Painted Sky

Painted Sky

painting the world in gold and orange

black silhouettes depicted so clear

as the sun starts to descend on it`s night path

for the horizon`s ablaze from the red hot sphere

rippling waters mirrored across the sky

as elegant swans float over the surface

dark veiled clouds scattered above this great orb

a celestial star that has great purpose 

our giver of life force from the universe

that appears from the east and sets in the west

painting our world in wonderful colours

this majestic sun, we are so blessed!

The Tunnel

 The Tunnel

I feel I`m entering a tunnel

all dark, damp and bad

the sunshine has gone now

there`s only hard time`s to be had

with each step the darkness grows

wrapping itself around my heart

the walls are closing in around me

it`s frightening that I`m falling apart

happiness and laughter seem so far away

it`s cold and damp and dark in here

I`m tiptoeing forward carefully

sounds are so muffled, nothing`s clear

what was sunny and bright around me

is nothing more than illusions

reaility has taken a hold

I now have to find solutions

hoping there`s light at the end of the tunnel

I will tread slowly and with care

I need to get through this in one piece

never more to dream...I swear !!

Swan (shaped poem)

Swan

sleek

elegant swan       

    with a      

long

 long

  neck

seen

afar

across

                            the lake                     gliding

                          gently over the  surface 

                            while orange feet paddle

                             like pistons, out of sight

                             lord of the waterways

                      a stunning creature, great joy 

                 to see, they pair for life, loyal and regal 

               for all to watch!

I am the proud mother of an Artist Blacksmith and have watched him learn and develope his skills.  it`s such a physical job and demanding in many different way but also very rewarding too!

Blacksmith

From the dark recesses of the mind

ideas planned out so precisely

new images of designs are formed

then created for the world to see

with forge is all fired up

hammers and tongs are laid out ready

the air, full of anticipation

let`s get started and keep it steady

the forge sparks as the metal`s added

searing heat hits the air all around

the noise of " hammer on anvil "

fills the workshop with its sound

shapes slowly start to come to life

as metal is hammered, then reheated

rivots are made, Pillar drill`s working

hammering, heating, cooling, repeated

covered in sweat and dirt you toil

the beat of the hammers sound true

flexing your muscles to get it done

once completed, there`s the finish to do

from lacquer, bees wax or the grinder

the finish can really make it look grand

forged from pieces of raw metal

to a finished item, from a Blacksmith`s hand.

bubbling in the cooking pot

 isolated, anxious

the mind goes throuogh the lot!

emotions are part of life

they express our inner feelings

can`t always control them

from smiling to hitting ceilings

with outside influences

causing changes of emotions

confusung the mind set 

and causing many sensations

try to stay positive

look for the good things around you

we learn from these feelings

they will help us, our whole life through

First Love

That first love is so exciting, mysterious and there is such a desire.  We have all been through is or will go through it some time in our lives.

First Love

The blush of true love blossoms

as eyes meet for the first time

wondering where this could lead them

for love has no reason or rhyme

a touch, a kiss, a cuddle

knowing they want to be together

whispered nothings in their ears

they`d love each other for ever

planning a secret meeting

so their love can be explored

a tender stroke, a gesture

if mum knew, she`d be appalled!!

but their love could not be stopped

as they had to see it through

both had to be together

for their love, they knew, was true.

Two Shiny Eyes

 

Two Shiny Eyes

Two shiny eyes visible

through the swirling misty night

one reflected next to the other

 staring broodily through darkness

this brooding beast at rest

residing in its paradise

slumbering in this peaceful spot

just the sound of lapping water

undulating across the bay

this black and white atmosphere

so let this sleeping creature

rest on in its paradise

for as these eyes slowly close

passing on through the nightly arc

as darkness will slowly falls 

so as these two shiny eyes close

this slumbering beast lays still

asleep in its paradise.

A Summer`s Day

 A Summer`s Day

Time to surrender

to the summer time

long warm sunny days

under the bright sunshine

long meandering walks

through narrow green ways

passing all the fields

seeing the animals graze

hedgerows come to life

birds nesting all around

rabbits, voles and moles

their homes dug underground

picnics by the river

paddling, having fun

building dams with rocks

playing in the sun

retiring to the pub

drinks in the evening sun

chatting about the day

fun for everyone.

Long idyllic sunny days, the wonderful English countryside....what more could anyone want......as we all enjoy the summer time.
