Life doesn`t need to be made up of headliners or action but good friends, close family, happiness and love.   People come and go with us along our journey through life.  It helps to make us who we are!

Funny Old World

This world we live in, is a funny place
far to complicated for me, you know
want to see what`s happening in my place ?
then come along, see it all, watch it flow

there have been many people in my world
they come and go through out my life time
some for a day, others for many years
and they don`t always see me in my prime!

you can`t choose your family, just your friends
I've made good ones along the way
remembering all those from my childhood
to the ones I hold dear this present day

its a wonderful, energetic life
some times there's sadness but lots of laughter too
and all the love I need around me, so
I`m blessed with happiness because I have you!

Memories, memories
all my treasures put together
creating more memories
hold them in my heart forever

there are good memories
all the wonderful things I have done
those special memories
good times, happy times, having fun!

but there are sad memories
the ones I would rather forget
they are still memories
placed in my soul with no regret

time for new memories
to fill my heart with all that`s great
I love my memories
they`re special, so lets celebrate!!

A tender moment helps to build a relationship, building memories to treasure!

Sneaked Hug

Strolling hand in hand
along the ocean`s edge
sea spray in our faces
for the  tide, we try to dodge
with bodies so relaxed
and tender looks of love
so catching your eye
we sneak a little hug
while smiling brightly
we continue along
between sand and sea
tide tickling our toes
as we walk the beach
stealing a second hug
as we laugh together
enjoying a tender moment
sneaking a kiss for good measure
loving you more!

Four Legged Friends

Four Legged Friends

walking down country lanes
and splashing in the puddles
helping dig up the garden
then home again for cuddles

furry friends for life
companions altogether
snuggled by the fireside
making memories forever

As a lot of you will know, I took up writing poetry as a therapy after losing my husband to cancer. Bringing four children up on my own was hard but being able to write down my feelings, emotions, sorrows or anger along with many wonderful moments too, really helped me to cope, it centred my soul.

Along my journey, I have learnt so much about myself and my ambitions. As a result, I have been able to help my family to get on with their lives, yet hold to all their wonderful memories of their father.
I have learnt so much more and found there are so many different types of poetry, from rhyming, freestyle, haikus, nonets, shaped, comical, memorial, sonnets, acrostic, story and odes. I have written in braille and even embroidered poetry too.
I have enjoyed every moment and feel that I am a different person, stronger and more determined to succeed.
So whatever you are going through, never be afraid to follow your heart and try something new. You may well be surprised where it will take you.
Be adventurous!

Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack and his mum, lived a meager life
selling what they could at market
he loved to explore the world around him
not watching TV, while sat on the carpet

in their garden a beanstalk grew high
easy for Jack to climb up to the top
where his great friend Bill the giant lived
mum stayed at the bottom with her crop

Jack enjoyed chilling with Bill the Giant
they`d ordered pizza and watched movies
at the end of the day he`s go back home
this place is the best, if you please!

Scars

Scars

Scars are like battle wounds,
thrilling in a way
they show how strong you were,
on that victorious day
standing up against the world,
for all that you believed in
rising above those oppressors
along side your brethren
so wear your scars with pride,
don't hide in the shadows
hold your head up high,
and live for your tomorrows!

News about the war in Ukraine is so appalling and fills our TV screams and media everywhere.  I wrote this poem about a moment in time within a war and it was included in an anthology published by Lost Towers Publications - " Beyond the Hill"

Pain of War

A gunshot is heard through the pause in battle
a man cries out suddenly, then silence once more
as the realisation starts to sink into my mind
I know someones died because of this horrid war

a body lies crumpled amongst all the debris
blank eyes staring skyward, not seeing anything now
limbs splayed out in unnatural positions
a look of sheer shock lays across his pale brow.

he did not look as in peaceful slumber
more like an action figure, left discarded and broken
his wounds so severe, it takes his life force away
blood pooling on the ground, shocked but no words spoken

sorrow deep within our hearts, as we remember him
the pain tries to surface, but determination reigns
we cannot let the loss of our friend go unpunished
retribution now runs strongly through our veins.
