Mustela Erminea

This furry little mammal
slithering among dry stone walls
darting through the undergrowth,
in sunshine, rain and snowfalls

never still for very long
inquisitive of their territory
in and out of roots and rocks
as they hunt out their quarry

known as `long tailed weasels
but certainly more aggressive
so agile, allowing swift movement
their ability to hunt is impressive

these cheeky little Mustelids
have brown and cream coats in summer
but come winter, they change to white
great camouflage! what a wonder!

so don`t underestimate them
bright coats, lithe features
and a very ferocious bite
yet stoats are amazing creatures
