Our Holiday!!
Paper thin walls that hide nothing
narrow corridors with no windows
never enough storage or drawers
small beds with tiny flat pillows
al the shoes stored by the door way
fridge crammed full of all that`s needed
towels and swim things draped everywhere
normal rules need not be heeded
our car`s parked on a patch nearby
the play area`s across the site
a plot of grass outside our door
for our blanket, it fits just right!
no matter what the weather does
we will explore, visit and roam
having a great time on holiday
so for this week, this is our home !!

Autism
Autism affects many people and can bring
sadness as well as great joy !
Sadly autism seems to be on the increase, at least that`s how it feels. I think it`s more that we are aware of this disability and that it affects people for life.
I have two autistic children, whom I am very proud of as they are able to life active lives.
I have written this poem to show the love and joy that can also go with autism.
This poem is for sale at £10 and can also be personalised too
Please message me for details.

Hard Knocks...
It`s hard to know where to begin
for the world is shrinking
all the troubles around me
have really got me thinking !
the pace is speeding up
and I find myself a running
but not really getting anywhere
will have too be more cunning
one, two, three, here we go again
no time for any chance of rest
like a spinning merry go round
to keep on going is the best!

Margaret and me..!
Two determined widows
just like sisters, we`re united
matriarchs to our families
in which we are delighted
through tragic bereavements
and deep friendship too
we jolly ladies now, thriving
in all we feel and say and do
for we`ve supported each other
through all the good times and bad
such a strong bond has been formed
laughter helps us to feel glad
two jovial women we be
lardy cakes and Bingo nights
our friendship is the very best
full of support, fun and delights

Colours of Bereavement
A quiet moment to ponder
to think things through and see
the kaleidoscope of life
is bearing down on me
the colours that were first seen
after that dreadful day
were all so foreboding
like dark blacks and grey
a shaft of light has started
to peep through stormy skies
black begins to turn to blues
that`s what happens after someone dies
as despair starts to slip away
the colours change again
greens and reds begin to show
does this also happen to men?
anniversaries come and go
the light is getting stronger
colours twist and change again
more brighter tones stay longer
oranges and pinks now show
a smile upon my face
whites and creams are appearing next
and a spring is in my pace
if you could see me now, my love
you`d see a different person
bright colours all around me now
as I know that I can carry on.

This poem was written about 3 years after my husband, Steve lost his battle with cancer, and shows that I have come through the tough bereavement and can smile again. It is through losing Steve, that I took up writing poetry and I know he is still with my always.
This poem is the final poem about my feelings after this loss and was also the first poem I had published too !
Touched by an Angel
An angel touched my heart
on that sad and lonely day
comforted me in my need
and took the pain away
soft gentle eyes watching me
such an uplifting sight
white wings shimmering
in the hazy evening light
knowing that my angel
is always by my side
no matter what comes my way
I've my angel as a guide

When all is said and done
the final curtain`s down
pick up your kit bag now
come on and smile, don`t frown
the grass is greener there
at least that`s what I`m told
so I should go exploring
travel before I`m too old
a pint full of goodness
to help me on my way
humble pie to feed me
thank you, is what I say
have to spend to gain things
to give and not to ask
your mission will start here
so please complete the task
to fight is to conquer
the battle can be won
so look on the bright side
because life can be fun!!

Remembered
On what should be a joyous day
I sit here and remember you
you`re one of a kind dear Forrest
it was so painful to say adieu
through the terrible trauma
you remained stubbornly defiant
no matter how badly you suffered
I`ll remember my gentle giant
I shed a tear for what we had
knowing that you`re at peace today
raising three cheers with a glass held high
thus celebrating your birthday

Remember a very special man on his birthday
taken to be with the angels to soon
Love and miss you Forrest

Hand in hand we start our new life
side by side as husband and wife
side by side as husband and wife
with moments to cherish and treasure
a love in our heart without measure
when the secrets of marriage are spoken
the bonds of true love lay unbroken
may happiness dwell in our hearts
as this day is where it all starts

New Project
This week, I am stepping out onto a new journey, travelling down a new road..!
Since being bereaved and then finding comfort through poetry, I have had a desire to help
others who have been through the same emotional dramas I went through.
So I have been thinking about ways I can help...and after much debate, I have decided to set up a charity to help people going through this devastating experience. Poetry can be a powerful way to direct emotions to a more positive means of coping.
Expressing feelings using written words can help to release pent up emotions that can lay festering deep within. Some people can talk about their loss, while others find using a pen is better for them.
So excited about this project, but I`m under no illusion that this will an easy venture...
On the positive side, I have come up with a name... Healing Words !
I am researching, exploring and talking to people about it...and happy to listen to anyone who may be able to offer help or advice.
Please message me if you think you can help
many thanks
Lissie

Memories of Summers Past
Sparkling sunlight
fluffy feathers
a swish of breeze
in sunny weathers
song birds singing
in branches up high
blue skies, bright sun
oh for a gentle sigh
strawberries and cream
served with lemonade
sat on a picnic blanket
in the cooling shade
children running
laughing all around
playing hide and seek
until they`re found
shapes in the clouds
or making daisy chains
and watching the trails
made by aeroplanes
these are memories
I hold so dear
wonderful summer times
from yesteryear!

Orchids
Orchids, a sweet obsession
flowers of passion and beauty
softly glowing with pure love
and full of healing energy
flowers of passion and beauty
softly glowing with pure love
and full of healing energy
pale petals that bring much joy
delicate like angel`s wings
tall and elegantly posed
gentle queens or regal kings
so pleasing to our senses
sheer pleasure of these flowers
offering us such calmness
orchids sharing their healing powers

Touch the black rose,
'Passionate, Intense and vibrant'
The Black Rose of Winter is a poetic voyage through the turbulent storms of heartbreak and beyond.
The poems in this anthology have been carefully gathered from the four corners of the world. These poems show how in the search for love we are all the same, all searching for that special person to share our existence.
The poems in this anthology contain a maelstrom of emotions. They will make you laugh, cry and experience all the raw emotions of love gone wrong. However, they will also give you hope and belief in the quest for love.

Paradise`s Gateway
Through the setting sun light
there stands a tall archway
lighting up the crawling shadows
that grow at the end of each day
Standing proud before me now
this imposing great structure
beckons me to enter through
as instructed by my culture
Cold dark stone from ages past
remnants that have stood so long
crumbled and weathered by time
yet remain for you and I, so strong
For this, paradise`s gateway
an entrance to another place
one where pain will be no more
only tranquility and grace
This heavenly lintel bright
calling me to pass on through
hesitant, as I ponder a moment
but all I want is to be with you!

Home....
I love my little home
though I sit here alone
this place has not much space
though I shouldnt speak in haste
for it`s full to the brim
and so hard to stay prim
so I`ll sit here a while
trying to wear a smile
there`s noise all around
yet I hear not a sound
let me remain here alone
sat silently in my home..!

Start of Autumn
September rumblings
autumn`s now on its way
the warmth has left the sun
cold blue skies here to stay
weather`s unpredictable
but that's how I like it
maybe we`ll have snow soon
it strengthens the spirit!
bright colours on the trees
they`re changing their attire
orange, reds and yellows
summer can now retire
it`s like another world
low lying misty mornings
everything is shrouded
sending winter warnings
crunchiness under foot
and a bite in the air
wrap up now and stay warm
it`s time to take good care
September`s a great month
marks a change in the year
for earth start to sleep
as winter will be here..
I love autumn, all the bright colours on the trees and fruit ripening, harvest time!!
The Winter is just around the corner followed by Christmas....yeah!!!

Street Lamps
As the daylight starts to fade away
the hues of light now change
for the street lamps illuminate
sections of the street within their range
Lamps of the night, like stepping stones
stretched out along the pavement
capturing life in pools of light
trapping them into enslavement
Within the world of these bright lamps
luminous spider webs are spied
woven around the light fixtures
though wind swept, they can still hide
So in the darkness of the night
many creatures will pass on by
through these little habitats of life
until the morning sun is seen up high
Street lamps can be an oasis of light and life......

Thank you to you all...!
Hi everyone..,
I just wanted to say a great big thank you to all who have taken the time to wander through my world of poems and show such a lot of support for me work. My blog has just topped 45,000 views ..!!
I am now so determined to get a book of my own poems published.
This is my total ambition, to share my passion for painting pictures using words from the heart with everyone.
So thank you once again for all your continued support.
Lissie
Crinkled leathery thick skin
alert eyes that watch awhile
with a long thick white beard
almost hiding his cheeky smile
silver earrings in each ear
sunglasses reflecting light
hat perched at an angle
everything had to be just right
dressed from head to toe in black
white T shirt peeping through
boots you can see your face in
onyx ring on his finger too
with a slight nod of his head
a glint of his golden tooth
so relaxed, yet in control
a man of style, and that`s the truth !!
