Wintry Hearth 

winter has hit us with full force

howling winds swirl all around 

snow drifts piling up against walls

thick white blanket hugs the ground!

a log fire blazes in the hearth 

warm glows fill the room with light

creating shadows on the far side 

as under the door creeps in the night!

listening to the wood crackling 

as it burns deep within the hearth

come gather round this evening

for winter has engulfed the earth
