Calmness

The feeling of calmness
washes over this raging sea
cooling down the anger
that dwell deep within me

slowly the colours that I see
change from fiery reds to green
blues and creams follow on
a gentler ocean can be seen

sunshine breaks through the clouds
an air of peace felt all around
stormy weather has passed on by
a soft stillness calms abound

song birds heard over head
along with the oceans flow
watery motions mesmerize
as the tides come and go

let this calmness wash over
cooling all stress and strain
you must live for the moment
let love and happiness reign

When Witches Sleep......

When all is said and done
and the wicked witch had spoken
the children can come out to play
for the rules may now be broken

bright fairy lights are shining
so with a wink the fun can begin
the darkness went when that witch left
so its smiles and laughter all round

as the moon lights up the sky
fun and happiness abound
for the party is in full swing
so let the witch sleep on.....!

Though you may not be with us
you're not forgotten in any way
for now you rest in peace
with the angels, on your special day

so on this special birthday
we remember our love for you
all your kindness, fun and laughter
will remain with us our whole life through

you were so full of energy
hope, joy, and not a drop of doubt
spending time with all your grand kids
for you never left anyone out

as we remember you dear Sid
on this, your very special day
we all come together and toast

Pools of Light

Through bright rays of sun

streaming down on me

leaving pools of coloured light

creating patterns all around

a kaleidoscope of sunshine

ever changing through the day

contrasts from light to dark

Time is an illusion....

Writing out my life

with scribblings on paper

so hard to establish

all the important parts

a life time of memories

written through my pen

ink over parchment

for time ticks on by

for time is an illusion

constantly ticking 

 hands following numbers

I`m watching time flow

exploring all that`s past

remembering events

chains linking everything

pen, paper and time !

This is a commission I did using a photo of the customer's cats

Very pleased with the outcome !

Feline Friends

Dirty foot prints across my work top

Neatly stacked papers knocked to the ground

A whisker lies there on the pillow

There has to be a cat some where around

Hear a jingling of a tiny bell

The soft meow from inside a box

Or a padding of paws across the boards

Purring as steady as the house clocks

Crashing of a vase that`s been knocked over

To the howling under the moon at night

Our feline friends are part of the family

Snuggled up asleep, so every thing`s alright

I am the servant for two wonderful cats!!

Mysterious Tranquility

standing by the waters edge

watching the clouds reflected

touched by the mystery

just feeling so connected

landscape mirrored on the surface

reflecting every rock and tree

opening your soul`s window

creating tranquility

silence is broken by a screech

and a fluttering of feathers

as an eagle swoops over

disappearing into the heathers

waters cold upon my feet

rippling over my skin

as I stand in the shallows

fighting the urge to step in

this place is full of mystery

mirroring your inner peace

nature at its purest

full of contentment and grace.

Summer......

drifting across an ocean high
fluffy cotton shrouds
like rippling white waves
bobbing close by
to an orb so warm
shining so strong
casting shadows that reflect
the light of the heavens

to lay here in this dark room
not knowing where I stand
for all love has left this place
I can`t complete your demand

though my heart is breaking
tears silently run down my face
I always wanted to love you
instead I bring only disgrace

the kindness that you showed me
is something I must preserve
all I ask is your mercy
not sure that`s what I deserve

so as I lay here in despair
not knowing my destiny
feeling my future slipping away
holding on to your memory.

Warmth of Summer

Still in the summer haze
whimsical clouds up night
wafting past the afternoon
leaving trails across the sky

dotted along the horizon
cherry blossom is seen
bright colorful foliage
explosions of vivid green

an air of expectation
can be felt all around
Mother Earth is waking up
new beginning to be found

chirpy birds on the wing
croaking frogs in the garden pond
and skittish cats chasing flies
summer fun watching all respond

sat listening to all the sounds
soaking up the warmth of day
hard winters are in the past
summer time is here to stay!!

Snoozing Cat  Sleep on


Soft fur slowly moving
as breathing contently
warm in the sunshine
feline resting quietly

ears always alert
breeze gently blowing
grass swaying to and fro
birds soaring on the wing

bees buzzing nearby
a splash of a tail
from the fish in the pond
 sticky trail of a snail!

still the feline sleeps on
alert to every thing
the day draws to an end
birds with their song to sing

all is as it should be
why cause any movement?
so relaxed, so happy
feline so content.

Weeping Soul

my soul weeps so much
for death called today
in the form of an angel
and quietly took you away

touched you so lightly
and gave you your wings
then slowly off you flew
to join the heavenly kings

it`s hard for the ones
that are left behind
to continue on living
with you on my mind

my world ripped open
all has fallen apart
as I mourn your loss
with my broken heart

rest now with the angels

for you have been set free

and from your vantage point
please watch over me

Spring is in the air!

Look to the future
smile and you will see
that every is waking up
and life is full of glee

winter time is over
there's so much to be done
be out in the sun shine
smile and have some fun

joy to behold again
children's laughter is heard
they're racing round the garden
chasing butterflies, how absurd!

skipping through the grasses
splashing in the puddles
cats prowling and dogs barking
we're smiling cos mum's in a muddle!

sunshine in their eyes
a spring in their pace
full of the joys of spring
bright smile upon their face

the thrills of the season
will bring you loads of fun
with laughter and sunshine
peace and love to everyone!

A mother is....

the center of my world
gave you life and love
taught you how to be me
smiles when you`re happy
cuddles you when you`re troubled
teaches you how the world works
stands back so you can stand tall...!



A child is....

the center of a mother's world
given life through happiness
cuddles and respect all round
taught all life's skills
learns what's right and wrong
explores their surroundings
stands tall through a mother's love...!

Fluttering through the shadows

a glimpse of colours seen

almost transparent in flight

numbed heart
torn in two
so many tears
from losing you

our direction
has lost its way
my whole world
gone that day

the road I walk
is unsteady
to travel alone
as I'm not ready

need you so
but you're not there
to much sorrow
I just can't bear

though you're not here
I see your light
a new star shines
in the sky tonight

watch over me
as I walk on
sing with me
our unique song

hold me together
now we're apart
wrap your wings
around my heart!

Frogs Eyes...

Two big eyes just visible
Breaking the surface with ease
Blinking in the bright sun shine
Just floating, if you please!

A sudden noise and down they drop
Back into the depths of the pond
A ripple on the water
Shows us how they did respond

As the water settles again
You`re left there to ponder on
For where there were two eyes,  now
A croak, a splash and they`re gone

Chocolate Trophies

Chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs

filling the store shelves and our heads

brightly coloured and so inviting

these excitingly awesome spreads

there`s different surprises to behold

eyes open wide with the promise of fun

what will be inside these sweet eggs

kids can`t wait for the day to come

and on the morning they rush down stairs

to find their trophies of the day

with cardboard boxes all discarded

it`s chocolate heaven all the way.!

Morning shaft of light

Silence felt in the morning
As a shaft of slanting light
Falls across my sleeping cat

Who as slept here through the night

Secure in the knowledge she`s safe
Rays of sun warming up her fur
As she stretches out her long limbs
Settling down with a throaty purr

Within this shaft the dust dances
like it's suspended in mid air
Almost as if a torch shines down
Upon my bed then on my chair

Watching the bright slant of light
Slowly creeping across our world
As time moves gradually by
She remains stretched,  her tail curled

As the sun rises higher
This beaming slant of light moves on
Along with my dozing feline
Until it`s at its peak and gone
