Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill went down the hill
to fetch some cider for father
they met Tom Thumb 
playing his drum
and decided to go no further !

Humpty Dumpty sat in a bench

reading his book about the big sea
he looked up with see
with so much glee
Jack, Jill and Tom as happy as can be

They all walked down together

as the sun was starting to set

it`d been a good day

in every way

they`ll remain best friends forever!

Heavenly Moon

This tiny speck of light

shining through the dark so bright

hovering up high in the sky

where angelic angels fly

this mysterious orb that I see

what, I wonder could it be

floating slowly on by .. blinking

smiling down on me and .. winking

it feels good to see it there

sparkling with so much flair

this sweet and heavenly sphere

that fills me with so much cheer

hope to see you again real soon

my heavenly bright shiny moon

On a clear night, it`s great to see the bright shiny orb we call the moon!

Woodland

Dappled sunlight flickers through the branches
specks of dust and leaves floating in the breeze
a blanket of silence fills the forest air
broken only, as a startled deer flees.

the forest floor is carpeted in blue
as I slowly walk along the wooded way
birds and animals active all around me
never seen, but watching me as they play.

a set of wings fly silently passed me
as with elegance, the creature glides on
only the movement of air is left behind
before you know it, the spectacle is gone.

the sudden crack of a twig beneath my foot
sounds so loud amongst the woodland scene
it echoes around the many ancient trees
silence wrapping it up in forest green.

Long warm sunny days

brings out the best in nature

watching a playful squirrel

such an inquisitive creature

scampering up and down

the trunks of gnarled trees

twitching his fluffy tail

 cheeky chap,  such a tease

Troubled Waters

 If only I had known

how low you felt

if I had opened my eyes

and seen your sorrow

was there something 

I could of done to save you

these troubled waters

drowning you in darkness

slowly suffocating

our relationship

how can I save us?

Sir Knight

This fine figure of a  knight

standing tall in all his glory

chivalrous in all his beliefs

his life, a magnificent story

decked in bright shiny armour

really to ride out for his lord

defend against all intruders

bearing his lance and sword

but this knight is special one

he`s a fighter and a diplomat

with bright eyes and whiskers

for this proud knight is a cat!

Grandmother is a special person

Hide-a-way

Hide-a-way

There`s a kitten shaped hole in my wall

two small cosy circles side by side

just the right size and shape for a snooze

some where to snuggle up in and hide

nestled with this spot, a kitten sleeps

body touching the back of the hole

as its paws over lap the edges

tugs at my heart watching this cute soul

the sun shines brightly across the wall

though kitten is sheltered in the shade

four white feet bobbing in the sun shine

it`s all tired our after kitten`s played

with this kitten hideout, purpose built

for a creature that so needs to sleep

laid hidden from every ones view

sleeps soundly but can always peep!

Kittens and cats sleep where they feel safe and comfy......

Nature`s Music

Lyrical notes

dancing through the flowers

skipping over green grass

in and out of sunshine

filling the garden with sound

 Mother Nature`s Anger

As this storm starts to take hold

the sea begins to rise with rage

as the skies get darker now

Mother Earth takes centre stage

with the howling of these winds

and crashing seas across the rails

white crested waves coursing havoc

leaving such disruptive trails

people blown as they go their way

with this wind no one can stand

gushing over the sea front

where the ocean meets the land

with waves as high as houses

pounding everything in sight

thunderous sounds to be heard

storm continues through the night

for all that we knew before

we will never know again

the sheer destructive nature

nothing from this storm will remain

waters flooding everywhere

hard to tell where the sea ends

whether this will subside soon

on Mother Nature that depends

I wrote this poem while sat in the lobby of The Gilmore in Memphis.  

My friend had talked about rainbows and that it would be a great subject to write a poem on.. it was so cool and peaceful sat there and I enjoyed the chance to write.

Rainbows

Kaleidoscope of many colours

stretching right across the sky

forever painted in our minds

here one moment, then vanished.....why?

red and orange start the pattern

so rich and strong for all to see

wonderful yellow follows next

echoing the sun so perfectly

green and blue, the colours of the earth

orbiting the bright hues of the sun

reminding me of the river of life

showing us that rainbows are fun

indigo and violet follow next

colours of peace and relaxation

complete this wonderful view

filling our hearts with elation

all seven colours hung on display

such a beautiful painting to see

vibrant colours of the rainbow

arched across the sky for you and me.

Stormy times ahead

Stormy times ahead so...

batten down the hatches

stock up the cupboards

then seal all the latches

cold winds blowing

snow is coming

hard rain lashing

stormy times ahead

block up the doorways

check all windows as well

logs ready for the fire

this`ll be the storm from hell

windows rattling

snow is pitching

rivers swirling

stormy times ahead

huddled near the fire place

winds howling all around

settled in for the duration

as the storm hits the ground

winds so freezing

snow now falling

fireside blazing

 Gateway to the next world

the palpitating murmurs of the dying

are heard echoing throughout this dense wood

along with deep moans of those between worlds

haunting me....memories.. no one understood

death is but a gateway into the next world

a path that has to be taken by all

whether we travel along it willingly

our dying whispers must answer the call.

a cold sensation runs along my spine

leaves me shuddering with sheer emotion

feeling someone has walked across me grave

though dry here, I'm drowning in an ocean

these woods hold horrific memories

from that harrowing eventful day

standing here I bid farewell to your ghost

as I watch you pass on through the gateway

the gate way between worlds is a narrow one.....

 Today its 14 years since my world was turned upside down and  I loss my loving husband Steve, to cancer.

my angel, my love, my soulmate

our journey together was perfect

accomplished so much as a couple

but sadly there was a different fate

my love, my soulmate, my angel

 son, brother, husband and father

creating special moments to treasure

with our three sons and a daughter

my soulmate, my angel, my love

your departing has left many memories

that I can hold on to for years to come

sharing your deeds through your stories

Steve, my soulmate, my love, my angel

in life and death, you`re ever with me

always loved and very much missed

rest in peace my beloved angel hubby

Walkies in the Rain

Racing around the park

paws splashing in puddles

sunshine and showers

with rainbows all ablaze

jumping in the lake

all through the afternoon

as you chase the ducks

in and out the waters

your fur dripping wet

all the fun and games 

as the sun comes out

feeling warmth on your face

watching you shake

shake all the rain from your fur

twisting and turning

spraying rain drops

in different directions

baring your teeth n a grin

and your soak me too!

Memories, Memories

Memories, memories

all my treasures put together

creating memories

holding them in my heart forever

there are good memories

all the wonderful things I have done

and those special memories

moments, saying they were fun!

 there are sad memories

the ones I would rather forget

yet they are still memories

placed in my soul with no regret

time for new memories

to fill my heart with all that`s great

I love all my memories

they`re special, so lets celebrate!!

A Puppy`s Life

Little puppy so inquisitive

such a need for me to explore

what`s in there and can I chew

 will you play with me some more

 I`m small cute and lovable

with floppy ears and bright eyes

big soft paws and black wet nose

a bundle of fun for my size

this world is such a big place

there`s so much for me to see

and though my legs are so short

I`ll not let it bother me

cuddles are what I love so much

and a tickle on my tummy

a treat or two, I`ll not say no!

for they are also yummy

my life is full of love and joy

it`s great fun being a puppy

so after an exciting day

I sleep well knowing I`m lucky !
