After the election

Once polling stations have closed

behind the scenes, hard work will start

with sorting of the many ballot papers

counting, verifying, we play our part

purple, yellow, grey or white

Mayors or Police commissioners

Metro Mayors that no one understands,

to all the many party councillors 

counting, verifying, batching up again

needs to be done in the correct way

paperclips and thick elastic bands

for accuracy is the order of the day

at the end of all the sorting and counting

it`s time to declare all the figures

new posts and positions announced

as Bristol starts on some new adventures
