Since You Left!

Sat here on the quay side

waiting for your ship to dock

been so many years away

you left me deep in shock

you suddenly departed

never gave me an excuse

what was I suppose to think?

as I became a recluse

I spent my nights all alone

but kept a candle burning

watched the sea from my window

missing you and yearning

many seasons came and went

but there was no sign of you

winter, spring, summer or fall

just had to muddle on through

I have picked up the pieces

and learnt to carry on

that was until this morning

when I saw you ship at dawn

I rushed down to the quayside

just to see you standing there

your arms wrapped round another

but I didn`t feel despair

you didn`t even see me

stood there in the crowd

so I walked back up the hill

my head held high and proud

for while you`ve been away

I have become very strong

found the man of my dreams

so I didn`t need you along

40th Wedding Anniversary

I feel today should be a celebration
yet is it tingled with great sadness

you`ve wings, I`m firmly on the ground

only memories of  our love gives gladness

I treasure all the things we did together

from meeting you across the pub`s bar

holidays, campanology and music

smiles and laughter was the best by far 

I know we planned things for the future

but that was not to be at the moment

one day I`ll have my wings and join you

but until, please don`t fret or lament

so today I`m with our amazing children

on a steam train, enjoying a lovely high tea

I`m sure they`ll raise a toast to us both

Ballet of Light

amid a Gothic scene, alive in this place

such illuminating energy, so full of grace

by tall stone arches, dancing light is seen

such sheer movement, so bright and clean

column of ribbons that swirls and turns

bidding for the freedom that it yearns

lighting up the stone all around

weaving and turning without a sound

a ballet in motion, spinning on points

beautiful display that never disappoints

with such energy, passion and great flair

this mesmerizing dancer, dancing there

 Little Dreamer

Little sleepy head

what do you see

all snuggled up

in my duvet

little nose twitching

as you dream on

gentle purrs are heard

as you move your paw

run free in your world

your eyes shut tight

closed against the night

my sweet dreamer

chasing brown mice

through your dreamland

as you race around

while your body sleeps on

so rest now sleepy kitten

my little dreamer

My Angel

Miss your love and kindness

since the angels came for you

so now I look to the stars 

and feel that you are near

watch over me from above

wrap me in your loving wings

walk with me along my journey

hand in hand keep me on track

until we meet up once more

I`ll always miss you!
