NaPoWriMo 2022

Day 12  - prompt

Today`s challenge is to invert our imagination and write a poem about a very small item.

Happy writing!

Grain of Sand

great rocks battered by the sea
ground down into tiny grains
travelling throughout the world
wherever the great ocean reigns

each grain caught in the current
never knowing where it will land
ever ground smaller and smaller
like all the other grains of sand

invisible in churned up waters
before its washed up on a beach
joined by millions of tiny fragments
golden grains just out of sea`s reach

then off again when the tide rises
back to travelling along in the sea
where will the grain of sand land?
no idea, so please don`t ask me!

NaPoWriMo 2022

Day 11 - Prompt - challenged to write a poem about a very large things. I hope this chance to versify in the praise of the huge gets your poetic engines humming!

Happy writing!

Icebergs

Sculptured icebergs floating in Antarctica
chunks that have broken off from glaciers
formed of fresh water, sliding down to the sea
these huge structures comprise of many acres

only a small fraction is seen above water
the rest reach down into the depths of the ocean
blue colour, like the blue of its surrounding waters
gives an eerie sensation, along with its bobbing motion

from the first snow fall to the final melting in the sea
this iceberg is ancient, formed over 3 centuries ago
travelling slowly through flat ice sheets where seals rest
these amazing icebergs taken by currents as they flow

with the mysteries of nature surprizing us all the time
each iceberg is totally unique in size and sculpture
hidden in these frozen landscapes, far from civilization
creating spectacular scenery and a memorable picture!

To love you....

To walk hand in hand

to feel your touch so tender
as into your arms I surrender
and know you hold my heart

to always know you`re there
a love for us to share
forever my sweetheart!

Touching a Soul

When you touch someone
with a loving spirit
they touch your soul
with their deep heart
for there is nothing better
on this earth
than a giving person
who knows your worth
as we live each day
may we make a difference
and touch a soul
each and every way
bringing smiles and laughter
to many a needy soul

Love, peace and happiness !

I love to walk along the tide line of a beach and let my imagination run free...
spying pebbles tossed up by the ocean, wonder where that stone entered the sea?

Pebbles and souls

Pebbles scattered across the beach
flung around by the high tide
where they`re tossed about in the oceans
travelling in waters far and wide

those pebbles are just like our souls
thrown through waters of the ocean
constantly exploring the world
this roller-coaster in motion

with the waters shaping the souls
as it shapes these many pebbles
some times they`re marooned in one place
others crash around like rebels

for every pebble is different
like the many souls set a drift
only time will tell when they settle
then love will give them that lift

so as you walk along the beach
and spy a pebble laying there
remember to handle carefully
a soul is drifting on a prayer!

NaPoWriMo 2022

Day 7 - prompt   challenged to write a poem that argues against or somehow questions a proverb or saying. They say that "all cats are black at midnight" but really? Surely some of them remain striped.
Maybe there is an ill wind that blows no good. Perhaps that wind just has some mild dyspepsia.
Whatever phrase you pick, I hope you have fun complicating its simplicity.

Happy writing!

Wrong Side of Bed!

if you`re found to be grumpier in the morning
it`s said you got out of the wrong side of bed
this proverb insinuated that this is bad
could be as simple as you banged your head!

there`s no real difference to what side you use
getting out of bed and dressed is what`s needed
some say the left side is unluckier than the right
an old wives tale that some may have heeded

there`s no right or wrong side of the bed you see
only the fact that you have to start a new day
left siders mean you have job satisfaction
right siders earn more money along their way

beds against walls would prove more difficult
as there`s only one side that can be regularly used
and as for bunk beds, a ladder is definitely a must
three on a bed would make things more confused!

proverbs are just proverbs, there to make you think
little pithy comments full of wisdom and wit
just take care when getting out of bed in the morning
grumpiness isn't nice when  you`re confront with it!
