimpanzee

Pussy cat pussy cat
             time to go home
made lots of memories
            you`re never alone

Sweet Angel Mum

Just to say `I love you mum`
would mean the world to me
but since the angels gave you wings
I`ll share my love through poetry

miss popping round to say `hi`
and share a coffee and chitchat
we`d sort out the world`s troubles
while on my lap, a snoozing cat

I miss your love and wisdom
your kindness and caring manner
now your free from earthy stress
bet you're full of heavenly glamour

so today I think of our friendship
and all the love you send me way
thank you for all you did for me
Mum, Happy Mothering Sunday

Nap time

A bundle of purring fur
sleeping cosy by my lap
hiding her face from light
as she continues her nap

Soundwaves of the Loch

a wintry sight from across the waters
with snowy mountains standing proud
reflecting colours of blue and white
under a bright clear sky, not a cloud

like music of the deep coldness
travelling along the loch`s shore
following the beat of Orkney
notes from the island for evermore

visible soundtrack flowing freely
undulating rhythms for the season
vibrating Nordic sounds heard
beauty that you can believe in

Pink Ballerina

flight of the pink ballerina
caught in the moment of time
pirouetting through the air
certainly, no pantomime

this graceful Roseate Spoonbill
circling it`s lovely bright wings
performing in the sky arena
elegantly moving as nature intends

watching this talented dancer
this sky stage is where it's found
showing off beautiful colours
oblivious of all thats around

Mr. Badger

Well hello Mr. Badge
so nice to meet you today
with your stripy colours
it`s time to be on your way

from the warmth of your burrow
to the coolness of the night
now it`s time to go a-hunting
until the dawn brings the light

off you scuttle along the track
sniffing and digging as you go
where will you end up tonight
I`m not sure you really know

as the sun starts its journey
and the world begins its new day
I`ll say goodnight Mr. Badger
let you sleep and be on my way.

Depression!

I have been told
I suffer from depression
mental health
they say
emotional
unstable
well....
that`s not me I`m sure

just being a mother
can get you down
mental stress
more like it
exhaustion
memory loss
need....
a little attention

when times are hard
a helping hand counts
mental friction
loss of confidence
need new start
love and hugs
see....
I've now got it sussed

a little help
goes such a long way
mental care
a kind gesture
relaxation
chilling time
so...
we`re working together

Soulmate Angel

Wish I could hold you, in my arms once more
or to walk hand in hand along the sea shore
though you had strength, you were so gentle
making our time together so very special

your laugh and cheeky grin, stole my heart
you were called away, but we`re never apart
we did many amazing things together
you`re in my heart always and forever

you were a hard worker and very sporty
always the life and soul of the party
we`ll  cheer, raise a glass to celebrate
your birthday darling, my love, my soulmate

Tufted Lynx

Amongst the full canopied forests
hidden from view for their protection
these beautiful big cats live our their lives
away from human intervention

their tracks seen across the snowy range
for cold is no bother to this cat
as their large paws act like snowshoes
it`s so suited to it`s habitat

with long black tufts as tips on it`s ears
helping to enhance their good hearing
along with it`s large bright amber eyes
even with these, they`re disappearing

from short bobbed tail, with it`s black tip
to a handsome flared facial ruff
longer hind legs, making it stoop
their life can really be so tough

such striking animal to be watched
like our domestic cats, they creep
and silently pounce on their prey
followed by the fatal biting sweep

so, as we save this beautiful Lynx
by preserving it`s habitat
we`ll also save ancient forests
a winning situation,  how`s that!!

Anxiety

Anxiety is not an easy diagnosis to live with,  some days I can cope with it but others send me into a panic and all I want to do is hide. I was proscribed anti anxiety tablets, but they didn`t help me.  They made my teeth hurt and confused my mind that it made it very difficult to pick up my pen and let it dance across my notepad.  Once I stopped taking the tablets, my teeth ceased hurting but sadly I still struggled to write again.
After talking to other crafters about anxiety, it was suggested that I tried to  write down my feelings and how my anxiety affects me.  This is exactly how I started writing poetry in the first place, after my husband Steve died from facial cancer nearly 15 years ago.
I had to give this a go!

Anxiety

Did I lock the front door properly?
I turn round and check once again
it`s becoming my daily ritual
feeling my life`s a pantomime!

every part of my day`s effected
with this diagnosis I`ve been given
doing general household chores
feel I`m at sixes and sevens

driving is now sadly a no-no
unless I have a co-pilot with me
I fret about the other drivers
anxiety, sings at me like a symphony!

but saddest of all is my poetry
my pen unable to dance on paper
sometimes I`m scared it`s lost for good
and my poems will turn to vapour

this anxiety, is a waking nightmare
made worse by all that`s going on
Covid measures, missed family
just want this anxiousness gone!

Dearest Mother

you brought me into this world through love
kindness and wisdom, you taught me
down to earth yet full of love
not suffering fools gladly
love giving cuddles
lending a hand
you`re the best
love you
Mum
