St John on the Wall

This place of sanctuary
build inside our city`s skin
tall and narrow solitude
a haven of peace within

filled with love and light
where God is to be found
from crypt to stone arches
with organ`s radiating sound

carved characters look down
upon the congregation
as they give their thanks
for all of God`s creation

with the cross to symbolize
the wonder of the Lord
for in this holy building
God is worshiped and adored
