I wrote this poem while sat outside Jon's Forge workshop. Inspired by the wild roses dotted around the farm yard ⚘

The symbol of a rose

inflicts much emotion

soft velvety petals

flowing like an ocean !

bright hues of colour

and aromas so sweet

bombarding the senses

like a tantalising treat

so soft and so mystic

yet hidden from sight

sharp thorns that draw blood

in the dark depths of night

this symbol of a rose

it's beauty laid bare

hold close to your heart

and treat with great care

Dreams.

As night draws in
wrapped in silence
images of the day
veiled by darkness

as dreams flicker
through my mind
memories of the day
dancing around me

let this darkness
engulf my whole being
for I feel safe within
solitude surrounds me

My furry Friend

Let me sleep my fury friend
I hear your purring in my ear
snuggling up close by
filling my heart with cheer

the smell of your fur enticing
as you paw your comfy bed
sweet dreams my furry friend
curl up and rest your sleepy head

Dreams at Dawn

Laying down my pen to rest
be still after the flow of ink has stopped
for I have painted the latest picture of words
now it is time to let my dreams rule my heart
for when the dawn rises, so I will pick up my pen once more....

Ice Cathedral.

Hidden inside the rock and snow
a cavern deep within the earth
glistening stalactites and stalagmites
grown over many years since birth

icy sculptured cathedrals
hidden deep underground
glistening with each drop of water
seldom experienced as rarely found

with each drop stalactites have grown
their tips almost touching the floor
where stalagmites teach up to touch
creating wondrous sights so pure

an underground so full of beauty
sparkling in the manmade lights
shows move as light flickers
nature's ability to create amazing sights

Watching

purring happily like a statue
she hidden in her secret spot
poised to pounce on anything
tail twitching as she waits
pointy ears pricked up
what will she spy
hidden there
watching
life

Over the garden fence

Over the garden fence
cat and dog were having a  chat
putting the world to rights
food, toys, humans and all that!

leaning against the wall
cat enjoying the flowers
ears pricked and eyes alert
they carry on for hours

should their humans do more
and feed them better food
show them love in different ways
they had to be more shrewd

Cat was really happy
she has a lovely new bed
very soft and comfy
somewhere to lay her head

Dog very was excited
and madly wagging his tail
for he had a new ball and lead
then he was distracted by a snail

as the sun starts to go down
the two friends call it a day
back home to their own humans
there`s always tomorrow to play!

Sea of Hate

Feel so alone, an orphan set adrift on a sea teeming with hate
no sail or rudder to guide me
no company to share my woes
I am a solitary figure floating aimlessly... shark bait!

Covid Loneliness

Sat here all alone in this quiet room

yet hear muffled voices from a distance

a hint f laughter passes over head

feeling a lack of actual existence

life sucks so badly, where has fun gone?

Coronavirus has created so much fear

just want to have some freedom back

normality is what`s needed here

World Poetry Day

Painting pictures with words from the heart

imagery held deep within your soul

letters spilling out over crisp white pages

emotions taking complete control

a quick haiku to leave a message

acrostic to celebrate a kindship

shaped verse to cheer up a sick child

not to mentions a poem of friendship

free flowing freestyle capturing a moment

something a hold on to at your leisure

remembering an occasion of a lifetime

creating memories forever to treasure

a little nonet makes a perfect gift

for someone special to honour

show how much to appreciate them

or to courage and help feel stronger

for poetry has many different forms

creating emotions to set hearts on fire

great fun to write, read and enjoy

they can intrigue, inform and then inspire

Sleep well my little angel

watched over through the night

may your dreams be beautiful

as you wander through scented pastures

under white fluffy clouds

all quiet and peaceful!

Darkness

A bright flickering flame
snuffed out in a second
extinguished light
darkness beckoned

swirling drifts of smoke
cause a multitude of shapes
stimulates imagination
each moment it escapes
