Lovers Candles

In the centre of this wooden floor

Two tall white candles can be found
Standing in their shallow saucers
Silently waiting, not making a sound

These candles belonged to some lovers
Who have been sadly separated
For what should have been happy times
Were now mournful scenes that are hated

With these candles lit, small flames seen
In this bare room, that shone bright
When suddenly the lovers were split
These special candles lost their light.

The room had been filled with loud shouts
And a struggle that didn`t succeed
Then silence fell upon this bare place
After such a sad and awful deed

Extinguishing those lonely candles
Was astonishing to watch the smoke
Forming the two lovers faces kissing
A lasting image on this floor of oak

I was inspired by a photo of two smoking candles
Within the smoke of each candle two faces were seen kissing.

There is a special room in my home
That means such a lot to me
One that holds my memories
Of me and all my family

Snap shots of my life in frames
Hung up there looking so smart
Milestones that mean everything
Looking through them, tugs my heart

Moments in time that`s important
Gem stones from all of our past
To see how we have developed
Allowing these images to last

So I sit here and cherish them all
I find myself welling up with pride
Photographs that will stay with us
In my special room, side by side.

Capturing a moment in time, a happy memory, is a wonderful thing to be able to hold on too.

Hell in our hearts

Hell can be an illusion
It`s how you deal with it that counts
For all the fire and brimstone
There`s been many different recounts

Scorching pain and destruction
That can set you back a long way
For the hell in our hearts is so cruel
As it can really mess up your day!

Hades rules his realm with force
He shuts us off from the world
Trapped there for all eternity
No matter how much abuse is hurled

To break free from all this hell
We have to be determined and strong
Have faith to take that first big step
To be able to see the light, our life long!

If hell is to be found in our head, we will survive if our heart is pure!

The Unfortunate Argument

He runs silently away from the scene
As darkness envelopes her limp body
Fearing that the crime would be discovered
Laying there in this place so dank and shoddy

Shocked at what had really happened to him
He wept as he ran through the countryside
Almost running blind as he dodged the trees
Scared of what he`d done, couldn't believe she had died

They`d argued about something so stupid
She had stormed out and disappeared for hours
He had stomped angrily back to his work
Never thought she`d appear through the showers

The rain was beating down on the tin roof
With thunderous clouds and dark skies over head
He did not hear the sharp knock on his door
So finding her there, he was filled with dread

At first he thought it all was going well
Until he touched a very sore subject
She started to argue and shout at him
Accusing him of such heartless neglect

She suddenly lashed out at him with force
He took a few steps back to escape her
There was a flash of a blade in her hand
What followed next happened in a great blur

He found a gun in his hand as they scuffled
Feeling a sharp pain in his side, he shoots
She screams, staggers, then slumps to the ground
He dropped to his knees, crying from their disputes

Suddenly it hits him, he has killed his wife
Escape is the only thing on his mind
What will he do now and where will he go?
Running out of the hut, leaving her behind

It didn't cross his mind that she could be alive
Laying there unconscious in that dank place
He just stumbled on, not knowing where he was
This was something he could not embrace

With the rain pouring down, he staggered on home
Knowing that he had only one course to take
He would end his life, didn`t deserve to live
This whole evening has been a great mistake

Back in the hut she was stirring, though groggy
Slowly taking in what had happened there
Finding herself along, wondering where he`d gone
She knew she had to go find him, but where?

Getting up, she staggers through the open door
Realising that he had to be found
Knowing exactly where he would run to
She followed his rough trail over the ground

With their home in sight, she gingerly enters
Seeing his study door open slightly
She slowly enters with a heavy heart
Slumped on the floor her husband, so unsightly

Crouching down beside him she cried out aloud
For he believed he had shot her to death
Now he was dead, how was she to continue?
Died for nothing, alone for his last breath.

The Guitar

Watching you playing your guitar
Your fingers moving cross the strings
Melody filling the room
Feet tapping to the beat
Emotional feelings
As the music take a hold of you
High twinkling tunes that lift your spirit
Low bass notes tie the tune to the earth
As the tempo increases
The emotions flow freely
Hands clapping, heart beating
Feeling one with the music
Just love to hear you play the guitar
Don`t feel you have to stop.......

The many emotions of the music played by the guitar.....

You can make it.....

What was sunny and bright around me
Is nothing more than an illusion
Reality has taken a hold
I now have to find a solution

Hoping there`s light at the end of the tunnel
So will tread slowly and with care
I need to get through this in one piece
For my whole world is now laid bare

Struggling through all this tribulation
Has shown that I`m better than all this
I am able to rise above my troubles
That I can pull myself back from this abyss

So if you find yourself stuck in a tunnel
And feel that there is nowhere for you to go
Remember that with the help of your loved ones
You`ll make it to the light, that`s all you need to know

With family and friends, anything is possible!!

Christmas Cheer!

It`s that time of year again
the excitement is growing
everyone has their secrets
there`s no sign of it slowing

Shopping bags and packages
sticky tape, and wrapping paper...
cards written and presents done
all this fun is such a caper

Decorations all in place
just love the atmosphere
raise you glass everyone

for Christmas time is here!

Christmas count down has started !!

Happiness

Being happy can means lots of things
To each and everyone
Sunshine, fluffy clouds
Dancing in the rain
Presents on our Birthdays
Or heaped under the Christmas Tree

Lazy mornings laying warm in bed
A cup of tea to hand
Lunch in the garden
With smiles and laughter
Out for a meal with friends
Hot cocoa before it`s bed time

Making sand castles on the beach
Paddling in the sea
Fresh air in my lungs
Catching crabs for tea
Sandwiches and icecreams
Walking the tide line for sea shells

Smiles, laughter and fits of giggles
Eating chocolates
Pillow fights galore
Being cuddled tight
These mean so much to me
Happiness makes you feel so good.

A feel good poem
I was asked once,  what sort of things made me happy,  I gave it some thought and these are some of the things that make me happy.
How about you?
