Garden's Music

Gentle lyrical notes
dancing through the flowers
skipping over green grass
in and out of bright sunshine
filling my garden with sounds

Secretive Dragon

A bright flash of white enamel
swish from its powerful tail
red hot fire from the nostrils
glimpse of black and green scale

awesome strength it empowers
that you can`t underestimate
as it sits on its growing hoard
of gold it endeavors to accumulate

and then when you least expect it
this creature can easily sniff you out
from deep within its dark stone cave
it'll sense you anywhere, never doubt

whether you believe in them or not
I`m certsinlysure  they won`t mind
for there's always room for dragons
they hide in plain sight for you to find!

Love walking along a beach and let the imagination flow free like the ocean!

Pebbles and Souls

Pebbles strewn across the beach
scattered around by the high tide
where they`re tossed about by oceans
travelling in waters far and wide

those pebbles are just like our souls
buffered by our swirling emotion
constantly exploring the world
this roller-coaster in motion

with the waters shaping the souls
as it shapes these many pebbles
some times marooned in one place
others, crashing around like rebels

for every pebble is different
like the many souls set a drift
only time will tell when they settle
then love will give them that lift

so as you walk along the beach
and spy a pebble laying there
remember to handle carefully
a soul is drifting on a prayer!

Memories help to keep love alive.

Love Stone Stack

Walking on the beach in summer
I'm thinking of you, my love
since the Angels came and took you
to be with them up above

I look for flat stones in the sand
ones shaped by the ocean
pale pinks and blues are best
smoothed by the water's motion

then looking for a quiet spot
to share our memories
I place one on top another
to the sea`s melodies

each stone representing a year
that we spent together
every summer I make this stack
to hold your love forever

 Tick, Tock

quiet moment to contemplate
sat back and close one`s eyes
be still, breath in this silence
for timeout is always wise

a clock ticks away the hours
 relaxing rhythmic beat
calmness of a sleeping cat
purring loudly upon a seat

distant melodies heard softly
as if from another world
strange and yet so soothing
 chords and tunes all swirled

time marches ever forward
as the clock continues to tick
a quiet moment is heavenly
best medicine and not a trick!

Hello, I thought it would be good to introduce myself

I`m Lissie, I`m based in Bristol, I have four grown up children and a little rescue cat called Jay. I live with my autistic daughter and we love going on adventurers by train together.  I worked in a bank, ran a parent and toddler group, made wedding dresses and became a campanologist.  Sadly I lost my husband, Steve, to cancer nearly 19 years ago, leaving me to bring up our four young children, sadly started to shut down and found communicating very hard until writing therapy was suggested. This unlocked a lot of emotions and helped me along the road to recovery.  I took up poetry again and found it opened up my world, I took up a creative writing course and even friends asked me to write for them, so I decided to start my little business and many years down the line, I`ve had some of my poems published in some anthologies and enjoy meeting people when I'm running my stall at different markets and have been lucky to work with children and met some amazing poets too.

I write poems that are personal, quirky and unique, I`m inspired by nature, emotions, events and people. Creating acrostic poems about customer`s names, pet and special places. I go walking and always take photos that I can use with my poems.  My ethos is painting pictures with words from the heart.

Along with my poetry, I have been knitting Friendship Bears for over 30 years (my children still have their own bears)  They are knitted in many different colours and each one has its own personality.

I'm passionate about introducing others to poetry (poems don`t always have to rhyme) sharing my poems and making people smile.
I love what I do as it enables me to be there for my family, especially to support my autistic daughter. Thank you for reading about me and my little business

Lissie x

Sundays

Lazy Sunday morning so peaceful
with hot coffee and the paper
while curled up on the sofa
gentle start to the day
cat curled up asleep
contemplating
relaxing
cuddle

Spring time in the meadows, with all the bright coloured flowers and long grasses....wonderful times ahead

Meadows

running through meadows
full of wild flowers
butterflies fluttering
in the sun for hours

flower heads bobbing
and grasses flowing
yellows, blues and reds
bright colours showing

sweet scent in the air
with bees buzzing round
there`s tranquility here
and nature abound

gentle breezes  blowing
there`s laughter in the air
running through the grasses
nature flourishes with flair

Good morning

Each single step counts, even if it appears insignificant at the time. Cherish those little moments—they might just lead to something bigger than you ever imagined! 😊

Be Curious

discover your surroundings
learn to overcome your fears
explore new opportunities
seek out new adventures
listen to those around you
start to feed your brain
create new memories
and release your inner spirit

Its certainly been a wet and windy start to  this year, but I've still managed to go for my walks.  This poem was inspired by seeing all the furry companions of fellow walkers sometimes enjoying the rain ☔️🐾

Walkies in the Rain

Racing around the park
paws splashing in puddles
sunshine and showers
with rainbows all ablaze
in and out of the water
as you chase the ducks
your fur dripping wet
from all the fun and games
watching you shaking fiercely
all the rain from your fur
twisting and turning
spraying rain drops
in different directions
making funny faces
as you soak me too!
love our walkies in the rain

Birthdays are usually happy events but this one gets to me each year.  My angel mother was a special person to me, loved her wisdom, sense of humour and the way she laughed.

Mum, enjoy your special day with dad up in heaven.

Happy 93rd Birthday Mum ☕🍰💝

My Mum, my Angel

Just to say "I love you Mum"
would mean the world to me
but since the angels gave you wings
I`ll share my love through poetry

popping round to have a chat
and share with you  a cup of coffee
we`d sort out the world`s troubles
even though your quite a softie

I miss your love and wisdom
your kindness and caring manner
now your free from earthy stress
bet you're full of heavenly glamour

on this, your birthday mum,
I`m sending all my love your way
wish I could share a coffee with you
as we celebrate your special day!

Little Spark

With a small jolt of emotion
found deep within the soul
like a spark of an ignition
if left, will burn a hole

so act upon this little flame
and trust your heart to know
for this small emotion
can help your happiness grow

An angel gave you wings

To love you

To walk hand in hand
across warm golden sand
never again to be a part

to feel your touch so tender
as into your arms I surrender
and know you hold my heart

to always know you're there
a love for us to share
forever my sweetheart!

Weapons to Rainbows

The air feels heavy
pressure pushing down
skies dark and foreboding
a storm is coming to town

there's a silence felt
like a pause in time
shrouding the whole area
muffling the clock chime

as the storm rolls in
day light disappears
thunder rumbles through
playing on inner fears

streaks of electricity
descend from the heavens
loud clashes of thunder
 like gods mighty weapons

rain lashes down hard
beating against the windows
we'll ride out this fierce storm
until we spy the rainbows

Today is International Hedgehog Day

Hedgehog

Little bundle of prickles
curled up tight in a ball
can`t see his tiny feet
nor his bright eyes at all

this tight little bundle
with thousands of spines
still looks such a cutie
masterful of all designs

keeping warm and safe
hiding amongst the worms
through winter he hibernates
until the warm weather returns

Your Heart

Listen to your heart
what do you hear
feel the joy within you
sweeping away the fear

dream big, don`t be afraid
step into the sunlight
be brave, be bold, be true
for your future is bright

(C) Lissie`s Poems  2026

Chill of the Ice

Touched by this cold winter`s grip
there's a chill across the landscapes
as patches of ice cover the lake surface
creating swirls, patterns and shapes

birds tentatively waddle on the lake
wings flapping as they slide on by
then slip awkwardly into the water
squawking loudly, before they fly

Northern Lights

above a snow covered landscape
in darkened northern skies
ghostly ribbons of bright lights
dance over head before our eyes

swirling, spiraling and twisting
a colourful display of nature
painting the sky in festive colours
great experience to treasure

an eerie silence across the land
as this spectacle continues
starting pale, reaching a crescendo
seen from many different venues

once in a life time experience
and on many peoples bucket list
mystical nature at its best
an event that`s not to be missed

Wintry Moon

On a cold January evening
drifting slowly across the sky
as the day comes to an end
 this beautiful moon I spy

following along its orbit
this celestial sphere so bright
finds itself caught on a branch
and fills my garden with light

as the evening grows darker
this moon continues on it's way
now my garden's shrouded by night
as the land waits for another day

Family likeness is very strong
with their heads held high
proud to be related
strong straight necks
sharp eyes
pointed flashy tail
and the power house below
muscular leg with large paddles
allowing graceful movement above
