Day 12
What makes a poem a poem and a dream based on prompt?
Write a poem about loving a dull thing that you own and why (how) you love it.
Alternatively, what would it mean to you to give away or destroy a significant object?
I chose to write about at dull thing I couldn`t be parted from.
Dustbin for Christmas
One year for my Christmas gift
my parents gave me a dustbin
round, black plastic with a lid
wrapped in a bright pink ribbon
it was too big to go under the tree
so mum found a place for it to hide
and after lunch when we sat down
my dad carried it in with pride
this present caused much laughter
with hubby, friends and family
inside my wrapped gifts were found
love my daft lot and their insanity
since that unusual Christmas day
my dustbin`s been in daily use
bumped, battered and not so clean
it has certainly taken a lot of abuse
these days my dustbin has been retired
resides contently amongst the plants
dusty, dull and now quite forgotten
would I get rid of it, not a chance!!

Day 10 of my NaPoWriMo Challenge,
Where am I from, not just geographically but emotionally, physically and spiritually!
Life`s a Journey
from humble beginnings life can flow
through disaster strength has been found
bitter death can lead to resurrection
so let the ink in my pen dance freely
continuing my journey along life`s road....!

Life`s a Journey
Born in the north, grew up in the south
schooled in the east and settled in the west
many rough times followed by great one too
for me and my sibling it certainly was the best
I come from a love between two people
blessed with true commitment and passion
learning from the kaleidoscope of life
with confidence, belief and expression
this enabled me to bring up my own family
full of love, laughter and understanding
though through death of their father
left me to cope with a job so demanding
introduced to the wonders of poetry
salvation appeared in my door way
allowing me to never look back again
and walk along life`s journey today

Day 10 of my NaPOWriMo Challenge
Today is all about the weather and local expressions describing it.
Had fun writing this poem.
Here`s the Weather
It`s a mixed bag over the UK
so here`s the forecast for today
a bit "nesh" up in Nottinghamshire
and "raining stair rods" in Lincolnshire
so don`t forget your umbrella
or maybe stay indoors with your fella
up in Aberdeen it`s "blowing a hoolie"
so the wind is really rather unruly
down on the south east coast
"here comes old Phoebe" they can boast
where ever you are, please be careful
and we hope this forecast has been helpful!

Day 9 NaPoWriMo Challenge
New cross culture exercise
Sei Shonagon - The Pillow Book
Today`s challenge is to write your own Sei Shonogon style list if "things"
What things? Well, that`s for you to decide!
All in a Day`s Work
today`s list of chore for me to do
thankfully not too long
sorting towels and smelly socks
my senses must remain so strong!
though my list of groceries
will take long to be done
turn is all into a game and
make the shopping daftly fun
time to a coffee break with friends
put the world`s problems to rights
politics, family and local issues
brain teasers that switch on lights!
back to crafting and writing poetry
crocheted baby blankets complete
washed, packaged and ready to post
on to the next commission, sweet!
at the end of the working day
it`s bangers and mash for supper
then we can all come together
fireside, television and a cuppa!

Day 8 of this month`s NaPoWriMo Challenge 2019
Today, we`re challenged to think about the argot of a particular job or profession, and see how we can incorporate it into a metaphor that governs or drives our poem.
Picture Moment!
memories, moments to be captured
these tender times to hold onto
with camera at the ready
all the gear, no idea
so he`ll spray and pray
Bob`s your uncle
it`s complete
album
full!

Death
where joy was once found
now loneliness fills my heart
Death has taken my soul mate
and ripped my life apart
white feathers and angel wings
show me that you are near
treasuring all that we had
sweet memories I hold dear
keeping the love we shared
locked in my soul, they`ll stay
helping me to survive
since Death stole you away
I`ll now look to the future
and treasure my feathers
rest in peace my loved one
once more ,we`ll be together

Day 7 NaPoWriMo Challenge
Write a poem of gifts and joy
What would you give yourself, if you could have anything?
What would you give to someone else?
My Gift
my gift to myself would be laughter
allows folks to smile hereafter
all my problems slip away
creates a content day
I believe it`s true
my gift to you
happiness
so fight
less

Day 6 #NaPoWriMo Challenge
Why do people need poetry?
Write a poem that emphasizes the power of "if", of the woulds, coulds and shoulds of the world!
What if …… could. should and would poem!
What if the sun didn`t rise.... !
If I could call the sun and ask for advise, I would chat for ages
If I could flick a switch, flood the world with light, there`s be warmth
I would ask all the cockerels to call the sun home
I would ignite all the candles that exist, creating a homely feel
I should plead for the sun to return as the world can not cope
I should welcome the dawn of each day and be thankful with my life
If the world is in darkness, I couldn't reach out to anyone
If it was a permanent night, how would we survive?
We are unable to thrive in the darkness
We need the life giving powers of the sun
What if the sun didn`t rise in the morning?
We could suffer so badly and die!
