Tis the season to be merry

at this festive time of the year

holly, mistletoes and berries 

everyone`s sharing good cheer

wreaths decorating doorways

dressed in reds, greens and whites

encompassing nature from outside

 homes filled with sweet delights

 Santa`s Reindeer

Oh to be a flying reindeer
racing across Christmas skies
by helping dear old Santa Claus
deliver presents before sunrise

eight splendid sturdy beasts
all rigged up to Santa`s sleigh
with magnificent antlers
they are soon upon their way

all booted and suited in bright red
Santa takes the reins and off they fly
soaring high above the snowy land
almost invisible to the eye

visiting each and every home
while households are fast to sleep
leaving gifts for all the children
before little feet start to creep

when all the gifts have been delivered
Santa lets out a great big cheer 
for Christmas can now begin
for Santa and his wonderful reindeer!

At Christmas, I share a poem that I write for my husband Steve. This year will be the 18th since I wrote my first one after he was given hus wings.

Christmas

Tis the Christmas season

when everyone comes together

sharing festive traditions

giving of presents

music, games and fun

recalling many fond memories

to share with the family

for me, there`s a special gift

the one you placed in my heart

your love you gave to me

special memories

four amazing children

you'll always be in my in heart

my soulmate, my love

In this day and age, Christmas seems to be about presents, food, decorations and cards, but that was not how it use to be.  Maybe it`s time to remember the true meaning of Christmas and the birth of baby Jesus.

True Christmas

On Christmas eve it was so cold
like it was all those years before
as a couple tried to find a room
but they're only offered a stable floor

amongst the hay and ox and ass
the saviour of the world was born
laid in a manger warm and safe
watched over by Mary, `til the morn

there were shepherds in the field
all guarding their flock by night
when a heavenly host appeared
telling them of the child, with delight

leaving to visit the baby
travelling to the little stable
bearing gifts for baby Jesus
showing him love, as they were able

Mary takes this all to her heart

God has told her, he was precious

so as we gather altogether

let`s remember that first Christmas

Silence

A silent moment, where time has stopped
life's motion ceased, all is standing still
a ripple fades, inner peace is felts
sound is silenced  stillness of the soul
from sky to ocean the world sleeps
all is hushed now for nothing will stir
no sound, no motion, no breathe is felt
stillness all around, death, a state of mind

Winter`s Moon

Shorter days
means darker nights
winter`s moon 
among the star`s lights

crisp and round
a large beacon
travelling the skies
in this frosty season

wondrous orb
bright winter`s sphere
shine down on earth
until dawn arrives here!

Winter is an amazing season from frosty mornings to cosy evenings by the fire, not forgetting Christmas festivities, that leads us to the end of another year and new beginnings for the next year!

 Sparkling Winter

Winter, shorter days, longer nights

evenings spent by a roaring fire

sparkling lights, crackling logs

so full of intrigue and desire

silent snow flakes on the window

time to reflect and enjoy the sight

winter is a joyous time to share

creating memories to hold on tight

fairy lights and flickering candles

toasty warm feet, frothy hot chocolate

with snoozing pets, its time to relax

Crispy Morning

The cold beauty of nature

see against a bright blue sky

branches bare of their leaves

cotton wool clouds drift by

mirrored reflections on water

bright sunlight wonders adorn 

distant calls heard over the lake

silently seen this wintry morn

Tis the season to be jolly!  The festivities are here, music, lights, craft markets and of course Christmassy hot chocolate with all the trimming.  When there a quiet moment, nothing beats a hot coffee and cookie while curled up under a cosy blanket in front of a roaring log fire. 🎄🔥

   warm invite  

         from the cold

   frozen winter

cold hands           

fire roaring

         curled up snug  

cuddling my cup      

       of hot coffee

all topped with cream

with sprinkles, so tasty 

nibbling  on  chocolate

in the warmth  of a fire

so shut out winter

wrapped up in a 

cosy blanket

with a crumbly cookie is

most welcome!
