Liars....

Lies catch me out
creep up and bite me
when I least
expect it....
stand before me
unflinchingly
with pleading eyes
so sincere...
yet
your eyes lie to me
hurt me deeply
never a care
no remorse shown
as all of these are
for their own means
so hateful
deceitful
lies breed lies
hides the truth
always there
never ending.....

Warm love..

Through these cold times
frozen ink is warmed
by the love that's found
deep within my heart

Stilted Pathway!

By the blue lagoon waters
a stilted pathway is spied
meandering in its way
like a stumbling drunkard
on his journey home
across this serene bay

In these turquoise waters
each wooden post sunk deep
holding firm against the tide
and steadfast in its path
damp under our feet
drawing us to the far side.

Seeing these tree posts
like fossels from the past
standing proud of the surface
enabling us to venture
safely across the bay
there's mystery in the place

The Prisoners of War!

Standing there behind the wire fence
Staring at their cold hearted guards
Dressed in old dirty rags, they watch
knowing their demise is on the cards

Bare footed they have trudged along
Wandering how long until their death
They`ve existed through this hell hole
Just waiting to take their last breath

They hadn`t done anything wrong
Caught up in these terrible things
But now they were going to die
These were chains around them, not strings!

The silence is pierced by a scream
Followed quickly by a gun shot
Then all went quiet once again
Not just shocked, they were all distraught

But their guards did not seem bothered
They just carried on as usual
Some lit up smokes to keep going
Others stood around all casual

No one knew who`d be the next one
As they shuffled forward again
Was this violence necessary?
They were all going to be slain

Rat-a-tat-tat silence is broken
The whole area exploding
Gun fire, men running, confusion
There`s a feeling of foreboding

Then out of the blue there comes help
Some blankets and a caring hand
After the guards are defeated
They`re led away from this bad land

All the memories of that war camp
Have changed their outlook as a whole
The friends that were lost for ever
Embedded deep within each soul

Let my pen flow...
free to roam across the page
painting pictures from my heart
hinder it not......
for it's life force flows from the soul!

Mornings

Bright lights shining through my curtains
The whole sky full of vibrant hues
Birds chirping with the dawn`s chorus
I`m laying here, just wanting to snooze.

The colours of the sky have changed now
Awakening to the full rays of the sun
I am ready for what is thrown at me
Hope it`s full of laughter and fun.

My daffodils are flowering in the kitchen
My tulips are blooming in the front yard
The sun beats down upon my shoulders
The garden`s looking just like a postcard.

Sweet aroma of fresh coffee fills the air
The crunch of toast as I sit and eat
The morning paper rests beside me
My start of the day is now complete.

Chosen Path

I thought
I could trust you
let you see
my inner feelings
yet now I know
you couldn't care less

I wasn't important
not worthy
you believed you better
above the rest
you'd been blessed
for a higher path......

I can not believe
you could be so cruel
take my dignity
trample over me
disrespectfully
then walk away

How I resent you
see you for real
who you really are
bitter, selfish
that you've become
not the man I knew.....

Roses for my love

Roses symbolize such passion
these precious gifts we hold so dear
a token of my affection
makes me want to keep you so near

over time it begins to open
this rose comes into it`s glory
releasing such luscious sweet scent
infusing us in our story

securely protected by sharp thorns
these flowers are as safe as you
I would defend you to the end
to be happy our whole life through

even after this rose has gone
it`s image is there in the heart
to remind us of our true love
so that we`ll never be apart

these roses are given as a token
with petrals so bright and luscious
symbolizing the love between us
for to me, you are so precious

® Lissie Bull 2015

Love

A rose is a symbol of eternity
to be held in a tender heart
for without true love
there is no rhyme or reason

Valentine`s Day

Here`s a lovely Valentine`s Day Gift

A framed poem with a hand crochet flower
for the one you love.

Message me to order one for your special someone !

                                                                                                                            © Lissie Bull 2015

My Grandmother

A grandmother is a wonderful woman
such a combination of warmth and kindness
laughter, love and cuddles always
with a bed time stories full of tenderness

A grandmother has the wisdom of a teacher
memories gathered over many years
someone to admire, look up to with respect
always supportive with smiles and cheers

A grandmother is someone that's loved so much
as she's a mother with lots of knowledge
for experience from life has molded her
into a wonderful person, who's there to encourage

My grandmother has always been there for me
helped me through life from childhood to mother
she may not be here now, but this I can say
loved her dearly, there can never be another!

Independence

Though you are a man
physically speaking
there is still a child inside
emotionally screaming
tearing you apart from within

Independence needed
maybe not an option
leads to frustration
in all walks of life
ripping at your very soul

Capability questionable
wanting to live your own life
that first leap of faith
real or imaginary
cutting the umbilical cord

We all go through this
at least once in our lives
leaving the safety of home
choosing our own pathway
standing on your own two feet!

Visions from the soul

                                                  Through the sands of time
                                                             a picture
                                                                     is slowly forming
                            emerging
                  gently in to sight
                                                            an image formed
                                                                          from the heart
                                                                       as colours become
                                                                                   brighter
                                                           tones deepening as it develops
                                                                   these emotions
                                                                                   grow stronger
the soul want to be seen

Time on my Hands

My life ticking on
marking out the hours
running through my fingers
like the sands of time

signaling dawn to dusk
with minutes marching on
hands rotating round
my illuminated dial

held in my palm
cradled so securely
 chain anchors time down
to my own life line

so ticking on by
seconds, minutes, hours
measuring all my days
that then turns to years

Memories from my Sofa

While curled up on my sofa
on this cold and frosty night
thoughts of you upon my mind
so fills my heart with delight

Missing you at this time of year
the house is far to quiet
so want to hear your laughter
while you're causing a riot!

Its the little things I miss
since angels came and took you
for they took a piece of my heart
and left me feeling so blue

As I sit and remember
of all the great times we had
my heart is filled much proud
and then I don't feel so bad

I know we'll be together
when the angels come for me
until then I have our kids
and they'll keep me company !

Winter Warmth

Swirls of steam
sweet aroma
warm invite
from the cold
frozen winter
cold hands
fire roaring
curled up snug
cuddling my cup
of hot coffee
topped with cream
and sprinkles
so tasty
and nibbling
on chocolate
in the warmth...
shut out winter
all wrapped up
by the fire
another chocolate
is most welcome!

Two Shiny Eyes

Two shiny eyes visible
through the swirling misty night
one reflected above the other
with the horizon in between
this brooding beast at rest
residing in its paradise

slumbering in this peaceful spot
just the sound of lapping water
undulating across the bay
this black and white atmosphere
so let this sleeping creature
rest on in its paradise

for as these eyes slowly close
passing on through the nightly arc
as darkness will slowly falls
so as these two shiny eyes close
this slumbering beast lays still
asleep in its paradise.

New triple wooden framed set of poems..
The are a themed set on treasures, remembering  and mysteries.
All written by myself  and can be found on this blog

Questions

How can you trust someone
when all they do is lie
How can you love someone
when they slam the door in your face
When do you stop forgiving
                            even though they never change
  When can you move forward
           if they just walk away
 Life is hard enough
        without all this hate
Why can`t we live in harmony
                      and grow closer every day?

Ocean Tranquility

Across this tranquil ocean
a wooden slatted walk way
stretching to the horizon
just above the surface
enticing me to roam
over these vast clear waters

though so rickety and old
I need to follow my heart
so with each tentive step
I move forward slowly
feeling the sun on my face
under this bright blue sky.!

each of these planks of wood
creaking under my feet
moaning as I walk on by
as I make my way slowly
across this beautiful bay
waters undulating beneath!

as I continue to walk
marine life swims close by
no idea what I will find
what mysteries lie before me?
to walk across this peaceful bay
amongst ocean tranquility

Frog`s Eyes

on shimmering surface
with ripples passing by
reflecting many colours
from sun bright in the sky

peeping through the water
it was really a surprise
watching out for it`s meal
there`s a large pair of eyes

twas only for a moment
but I watched as it near`d
colours, green, white and blue
this amphibian appear`d

the swelling of its throat
was such an awesome sight
raising its head gave a croak
its eyes catching the light

for this dear handsome frog
who has gently touched my heart,
leaping at a winged beast
does splash down and then depart

Meandering life force

Standing alone
watching the flow
deep in the valley
meandering below

feeling the breeze
across my face
whispering secrets
of this sacred place

the ancients are here
standing by my side
guiding my life
filling me with pride

my future is assured
I know where I`m going
Though I have my past
happiness is growing

looking on down the valley
upon this awesome river
brings forth much goodness
with it`s roll as life giver!

to stand up here and watch
 the world pass on by
the ancients are with us
watching from on high

A life time

Though all the tides of time
Can be seem in his face
His thick leathery skin
Show`s he had a hard race

Tired sad hazel eyes

That have seen many a sight
Still with a twinkle in them
Because he knows he`s right

Tight tanned skin over his cheeks

Hides black lines under his eye
For he has seen many things
That`s toughened him, made him wise

His lips are pale and thin

But his smile`s so sincere
He has many a tale to tell
That you should sit and hear

His people have been through much

Their journey has been long
Throughout it they`ve stood tall
A race that is so strong

He may not run around

Or shout and cuss like us
Life means everything to him
Just love him, don`t make a fuss.

I was looking at The National Geographical and there was an article about Native Indians of America.  It was fascinating and it got me thinking about their out look on life and our perception of them. What they have been through and seen and how that effects them.

My Coffee Moment......!

Watching the steam
twist and turn
slowly rising
patterns forming
changing all the time
mesmerizing me...!

bitter sweet taste
playing on my tongue
with each sip taken,
seeing its decoration
sink slowly to the bottom
of my coffee cup

feeling the warmth
deep down inside
this coffee aroma
relaxes away the stress
can't beat a great latte
along with good company...!

Tidal Walk

The roar of the sea
crashing over the sand
walking along the edge
miss holding your hand

for we took to the beach
as the sun was just setting
following the tidal walk
this, I`m never forgetting

searching for gifts from the sea
the spray of the ocean
felt on our faces as we were
watching the sea`s motion

the ebb and flow of movement
feels so tranquil to the soul
with rhythmic waves rolling in
we`re left to feel contently whole

as streaks of bright colours
are seen across the sky
mirrored on the seas surface
while the sun dips with a sigh

on the evening tidal walk
I still feel you close to me
memories, they`re important
for this is where we were happy...!

A Ship`s Death

Becalm on a mirrored ocean
it`s working days have ceased
sliding slowing into the depths
sent to the grave by Neptune`s priest

It`s stern still raised to the sky
such a worthy fisherman`s friend
along with its tall straight mast
its defiant and proud to the end

all the rigging can clearly be seen
against the backdrop of the sky
aerial, wheelhouse and railings
visible to the naked eye

the death of the hard worked ship
proves to be a sad day for all
seen sinking down into the depths
leaves memories that one can recall

Wintry Tree

A solitary tree stands in silence
Under a bright blue wintry sky
Branches that were once wrapped in green
Now stand out with snow piled high

So white against the snarled bark
Snow crystallised, an eerie sight
A thick blanket covers the landscape
Glistening in the sun shine bright

Cotton wool covered tree trunks
Standing in a line at the edge of the fields
Nature tucked up in its warm covers
Like soldiers protecting with their shields

Muffled silence from the snow fall
Most creatures hibernating now
Only venturing out when needed
Racing through old furrows from the plough

So as we stand and admire
This ancient tree still stands here
All dressed in its wintry coat
But round the corner spring will appear!

Inspired by a photo from my friend  John titled " Wintry Tree Scape"

Thank you John

China and Pearls

In the silence of this moment
memories treasured
time moves on slowly
with each hour of the day
sounds of sweet melody
in shade from the pear tree
whilst all dress up in pearls
for our afternoon tea
tunes running through my head
of a bygone era
as we danced through the tulips
on a long summer`s day
the clink of the china
along with twittering birds
these were the heady times
that will never be forgotten....!

Thought I would repost this wintry poem!

Wintry Morning..

I get out of bed and ready
Outside it`s cold and crispy
Wrapped up in coat and scarf
With gloves and keys in hand
The car is covered in ice
Encased in a layer of white
There`s scraping to be done!
It takes some time to clear
With billowing clouds of breath
The chore is now complete
Engine roaring, heater blowing
All strapped in for the ride
The car is steaming up!
It`s now time to set off
And explore the wintery world

I have had to get up early this weekend, and found the car all frozen over, fun and games to clear it, before we are able to drive off !!

Little cloths of my line....

On this sunny afternoon
all pegged up in my cloths line
a row of bright coloured tops
in warm sun light, look's so fine

for these are awesome peg bags
so pretty and all handmade
flags, flowers and vivid patterns
all hanging there on parade

each one is a work of art
crisp and fresh for all to see
these my sweet little peg bags
so proud they`re made by me..!

A year In Rhyme

January was cold and wet

Can`t believe it`s a new year
So much here to celebrate
Let`s start it off with a cheer

February is much the same

Though there was Valentine`s day
Mother earth is waking up
Which means spring is on its way

March is the month for Easter

Where spring should now appear
Away with the winter blues
An egg hunt is happening here

April is the month for fools

Sill pranks are all around
Puts a smile upon your face
For there`s happiness abound

May dances in with such flair

Songs and merriment too
Farm hands are working so hard
As crops begin to peep through

June then leaps in with flowers

As the garden`s in full bloom
It`s great to welcome summer
Lazy times here we assume

July can be a stressful month

Exams are now in full swing
Soon there`ll be the holidays
And beach boys will then be king

August brings hot summer days

Six weeks off from all the schools
Foreign travel to distant parts
Barbecues and swimming pools

September hails term again

It`s back to education
Though the weather is still warm
After that great vacation!

October and now autumn`s here

The nights are getting shorter
Reds, oranges and yellows
We`re into the fourth quarter

November means fire works

And Remembrance Sunday too
The trees are stripped of their leaves
And Jack Frost has skipped on through

December brings in winter

It has been an awesome year
Merry Christmas one and all
Hope the next is full of cheer!!

Happy New Year
