Muddy Boots and Kitty

Muddy boots and kitty cat

been out in the garden today

first real day of spring time

one to work hard, one to play!

Stomping through the tall weeds

clearing  away unwanted growth

preparing the ground for veggies

slow and laborious like a sloth

but little kitty has other ideas

as she explores around everywhere

checking out the pond and shed

there`s nowhere she won't spare!

so, at the end of a hard day
exhausted after pulling roots
kitty's found a place to sleep
snoozing in warm muddy boots!

Mothering from a Distance

This year it`s a different Mothering Sunday. 

no more hugs or kisses, just social distance

virtual gatherings and emails received,

This Mothering Sunday`s strange existence

no matter what the virus throws at us all

it will never take away the meaning of this day

we all continue to love our wonderful mothers

from birth to death, they`re special in every way

so show your love for mothers from a distance

not just flowers, cards and a phone conversation

tell them how truly special they really are

shout it from the rooftop and join the celebration

Special Mother

From one mother to another

though this mother be the daughter

their relationship is special

mixed with memories so sentimental 

helping the family to grow with care

creating tender moments to share

always cherish her in your heart

and you'll never find yourselves apart

 laugh, smile and love each other

and be wonderful mothers together!

Happy Birthday Erin

    With all this Coronavirus effecting so many people, and events, I was  saddened to learn that little Erin`s 5th birthday would be a lonely on as she is currently in isolation with her family. Her birthday is this weekend and she does understand why she can`t go out and play with her friends and have a party.  Mum asked if people in the local area would be willing to send her a card to show how special Erin is.  This the poem I wrote for her.
Erin I hope you have a magical 5th Birthday 💜 

  Happy Birthday Erin!

   Unicorn Kitty came to tea

   she tucked into jam and bread

   making such a big mess

   as she had jam upon her head

   Erin gave her milk to drink

   but she poured it on some cake

   sucked it up through a straw

   and called it a rainbow milkshake !

Ode to the Washing Line

To see white billowing sails

flashing across the garden skies

full flight in the steady winds

lows followed by mighty highs

colours bright in the morning sun

all tethered along the line

heavy with a clean crisp smell

now parading and looking fine

sometimes blocking out the sun

changing shape in the winds blowing

patterns fall across the ground

creating shadows ever flowing

sounds of cloth cracking in the wind

with the sudden change of direction

such a joy to see the line full

of clean clothes, such perfection.

Good Night

It`s been such a busy day

time for me to say good night

too tired to head off to bed

so I`ll rest here til morning light.
