just sat there proud in the night
at ease within the darkness
caught in shadow by the moon
exhaling stress in the stillness

From a distance ….
I see a shadow of a man wearing a hat
standing on the edge .. smoking
squinting, I can see a man sitting there
smoking in the dark
illusion in the night

Healing Words.

I am learning new skills as I step further along new journey, travelling down a new road..!
Since being bereaved and then finding comfort through poetry,  I have had a desire to help
others who have been through the same emotional dramas I went through.

So I have been thinking about ways I can help...and after much debate, I am setting up a new blog to encourage others to read, learn and share their journey after a bereavement.   Poetry can be a powerful way to direct emotions to a more positive means of coping.

Expressing feelings using written words can help to release pent up feelings that can lay festering deep within.  Some people can talk about their loss, while others find using a pen is better for them.

Really
excited about this project as I know it will help people, but I`m under no illusion that this will an easy venture...

I am looking for a room that I can hire, where we can meet for a chat and some writing, exploring each others experiences and dreams.

I am researching, exploring and talking to people about it...and  happy to listen to anyone who may be able to offer help or advice.

Please message me if you think you can help

many thanks

The Prisoners of War!

Standing there behind the wire fence
staring at their cold hearted guards
dressed in old dirty rags, they watch
knowing their demise is on the cards

bare footed they have trudged along
wondering how long until their death
they`ve existed through this hell hole
just waiting to take their last breath

they hadn`t done anything wrong
caught up in these terrible things
but now they were going to die
these were chains around them, not strings!

the silence is pierced by a scream
followed quickly by a gun shot
then all went quiet once again
not just shocked, they were all distraught

but their guards did not seem bothered
they just carried on as usual
some lit up smokes to keep going
others stood around all casual

no one knew who`d be the next one
as they shuffled forward again
was this violence necessary?
they were all going to be slain

rat-a-tat-tat silence is broken
the whole area is exploding
gun fire, men running, confusion
there`s a feeling of foreboding

then out of the blue there comes help
some blankets and a caring hand
after the guards are defeated
they`re led away from this bad land

all the memories of that war camp
have changed their outlook as a whole
the friends that were lost forever
embedded deep within each soul

I never know where my poetry will lead me and this one is no exception!

Night Time buddies

Angels and Teddy Bears sit on my chair
soft and cuddly in the mood light
watching over me as I dream my dreams
keeping me safe throughout all the night

kittens and puppies snooze on my bed
comfortably snug until the new day
feeling their breathing as they sleep
looking so sweet in their own little way

so as all sleep on contently at night
snuffle and snoring won`t wake anyone up
as they dream of many new adventures
until the morning when they share my cup!

The Flying Businessman

Pete the flying businessman
soaring through the skies
paraffin Pete in his Cessna
every journey`s a surprise.

living in Cirencester
giving life a loving call
working hard in Switchgears
instrumentations and all.

Pete has his claim to fame though
he schooled with our PM
learning with D Cameron
wow!, are they buddies, then?

as Pete works hard and fast
his leisure time he needs
polo with its` chukkas
and pool, where he succeeds

paraffin Pete, the flier
who always has a smile
say "Hi " if you meet him
our businessman with style.

Star Light

Spirally across the sky
spinning brightly as it goes
lighting up the night time
where it's going, no one knows

Strands of gold seeking space
testing out the atmosphere
as it moves across the horizon
casting patterns of light so near

Hues of reds and gold we see
spinning and pulsating along
orbiting celestial force
with a fiery tail, so strong

Moving swiftly along its course
streaks of colour across the moon
like candles flickering on by
this star light will be gone too soon

The Professor

This wise old professor
standing so proud and tall
a bespectacled owl
keeping watch over all

he`s taught many students
and now he stands alone
its time for him to retire
will you give him a new home?

This woman
who would do
anything
to be with her man
underhanded
and manipulative
determined
to win her case
to remain
in his strong arms
no matter
what everyone felt
thick skinned
blinkered to all
economical
with what was truth
love is blind
but the others are not
very stubborn

to the bitter end!
