Box of Memories

My little box of memories

contains a life time of thoughts

mostly there are good ones

but some tied me up in knots.....

these mementos are personal

for they mean so much to me

photos, tickets and clippings

all locked up with a little key

birthday greetings from my parents

and my first valentine`s card

to pictures painted by my kids

parting with them would be too hard

all these memories, I want to keep

protecting them now, that`s my aim

so I will lock them safely away

for losing them would be such a shame !

Memories are very important, don`t ever want to lose them....

Summer Solstice 

gathered around a burning fire
chilling in the afternoon sun
sat on a makeshift seat or bench
watching the children having fun

sharing our fresh prepared food
and a few beers or lemon tea
while reminiscing past memories
in surroundings full of tranquility

celebrating summer solstice
peace and harmony all around
friends and family have gathered
thankful that here, happiness is found

Purple sea
release to me
all that`s held within
ebb and flow
from down below
that tickles my skin
moves so much
cold to touch
hidden chagrin
treasure here
by the weir
where the waters spin
great surprise
matching skies
purple sea held within

Letting Go.......!

I'm sorry if I hurt you
held onto you too tight
it's only that I love you
but all we do is fight

you have places to go to
and people you hold so dear
yet I find it so hard to let you go
it's something that I really fear

you're all grown up now
and need to fledge this home
then your siblings will follow
I'll be left here all alone.

I know I have to be brave
and let you leave this place
it's all part of growing up
and finding your own space !

so with a smile and a wave
I'll let you go on your way
grateful to have had time with you
and I'll see you soon another day!
