Mum`s Taxi

It`s really quite amazing

how my life can twist and turn

one moment I`m sat at home

then I`m off to drive and learn

collecting children from the station

a drive to uni in the sun

or a shopping trip with my friends

not forgetting the school run

so remember what the sign says

the one in my car window

"Mum`s Taxi", so I`m the best

I`m here through rain, sun or snow!

Mum`s Taxi is a great occupation and I love it!

Washing Line

on a warm, breezy summer morning

fresh billowing laundry drying

like coloured sails out at sea

secured with wooden pegs

rhythmically swaying

so crisp and clean

in the sun

washing 

line!

 Silent Soul!

Loneliness here

in a house full of souls

sat here on my own

evening after evening

listening to voices

from distant rooms

with a cat snoozing

so comfy on my lap

content in the silence

soft purrs in the twilight

as I gently stroke her fur

my only company tonight

Lockdown (easing) !?!?

our way of life has changed so much

living through lockdown is tough

stay at home, protect the NHS

there are times we`ve had enough

but now with easing lockdown

 our government is having a joke

one day we have to stay at home

the next day we can meet other folk

we had to do our jobs from home

if we had kids, to school them too

only go out to shop or exercise

it`s so complicated but true!

we can now return to work 

but travelling is a nightmare

driving, cycling or shank`s pony

don`t use buses if you have a care!

they want the schools to open again

a staggered start is planned

but preparation is in a shambles

not sure if schools understand

so this easing of restrictions

is definitely confusing  

hope all this will be worth while

I`d hate to think we were losing!

Our Holiday!!

Paper thin walls that hide nothing

narrow corridors with no windows

never enough storage or drawers

small beds with tiny flat pillows

all the shoes stored by the doorway

fridge crammed full of all that`s needed

towels and swim things draped everywhere

normal rules need not be heeded

our car`s parked on a patch nearby

the play area`s across the site

a plot of grass outside our door

for our blanket, it fits just right!

no matter what the weather does

we will explore, visit and roam

having a great time on holiday

so for this week, this is our home !!

Four Legged Friends

Furry friends for life

companions altogether

snuggles by the fireside

forming memories forever

walking down country lanes

and splashing in the puddles

helping dig up the garden

then home again for cuddles

Freedom

that wonderful feeling of release

hearing a key turn in the lock

creaking hinge swing open

fresh air billowing in

coolness of a breeze

touching my skin

weight lifted

freedom

free

thirty seven years since we were wed

supporting our children
