My Mother

I don`t need a special day

to show I care for my mother

each and every day`s the best

for she`s unlike any other

great cook and loves a cuddle

always ready to lend a hand

thank you to my lovely Mother

you`re the best in all the land

full of love, joy and laughter

for she offers an endless garden

Rain`s on the Way

Rain`s on the Way...

The skies darken over head

for clouds are rolling in

there seems a heaviness

I can feel it begin

the air starts to change now

a weight upon my shoulder

the first large drops of rain

makes the day seem colder

every drop of rain seems heavy

splashing upon the ground

I hear them in my mind`s eye

as they're landing all around

sky looks so foreboding

it`s like the dead of night

almost claustrophobic

wow, such an eerie sight

then the flood gates open

torrential rain pouring down

thundering on the roof tops

feel I'm going to drown

curled up safe on my sofa

this is where I`ll reside

let the stormy skies continue

for I`m warm and snug inside.

Storm Eunice

With Storm Eunice hitting the UK,  hope you`ve all battened down the hatches and are stay warm and cosy indoors. As I post this the wind is howling outside and my little cat has taken refuge in her bed.

Storm Eunice

The sky begins to darken 

as rain will soon lash down

winds blasting from the west

hitting many a city and town

batten down the hatches

this storm will be so fierce

trees and houses will be hit

howling gales that pierce

with roads and bridges closed

and no trains will run today

all school are empty now

not a child seen out to play

it`s best to remain indoors

safe from this howling storm

while winds and rain rage on

where we`ll be safe and warm

Be aware of Sadness

People can find themselves struggling with loneliness and depression.  Sometimes a small gesture, such as a text, a call or even a note, can be uplifting and very much appreciated.

A little Kindness

a simple message, text or call

or a short written sentence

just to say hi, are you ok?

can make all the difference

share kindness to help others 

supporting all those in need

for when we are feeling down

there`s someone to intercede

it`s not wrong to feel sadness

life can be extremely rough

with friends around to help us

we`ll show sadness, who`s tough!

Spring

As spring warms up Mother earth

the ink in my pen flows freely

skipping across my page

painting bright pictures for all to read

      smile and the words leap for joy....!

Twenty Plume Moth

 Twenty Plume Moth

(Alucita hexadactyla)

With lacy wings spread out wide

delicate purples and white

a cloak made up of feathers

fanned in the evening light

long antenna angled down

matching the lin of the wing

slender legs helping in flight

caught on the breezes of spring

fluttering among flowers

appears suspended in mid air

this strikingly beautiful moth

spreading its plumes with great flair!
