Man of Style

Crinkled leathery thick skin

alert eyes that watch awhile

with a long thick white beard

almost hiding his cheeky smile

silver earrings in each ear

sunglasses reflecting light

hat perched at an angle

everything had to be just right

dressed from head to toe in black

white T shirt peeping through

boots you can see your face in

onyx ring on his finger too

with a slight nod of his head

a glint of his golden tooth

so relaxed, yet in control

a man of style, and that`s the truth !!

Poppy Day is not too far away, and I`m helping at a fund raiser later this month. So working on a few new poems.


Poppy Day

I wear a little Poppy
as red as it can be
to show that I remember
those brave soldiers
who gave their lives for me..!

Hand of friendship

It saddens me to know
that we`re at war again
through lack of understanding
mistrust and heart felt pain

words can`t be taken back
once they have been spoken
this never ending circle
had best now be broken

we need to sort this out
let`s stop and think it through
and extend a hand in friendship
it`s the only thing to do

so let`s smile and make up
as we don`t need to fight
put this all behind us now
make this situation right !

Bloody Battle

What battles will be fought
before that mighty wooden gate
how bloody would it be
strongly fraught with hate

for these stone battlements
have seen much bloodshed
many a great soldier has died
at least that`s what has been said

loud curling battle cries heard
along with clashes of sword on sword
as war wages through the mud
conquering all for their Lord  !

Eventide

As I lay my pen down at the end of the day
I know that I have fulfilled my desire to write..
these picture that run deep within my heart
have flowed freely across my notepad !
now it`s time to rest and let new images develope
so that, tomorrow I can start all over again...!

Old Ted..!

I'm an old Teddy
stuffed full with straw
seen a lot through my life
hope to see so much more

living here in this home
propped up on the bed
seeing the world through my window
even down to the shed !

with the door left ajar
I watch all who pass
never to miss anything
yet never to join in, alas !

there's just one point
that I'd like to make
why did you cloth me 
in this dress, for God sake !

Colourful cafe in the heart of Redfield
Uniquely loved by everybody
Peaceful place to chat and relax
Always delicious foods to indulge
Coffee from the depths of Brazil
Aromas to tempt your fancy
Bringing the community together
An atmosphere filled with happiness
Networking, and meeting up with friends
A little bit of Brazil in our midst..!
