Precious Moments

Sat here, just thinking

a quiet moment to ponder

about the little things in life

sun peeping through curtains

the laughter of my children

a collection of special photos

purrs emanating from close by

a frothy hot chocolate in hand

these maybe simple memories

but they`re so important to me

Anxiety

I thought I would share this poem I wrote about how my anxiety affects my life. It is not an easy diagnosis to live with, some days I can cope with it but others send me into a panic and all I want to do is hide. Anxiety appears to be on the rise, yet remains hidden.  Many people have anxiety and it affects each person in different ways. We are all unique and cope in our own way.

After talking to other crafters about anxiety, it was suggested that I tried to write down my feelings and how my anxiety affects me.  This is exactly how I started writing poetry in the first place, after my husband Steve died from facial cancer 18 years ago.  

I had to give it a go!

Anxiety 

Did I lock the front door properly?

I turn round and check once again

it`s becoming my daily ritual

feeling my life`s a pantomime!

every part of my day`s effected

with this diagnosis I`ve been given

doing general household chores

feel I`m at sixes and sevens

driving is now sadly a no-no

unless I have a co-pilot with me

I fret about the other drivers

anxiety, sings at me like a symphony!

but saddest of all is my poetry

my pen unable to dance on paper

sometimes I`m scared it`s lost for good

and my poems will turn to vapour

this anxiety, is a waking nightmare

though I know that life must go on

after all that goes on around me

just want this anxiousness gone!

Tree Bauble

 Nesting 

amongst

the shiny needles
of the Christmas tree
caught in twinkling lights
bright coloured baubles hang
reflecting a world upside-down 
     on the shiny smooth curved orbs      
     along with stars, candles, ribbons      
and long strands of sparkly tinsel 
shimmering through  everything
they all decorate our lovely tree 
these baubles  old memories 
revisited each festive season 
so enjoy these bright orbs
as they decorate the
Christmas tree

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

A 

star

upon

the top

of our tree

shining bright

a gift for our world, lighting up this Merry 

Christmas season of cheer & sparkling 

warmly with the many decorations

coloured tinsel, baubles, lights 

twinkling and shimmering 

bringing great joy to festivities

this little star beams out with great

joy, proclaiming good will people today

twinkling brightly over this snowy season

bringing greetings

sweet little star

dazzles light

so bright

on our

tree

Silence

A silent moment, where time has stopped
life`s motion ceased ,all is standing still

a ripple fades, inner peace is felts
sound is silenced  stillness of the soul

from sky to ocean the world sleeps
all is hushed now  for nothing will stir

no sound , no motionno breathe is felt
stillness all around, death, a state of mind

Love, peace and happiness

Touching a Soul

When you touch someone

with a loving spirit

they touch your soul

with their deep heart

for there is nothing better

on this earth

than a giving person

who knows your worth

as we live each day

may we make a difference

and touch a soul

each and every way

bringing smiles and laughter

to many a needy soul

Peace and harmony can be yours this day, sit amongst the trees and feel blessed, Mother Nature can soothe even the deepest of trouble you may hold in your soul. let the stress slip away, feel uplifted as the sounds and scents of nature takes you to another plain. Massage away the daily tensions of this fast modern era.  Listen to the creatures within the landscape,  hear each bird song as if for the first time. The rustle of leaves stirred by a gentle breeze, as dappled sunlight creates patterns across the ground.  Yes, nature is a healer, allowing us to slow down, enjoy the world around us, freeing us from noise, pollution and the greed of commerce. 

So take a moment, sit quietly among the trees, close your eyes, slow your breathe and listen to the stillness around you...

   

Beauty of Nature

wander along quiet dappled path

under a canopy of leafy branches

wrapped in nature`s healing arms

smile, enjoy, this feels like heaven

 scent of flowers fill the atmosphere

a rustle of trees on a gentle breeze

muffled sounds heard from afar

doesn`t mar the peaceful place

follow the path, see where it leads

let it calm, and inspire the mind

Be Inspired

Orange is a vibrant colour with numerous shades

each evoking different feelings and emotions

coral, pumpkins, tangerines,  vermillion

making up part of sunsets across many oceans

peaches, oranges, amber from millions of years ago

garden a blaze with colours, tulips, dahlias and a rose

every changing trees dressed in rich autumn colours

Tigger, Garfield and a bright safety vest that glows

Sainsbury bags, traffic cones, wrapping paper, clownfish

stripey tigers, orangutans, parrots, monarch butterflies,

from Mother Nature, manmade inventions 

orange has many different hues and full of surprise

Somewhere special for our family

Making memories to last forever

Yesteryear's reminiscing 

Our little haven in the city

Undeniably a musical place

Simply a comfy place to be

Icy Heart

bitter love, icy to the touch

breaks with a snap, this heart so cold

resisting comfort at every turn

choosing to remain out of the fold

warmth has departed from this soul

the core is all frozen solid

spreading through this poor creature

left unchecked, will become squalid

ever to roam the wilderness

so bitter and broken hearted

shivering, it`s chilled to the bone

as sadly love has departed

please take pity of this creature

for this could be you one day

show mercy to the ones that need it

kindness can start in such a small way!

Life`s Journey

I am a daughter

new to this world

learning as I grow

finding my way

testing my world

with every step I go

I am a sister

sharing the family

growing up together

companionship 

learning through play

holding onto each other 

I am a wife

my heart full of love

new life to explore

setting up a new home

building a life together

with the man I adore

I am a mother

with a growing family

loving, nurturing each child

home full of squeals and laughter

lives to mould and shape

responsible caring and mild

I am a widow

full of grief , but striving on

with my family a round me

yet, time is a healer

staying for the family

a new future to see

one day a grandmother

matriarch of them all

life will be awesome

spoiling the grandkids

telling them stories

laughter, joy and fun
