Leopard

With sleek lean body crouched in the undergrowth
ears pricked and eyes so bright, watching for her prey
blending into her surrounding habitat
its unsuspecting meals`s not far away

watching and waiting for the right moment
her eyes darting back and forth cunningly
eyeing up her next victim, her next meal
then once chosen, it moves in so stunningly

crouched low to the ground, moving silently
following every movement through the darkness
her prey unaware of her presence close by
at the right time, she leaps out of the blackness

with her unique speed, the prey stands no chance
so adapted with her eyes, ears and coat
this leopard attacks with her claws out stretched
suffocating her prey with a bite to the throat

after only a short space of time for the kill
the wilderness in plunged back into silence
with her meal safely dispatched up a tree
this leopard helps to keep nature in balance

I have a great love for the big cats and their way of life,
long may we still be able to see them.

Dear Mother

This message is sent from my heart
for that's where I hold your memory
missing all the things we did together
with so much love and energy

my prayer is sent on an angel's feather
drifting up to heaven above
wrap your loving wings around me
for I'm missing a mother's love.

my soul is missing a mother`s presence
her wisdom in troubled times and sorrow
yet all her lessons are there to help me cope
until once more we meet again tomorrow!

Royal National Lifeboats Institution

O
ur island that sits proudly

surrounded by different seas
and pounded by ferocious currents

where people work their
trades

boats, barges, yachts or ferries
all have plied their livelihoods

yet throughout our history

disasters have struck without notice
and many have sadly lost their lives

thank goodness we can rely on

such a wonderful institution
whose volunteers are amazing heroes

clad in orange waterproofs
and yellow booted feet
there to secure our safety

for they rescue stricken people

caught up in terrifying peril
upon our volatile seas

be proud our little country
surrounded by the ocean
this island we love so dear!

Ancient Twisted Tree

 ancient treasure
 bark so gnarled
spiralling upwards
each crevice rotating
to outspread branches
continually changing

 standing so proud
over many years
amidst the gardens
through every season
shrouded in moss
or bathed in sun light

branches like fingers
pointing up to the sky
welcoming the weather
all through each year
creating many homes
for nature`s creatures

as with great age
assistance is now needed
with sturdy supports
for sagging branches
a beautiful tree shows
nature at its best

The many emotions of music played on the guitar!

The Guitar

Watching you playing the guitar
your fingers moving across the strings
melody filling the room
feet tapping to the beat
emotional feelings
as the music take a hold of you
high twinkling tunes that lift the spirit
low bass tones tie the tune to the earth
as the tempo increases
emotions flow freely
hands dancing, heart beating
feeling one with the music
just love to hear you play the guitar
don`t feel you have to stop …

After the festivities

Now the festivities are over and everyone is getting back to normality, I find this a time of quietness.  The decorations are put away and we find ourselves eating bland food to get over all the rich festive extras we`ve been diving into as  we find that we need to lose the excess pounds we`re wearing. Family members have gone back home and the house is peaceful once more.

One thing that`s good though, the shops have stopped playing the usual rubbish they call festival music as they are in full sway with their January Sales!!  Any Christmas wrapping paper, cards and decorations are all less than half price to clear the shelves!

People are back to work, and the school term will soon start, won't be long before rush hours  will be back in full swing each morning and evening with packed buses, and stressed drivers. The festive season woll soon be forgotten!

This is the time for new opportunities, chances and even inspiration to try something you`ve never done before.  A new year will soon be here, so don`t hide, don't bury your head or carry on the way you`ve always done.  This is a chance to stand up, rise above the dull mundane normally and stand with your head held high, take a risk and strive towards your dreams!

I`m revamping my poetry business, looking at my markets and customer's needs, working on new products and also looking at the way I advertise and what markets I will be attending during the year.

I also want to get my poetry anthology published and continue to working on a book of nonets.  This has always been a passion of mine  and I really want to achieve it this year.

So at the beginning of the new year, after all the Christmas Festivities, there is so much to look forward too.   Though it maybe quiet and dull, I find that it is a time of inspiration, opportunity and optimism.  I  am looking forward to the start of the year and can`t wait to see what is on offer and what I can accomplish by the end of 2020!

Wishing you all a wonderful 2020, be positive, inquisitive, creative, happy and above all … believe in yourself!!

Santa

On the eve of Christmas as the snow falls
Santa crosses the evening sky
as eight reindeer pulls his sleigh
lead by red nosed Rudolph
laden with his gifts
for girls and boys
Santa Claus
will be
here!

2020

This is the first day of January, a new year and a new decade too..... can't quite believe it!.
So instead of staying home, I decided to catch a local train and go and visit the Zoo.
It's a hub of inspiration and a fabulous way to burn off the Christmas stodge too!
In fact,  a wonderful way to start 2020.

Monkeys, lions, gorillas and even otters. So much to see on a walk around the world. Met some tree kangaroos and chatted with a Laughing Thrush too!
Then sit in a quiet spot to rest with a latte and decide what else to view.
Ring tails Lemurs are funny to watch and then theres the gardens to wander through. Ancient trees with their branches held up to inspirational sculptures to study
.
Just a few hours to wander around the zoo is an amazing way to start my year off,  so glad I took time out to have a wander around the animal kingdom!!

I sincerely hope that this year is a wonderful year for you all, following your dreams and creating new memories 💜
