Pink Ballerina

flight of the pink ballerina
caught in the moment of time
pirouetting through the air
certainly, no pantomime

this graceful Roseate Spoonbill
circling it`s lovely bright wings
performing in the sky arena
elegantly moving as nature intends

watching this talented dancer
this sky stage is where it's found
showing off beautiful colours
oblivious of all thats around

Mr. Badger

Well hello Mr. Badge
so nice to meet you today
with your stripy colours
it`s time to be on your way

from the warmth of your burrow
to the coolness of the night
now it`s time to go a-hunting
until the dawn brings the light

off you scuttle along the track
sniffing and digging as you go
where will you end up tonight
I`m not sure you really know

as the sun starts its journey
and the world begins its new day
I`ll say goodnight Mr. Badger
let you sleep and be on my way.

Depression!

I have been told
I suffer from depression
mental health
they say
emotional
unstable
well....
that`s not me I`m sure

just being a mother
can get you down
mental stress
more like it
exhaustion
memory loss
need....
a little attention

when times are hard
a helping hand counts
mental friction
loss of confidence
need new start
love and hugs
see....
I've now got it sussed

a little help
goes such a long way
mental care
a kind gesture
relaxation
chilling time
so...
we`re working together

Soulmate Angel

Wish I could hold you, in my arms once more
or to walk hand in hand along the sea shore
though you had strength, you were so gentle
making our time together so very special

your laugh and cheeky grin, stole my heart
you were called away, but we`re never apart
we did many amazing things together
you`re in my heart always and forever

you were a hard worker and very sporty
always the life and soul of the party
we`ll  cheer, raise a glass to celebrate
your birthday darling, my love, my soulmate

Tufted Lynx

Amongst the full canopied forests
hidden from view for their protection
these beautiful big cats live our their lives
away from human intervention

their tracks seen across the snowy range
for cold is no bother to this cat
as their large paws act like snowshoes
it`s so suited to it`s habitat

with long black tufts as tips on it`s ears
helping to enhance their good hearing
along with it`s large bright amber eyes
even with these, they`re disappearing

from short bobbed tail, with it`s black tip
to a handsome flared facial ruff
longer hind legs, making it stoop
their life can really be so tough

such striking animal to be watched
like our domestic cats, they creep
and silently pounce on their prey
followed by the fatal biting sweep

so, as we save this beautiful Lynx
by preserving it`s habitat
we`ll also save ancient forests
a winning situation,  how`s that!!

Anxiety

Anxiety is not an easy diagnosis to live with,  some days I can cope with it but others send me into a panic and all I want to do is hide. I was proscribed anti anxiety tablets, but they didn`t help me.  They made my teeth hurt and confused my mind that it made it very difficult to pick up my pen and let it dance across my notepad.  Once I stopped taking the tablets, my teeth ceased hurting but sadly I still struggled to write again.
After talking to other crafters about anxiety, it was suggested that I tried to  write down my feelings and how my anxiety affects me.  This is exactly how I started writing poetry in the first place, after my husband Steve died from facial cancer nearly 15 years ago.
I had to give this a go!

Anxiety

Did I lock the front door properly?
I turn round and check once again
it`s becoming my daily ritual
feeling my life`s a pantomime!

every part of my day`s effected
with this diagnosis I`ve been given
doing general household chores
feel I`m at sixes and sevens

driving is now sadly a no-no
unless I have a co-pilot with me
I fret about the other drivers
anxiety, sings at me like a symphony!

but saddest of all is my poetry
my pen unable to dance on paper
sometimes I`m scared it`s lost for good
and my poems will turn to vapour

this anxiety, is a waking nightmare
made worse by all that`s going on
Covid measures, missed family
just want this anxiousness gone!

Dearest Mother

you brought me into this world through love
kindness and wisdom, you taught me
down to earth yet full of love
not suffering fools gladly
love giving cuddles
lending a hand
you`re the best
love you
Mum
