Day 24 National Poetry Writing Month 2020
Prompt - write a poem about a fruit that you like. The poem should describe the fruit, it`s looks, taste, texture etc.
Red luscious rich fruit
An infusion of sweetness
Soft and squishy to the touch
Pulled off its stalk hanging down
Berries chilled, eaten with cream
Each drupelet explodes in the mouth
Rather not drop for they`ll splatter
Refreshing the taste buds
Yummy summery tasty fruit

Purrfect C
cautious, climbing, clever cat

never expect any freebies
make the most of all you`ve got
for nothing is ever easy

Coronavirus
sweeping through our world
leaving devastation on it`s wake
fevers, coughs, aches and pains
new cases reported each day break
a new phase "wash your hands"
was to be heard everywhere
and if you showed symptoms
it was self isolation with care
some countries are in lockdown
while others have restrictions
now the world has to change
or we`ll be trapped in limitations!
This adventure is on going.....!

Lockdown Blues
feel so imprisoned
entombed in this home
gone are the rendezvous
just the realisation of being alone
with this social distancing
internet to keep us connected
allowed out for food and meds
and daily walk to be perfected
furloughing of the workforce
no school, cinema or meals out
now "stay at home" "protect the NHS"
"saves lives" is what it`s all about!

Mother`s Gift
On Mothering Sunday morning
can you imagine my surprise
to receive a wonderful gift
a uniquely crafted rose, I spied
a beautifully hand forged steel rose
designed with love, created from the heart
tactile and realistic in every way
a gift that mmeat so much, a work of art
individual petals form the flower
drawing me into it`s wondrous spell
attached to a long sleek steel stem
wonder, if real, how it would smell!
my rose is simply beautiful
I`m transported to paradise
thank you to my talented son
it was such a fabulous surprise

Calming Walk
Sunny bright Sunday morning
my path takes me through the trees
walking amidst their long shadows
an untouchable forest in the breeze
dotted around their texted trunks
little clusters of bluebells stand tall
swaying to nature`s symphony
thankfully out of reach of footfall
picturesque views across the lake
framed by blossom covered trees
a lasting reminder that spring is here
as calming scent puts me at ease.

Ode to Dawn
waking up to a brand new day
kaleidoscope of coloured sky
a silence moment to be enjoyed
before this fireball get too high
to stand here beneath these colours
stretching right across the horizon
to chords of chirping dawn choruses
this is going to be a good one!
colours merge and change once more
as the sun travels along it`s arc
shadows fade and sunlight brightens
each dawn`s unique and leaves its mark
